Amazing conversation, I hope the Australian DoD is taking notes and taking what we can to defend our outer islands.

30:00 troubling to hear the general refer to NASAMS as somehow dubious because it is a foreign system. What does that say to US allies who purchase US equipment?

It says that we trust things we design more? People always trust things they build more then things someone else built. That's not weird at all. That's just practical.

Maybe I shouldn't but... Let's imagine we are in the 17th or 18th century. Both the Royal and Royale navies use not conventional but atomic or hydrogene balls. Could you tell us about - I anticipate casualties to be higher - social, economical, of course, health consequencies on populations. What would be the alternatives for populations to overcome these consequencies? Also, and as you said, could you elaborate about positive and negative impacts of such simulation? Are Diplomats, for example, interested/involved in the work you do? Thank you in advance for your time and efforts.

We failed to defend and emphasize on defending US forward territories in the Pacific during WWII 1941-42, we shouldn't make the same mistake again, also the USAAF planes should have had at least resistance against Japanese invasion force, but MacArthur said they should stand down prior being attacked.

Just in the defense of Guam? What about the entire Marianas Islands chain?

Wasn't expecting such heavy corporate lingo, you know the type that stretches a 10 minute meeting into 2 hours and makes everybody zone out, but I guess they are not unlike managers in a large company. I was expecting a more direct conversation.

I am USNA class of 83 and 24 year of FBI. I live and own a condo. People should recognize Guam and call out MTG for saying the US should cut out for foreign countries like Guam. Dare you.respond?

Watching this, I hear alot of "we're working on this" and "we've got only 8 guys on this issue".... pretty sad honestly. I mean, we've known about Chinese ballistic missile (BM) threats on Guam for YEARS... and by they way, US Army has no base-defense against FPV drones.
@steoderfragt18215 ай бұрын
I generally agree with you, but the U.S. has "C-UAS" to help defend against drones. I think the only answer might be to outproduce the enemy, which is quite the challenge with China.
The focus must be on the Chinese missiles. They are going to be coming en masse. How would you defend? Would the best defense be to simply detect the fired missiles quickly and respond with missiles in Guam aimed at strategic locations, firing before the Chinese missiles manage to hit Guam? I am worried because the West really didn't have an answer to mass production. The Warsaw Pact had far more divisions ready than NATO during the Cold War. NATO didn't have an answer to that, at least conventionally.
@ryanpeeples69985 ай бұрын
No reason for Guam itself to have missiles. Any Chinese missile will be detected at launch and US response will come from any of a dozen places.

I would also add the inspired by the Russo-Ukrainian War, suicide drones are another threat now. Whereas the current technology used by both combatants in that conflict is basic, be prepared and assume that China would be developing stealthy swarm types.
