Since unions were mentioned in the stream I am compelled to quote Francis Parker Yockey. “Trade unions are purely capitalistic, distinguished from employers only by the different commodity they purvey. Instead of an article, they sell human labor. Trade-unionism is simply a development of capitalistic economy, but it has nothing to do with Socialism, for it is simply self-interest. It pits the economic interest of the manual laborer against the economic interest of the employer and manager.” - Imperium Pg.38
@curiositycloset2359

I mean, I suppose. Tolpuddle martyrs were obviously a reaction to changing economic times. And socialist trade unions basically ceased acting as trade unions. Kind of seems a much of a muchness.
@curiositycloset2359

I mean surely, under socialism, there would be no need for trade unions. Given the social relations of worker - boss, would no longer exist.

When you put it like that it's hard to distinguish the difference between a trade union and a recruitment agency apart from one deals in existing labour and the other in prospective.

1:51:13 I said this under the last doc, but it’s well worth watching Goldsmith on Charlie Rose from the 90s, arguing against Free Trade, particularly against China entering the WTO. He debates one of Clinton’s cronies.

Excellent stream & in depth discussion. The concept of 'left' in Curtis terms needs delineating- if you are anti establishment when the establishment are totally corrupt, you may actually be a traditionalist. Terms are getting quite blurred.

1:51:05 - 1:53:08 I'm sorry but this part made me blow a gasket. Did you guys just spontaneously lose like 3000 power levels here? That dude's name is Goldsmith. _Goldsmith!_ Yes, _of course_ THAT DUDE is gonna be the one saying whatever to justify his actions that are damaging to the social cohesion of the host country! And to top it off his analogy doesn't even make sense! No, the bee isn't making honey because it's 'business' or it's 'good' The bee makes honey because making honey is acting in her genetic interests, because making honey is accumulating resources for her hive, which is populated by her sisters and mother (who is also her sister), and who are the bees most closely related to her in the world and therefore she wants them to survive! Goldsmith just totally subverts the actual substance of what the bee is doing by playing semantic games with it and suggesting there's some kind of dichotomy between 'business' and 'good!' He even has the chutzpah to call his subversive argument as a 'fundamental' and nobody calls him out on this, AGH!
@Zidana123
@Zidana123 4 ай бұрын
...Upon further reflection I now realize that the bee analogy is a subtle flex on the part of Goldsmith, since the bee is a kind of livestock, or 'cattle' if you will, and in the scope of the analogy Goldsmith sees himself as the beekeeper who ultimately is the one who gets the honey, regardless of why the bee is making it :x Gradually... Gradually...

Theres a really good interview with Goldsmith on GATT where he eviscerates some Clinton aid on why its a stupid idea to have free trade if you want to have any industry in high cost countries. Goldsmith isnt opposed to Trumpton. Goldsmith's opposition is rooted in the realities of the markets that he is surrounded by.
