I give Submarine Banjo extra points for being the ONLY transformation in the entire series that can be used in a boss fight and it makes said boss fight a lot more fun since the controls are better than just swimming around normally

6:25 I think it’s interesting that Rare did try to include Tooty in Tooie as she can be seen in very early storyboards for the game’s opening cutscene, but she was probably cut due to well.. being kind of pointless when it came to the games plot since Grunty had a good enough reason to go after the duo without Tooty being a factor. I do have to wonder if the cut Tooty epilogue, had it actually been made would’ve kept her character a little more relevant.

Interesting. I would have preferred her to just be a background character or explained to be on her own adventure rather than “missing” or “arrested by the rubbish video game character police” The adventure she was on could have been a spin off game.

I think Dragunda does function that way, but IMO it's pretty obvious which areas are hazardous liquids. And yeah I completely forgot about that worker in the bathroom! I think for obvious reasons he has to go to Stinkybunion tier

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't find anything offensive about Humba Wumba's character. However, since I'm not Native American, there might be nuances that I miss. If Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie ever get remade, I wonder how they'll handle Humba. Will they strive to make her politically correct and inoffensive, or will they remove her altogether as if she never existed?

I doubt they'd remove her altogether. They downplayed the Native American angle heavily in Nuts & Bolts so they'd probably just go down that road again

Personally that’s why I liked her Nuts & Bolts design better (only character in N&B I can say that for),not only she was less stereotypical she also is more distinctive and had more character than being just the necessary shaman replacement

I’d rather they remove her all together and swap her out for a different character. Her character and design in Nuts and Bolts was so different and diluted that she might as well have been a different Character anyway. Same with Jolly Roger, in Tooie he was a gay man, he was very camp and was in a relationship with what we believe to have been a trans toad. In Nuts and Bolts this was all stripped away. If you have to change a character so much that it doesn’t offend someone then just remove them all together.

I remember getting stuck at clankers cavern because that god awful shark in booty bay scared me enough when I first saw clanker I was convinced he would eat me and it would just sit in the pipe and ponder how to get past him. My justification is: while the fish from Kazooie at least makes a noise when you kill it, the big fish remains silent. And if I were to give the big fish character status, then by extension, I'd have to give that status to all the little background fish swimming around JRL - and that'd be too much. Big Fish is a location, but nothing more. Might be arbitrary, but there we are!

"We're not sure what species Mumbo is-" is actually incorrect. According to the instructions, Mumbo was one of the Grublins (the purple dinosaur-looking guys), but he was wooing too many women so Grunty turned his face into a skull.

@@CloudConnection I'm pretty sure there's no official source for what Mumbo's species is, with the closest mention to that being the Rare Revealed video for Banjo Kazooie, where it's stated that Mumbo isn't a Jinjo even though he looks like (and was modelled off the body of) one. Most people believe he's a Grublin due to them being the main villagers of Mumbo's Mountain (presumably Mumbo's home), their visual similarities (red feathers, yellow belly, orange skirt attire), and that the earliest versions of the Grublins had them as light-blue versions of Mumbo's design, so they do share design history at least.
