How is it that I live in a place with so many giant deer that in some counties they outnumber the people and do not have a song about them but Japan has this amazing catchy song about them? The US must be way behind in the folk song game, we need to step it up. Everyone who reads this, your homework is to come up with new American folk songs about deer, squirrels, rabbit, and some more recent people who we can build legends and myths around like Buzz Aldrin. They need to be catchy, rhyme, be playable on a recorder with grade schoolers, and do not necessarily have to be completely true (in fact what use is a myth if it is not embellished a little). I am not a word smith of appropriate caliber to create masterpieces such as this shika song but I know you are out there, the heir to the nameless Minnesotan composer of "Paul Bunyon" and railroader composer of "Johnny Appleseed."
