CORRECTION: It has come to my attention that you need to be moving at a certain speed for the fireballs in Waluigi Stadium to actually damage you - I did not realize this at the recording of the video. I also now realize that the Piranha plants did in fact spit fireballs in the DS version of Mario Circuit - so basically everything I said about fire here should be stricken from the record. Complaint to the amendment committee: with the recent banger city tracks like Bangkok Rush and especially Singapore Speedway, I feel as though the standard for city tracks has increased dramatically. Therefore, I humbly request that Tokyo Blur, a boring course that is easily the least impressive city track in both graphics and layout with nothing really unique to offer to the table, be demoted down to D tier. At least with some of the other C tiers like Boo Lake and Riverside Park I feel something while playing them, but I believe Tokyo Blur is far too flaccid to remain in C.

Singapore Speedway should be in S the night light the dash ring sand the fact the music changes when going through china town makes it S time and I would say down grade shroom ridge from B-C because it’s quite simplistic like the circuit tracks and I don’t get the appeal. Also I think Ninja hideaway should be brought down to either the bottom of S or A because some sections you go straight into a wall and driving in the roof is quite annoying and besides the gap jump there is pretty much no other place to use a shortcut.

5:02 check the fire balls in Bowser's Castle and you'll get the same results. They damage you, but you have to hit a certain speed for it to happen. It's so you don't get stunlocked

Honestly, that kind of design bothers me very much. It's literal fire, it should be hurting you regardless of speed and movement. It's the same with Grumble Volcano's volcanic meteors hitting the ground, but you can literally inch yourself through the fire and it doesn't hurt you either. I swear, the hazard designs in this game really irks me sometimes...

They thought that this was a brand new bug or issue that came exclusively with Waluigi Stadium, not something that's always been a thing with the game. That's the long way of saying, just play the game as intended, and it won't even affect you. If you're racing, you're not phasing through obstacles. If you're phasing through obstacles, you're not racing. In the unlikely event that your vehicle is too slow or in place, at least there's an implemented failsafe to prevent a stunlock

For the record, Singapore Speedway is a remarkably accurate depiction of Singapore’s Marina Bay area, besides the Chinatown being next door to it (it is not). It’s a little squished, obviously, but the hotel, the “trees”, those spiky buildings at the track start/end, and the Merlion. All of it where it’s supposed to be. Except for the boost to the top of the hotel. That would’ve been fun. It’s not a bad place for racing. I mean, that very area hosts a Formula One race every year. Might be the only Mario Kart/F1 crossover we’d get, just add a Mercedes car for the complete experience.

Dear Audit and Revision Comittee, I am afraid to inform you that there seems to be a mistake with the placement of DS Mario Circuit. Mario Kart DS has one of the best Circuit tracks ever developed on this sphere shaped ball known as Earth, if not the best. Not only does it have a goomba, who is theorised to be the same one on top of the Marina Bay Sands from Singapore Speedway, but it also has 2 piranha plants and pipes. Just a typical day in Bangkok, I believe. That parking garage felt super long to me on my first playthrough. You can also glide through the middle of the Democracy monument on Bangkok Rush, which I could tell you didn't know. Plus the gap jump is possible on DK Summit (without a mushroom).

I think you misunderstand about Waluigi Stadium’s half pipe section. It’s faster to trick off the halfpipes in that section, and it’s still very possible to mistime or miss the angle of your launch that makes those diagonal boys get in the way. The last one shortens your entry into the left-hander at the end of the straight while also deflecting items if it’s fair enough out. They still definitely provide a challenge to the player. In addition, have you ever actually ridden a dirt bike or ATV in thick, saturated mud? I have. That is exactly how it feels.

You’re definitely right. I’ve played the race more and more and have been coming around to that section more since I’ve made it a point to use the halfpipes every time. It’s more fun than I gave it credit for here and I might have to inform the Amendment Committee. Also I have never ridden an ATV! Interesting to hear that the course matches that feel.

I’m seriously rioting because of DS’s Mario circuits place right now. There’s absolutely NO WAY you could consider An elevated course with interesting scenery and with ACTUAL obstacles of DS mario circuit and put it on the SAME TIER as TOAD CIRCUIT. Just because it’s a circuit track does NOT mean it’s bad, and I would rather play DS mario circuit than Toad Circuit OR Mario circuit 3 The least you could do is move DS mario circuit up to C tier because I don’t think you realize the glow up this track has, along with the layout being better and more engaging than the other 2 circuits in the BCP

Suggestion to the Amendment Committee: Gotta be honest, Coconut Mall was really underwhelming when it came out, and looking back on it, the flaws are even more glaring now than they were when it released. So many key features that made the track lively were removed such as, the moving escalators, the (actually challenging) moving cars in the parking lot, the sort of bumpy terrain, and the Miis that occupied the mall, and while the latter is a bit tough to include, since Nintendo has practically eliminated the use of Miis on the Switch, excluding these features make the Mall feel completely empty and almost abandoned. With the other Wii tracks setting the bar high I feel Coconut Mall is B tier at best.

Okay, re: wave 4 this is EASILY the best ranking of the 10 or so ive seen (due in LARGE part to the fact you gave the city tracks the respect they deserved - i never played tour so maybe thats part of it but i didnt like NYC/Tokyo Blur but thought Sydney was great and then in this wave i was initially bummed to see THREE city tracks but they're top 5 city tracks for me as you pointed out they all have unique laps (amsterdam has glider/windmill/farms then underwater then tulips etc - bangkok has the long glider section/boat jump section to start/the upper and lower level options etc and then singapore has tons of awesome gliding/great layout/and totally unique where its like two diff laps followed by a 2nd part thats totally seperate on the helix bridge its all so fun to play thru imo) only place i really have issues is with ur ranks overall, i couldnt believe how high you had snowland (S? id say B at best) and NYC (u had A id say D, C at best) also having Syndey that low/one spot ahead of the boring london track and BELOW berlin was a shocker but the biggest for me was having alipine pass aka rock rock mountain as D tier below about 15 worse tracks imo, like tokyo blur is one of the most hated/most visually and layout-wise lacking tracks and u had it TOP of C tier?! for me its F even below toad circuit on F tier imo - oh and merry mountain is A tier for suuuure but below NYC and Choco is wild to me haha obv just opions BUT i will say - outside of those ones mentioned i actually agree with ur picks moreso than most lists lol

Hello recent viewer and subscriber of this channel here, after reviewing your tier list it is in my humble opinion that I have to address that the ranking of Tokyo Blur in C tier is awfully too high. Recently we have seen a noticeable improvement in the city tracks from Mario Kart Tour and I believe it is due to one big reason, the utilization of iconic landmarks within the tracks. In Tokyo Blur you drive on a wide highway while passing by iconic landmarks of Tokyo in the distance such as the Tokyo Tower, the FCG Building, Mt. Fuji, and the Tokyo Skytree just to name a few. The key word being "passing" as you are not driving on or even paragliding over any of these landmarks. Compare this to tracks such as Sydney Sprint where you drive through the Sydney Opera House or even Paris Promenade (which came out in the same wave as Tokyo Blur) where you get to drive under the Eiffel Tower and get to drive around the Arc de Triomphe. Let's not even mention the big elephant in the room Singapore Speedway which raised the bar for city tracks from Tour to an astronomical height. Although Tokyo Blur is filled with iconic landmarks and imagery, it doesn't use them in any creative way to help create a substantial connection with the player. A couple ways I feel this track could be improved is if they added cherry blossoms fluttering for atmosphere, maybe a section where you drive through a park such as Hamarikyu Gardens to showcase some of the native plant or drive through a museum to highlight some iconic art, and add an expanded paraglider section which really presents the stunning landmarks that Tokyo holds. Tokyo Blur could have truly been an amazing track and that is why I personally believe that it should be lowered to a tier such as D or maybe even F.

Here are my standings for Wave 4, now that I've given it some thought *1. Yoshi's Island - S -* I know someone is going to get really tired of people saying this track is the embodiment of perfection, and while I don't think it's *Perfect,* I still think the heart and soul this track was given makes it the best BCP track yet, and the sole S Tier track in my BCP Master Ranking. Outstanding. *2. **_Wii_** DK Summit - A -* Originally I put this in B Tier, but after playing it some more, the half pipe ramps are actually really fun here, especially in 200cc. And you can't complain about keeping the double shortcut. Looks brighter and more colorful, the half pipes are more fun than they were in MKW, I still get to do the double shortcut, Easy A. *3. **_Tour_** Singapore Speedway - A -* I certainly think this is the best Tour track thus far, it's much more open, has many interesting set pieces, a simple dynamic music setup, and looks stunning. Very strong track. *4. **_GCN_** Waluigi Stadium - B -* This is a pretty good version of Waluigi Stadium, all things considered. Once again, the half pipes are more fun (mechanically, anyway.) New additional paths add quite a bit of depth and are fun to pull off, and it looks really good too. However, I have to agree, the big half pipe is just kinda boring now. *5. **_Tour_** Bangkok Rush - B -* It looks really good, it has a lot of alternate routes, and has a few interesting set pieces to drive through. My one complaint is that it has a few turns that feel dissonant with the track's flow, but I suppose Singapore Speedway had one or two of those as well. *6. **_DS_** Mario Circuit - B -* One thing I've noticed about myself is that I don't seem to have the same issue with Circuit tracks that other people do. (sometimes I feel like the only person on the planet who doesn't hate Toad Circuit. It's in C Tier, btw.) Many feel that it's a tired trope that should die already, but if a track is fun, it's fun, if it's not, that the track's fault, not the theme. Granted, while I did find this track to be rather plain on the DS, 8DX breathed new life into it, and it feels really fun to drive on, in spite of it's status as a "not what my nostalgia jumps to." track. *7. **_GBA_** Riverside Park - B -* Not much to say here, mostly because of it's simplicity. A track doesn't have to be big and complex to be fun. (Singapore speedway and Bangkok Rush being the first Tour tracks to make it above C Tier to me is a testament to that.) BCP Riverside park is maybe one of the most short and simple tracks we've ever had in Mario Kart, but it's still pretty fun. The Piranha plants are fun additions, (although I wish they still had items with custom settings,) the visuals are good, and it feels like it resonates with 8DX's physics and controls very well. Another Solid B. *8. **_Tour_** Amsterdam Drift - C -* Not sure how to put this any more concise; You go a lot of places, it weaves around itself in interesting ways, it's got some neat ideas. but it's doesn't seems to pull itself together well in terms of layout. I've mentioned in previous waves that the splendor of the dynamic lap setups is kind of lost on me. To me, the value of the track doesn't come from where you go, just how fun is it to get there. (even if it's usually where you start.) And it's not particularly mind-catching to drive on this track. Also it has far more of those dissonant turns I mentioned earlier, it feels like this track doesn't have much of a flow at all. It's good, just not as remarkable to me as Bangkok Rush and Singapore Speedway were. I'd say it's just shy of B. Overall, the most overall positive wave thus far, nothing below C tier, and even then, only one track below B tier.

I haven't played Double Dash before, but looking at gameplay on all the tracks, I can guess that the feel of the karts really made so many of the tracks so great. How loose they all look to handle, and just how chaotic Double Dash was really makes the tracks feel that much greater, because they molded the tracks around the game's handling and mechanics, they aren't just tracks. Also count me in the Toad Circuit support group. I don't think the track is outstanding or anything, but it's simple and really fun to race on. I don't think it deserves F tier, and if it were me, I'd put it in B tier, but I think it definitely deserves to be moved up to D tier at least.

I was also somewhat disappointed in Waluigi Stadium. The turns feel very tight, and the piranha plant section feels way too barren in anything besides 200cc. But the visuals and shortcuts definitely make up for it. I honestly still really love this track even with these downgrades, simply because it’s Waluigi Stadium :>

I really can't get why everyone hates BCP/Tour Sky-High Sundae as I love to race on it for its theme and chaotic nature, it's actually A tier material for me and I might even like it more than BCP Yoshi's Island. Tour Bangkok Rush is one of my favourite city courses but in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the removal of the Ink Piranha Plants and of the tuk tuks really lowered my opinion on it and as a person who isn't very fond of GCN courses (including GCN Waluigi Stadium) I actually had a ton of fun with its remake and my only criticism is the stupid decision to lift the Piranha Plant robots in a 45° angle. Wii DK's Snowboard Cross is also another course which I'm not that fond of but here it was surprisingly one of my favourites and my only real criticism for DS Mario Circuit is the removal of one of the Goombas. The other courses are amazing in almost every way as well (especially Tour Singapore Speedway) but I'm just a bit sad they removed the alternate paths in the canal area of Tour Amsterdam Drift. Overall this wave was a mixed bag for me, it had really high highs but it also had some things that made some courses worse than their original counterparts. Oh, and FYI, the Fire Piranha Plants were in the DS version of DS Mario Circuit.

I believe wholeheartedly that Mario circuit deserves higher, it does not deserve to be in the same tier as "Mario circuit 3" "which doesn't improve in any aspect of the past remake on wii, "Rock rock mountain" Which is a very ugly remake where the visuals where downgraded and "Sky Gardens" Which is an embarrassment of a remake, and is way to simple. I don't believe any of these should be lower I just believe Mario Circuit deserves higher, it's a very beautiful remake, has an awesome new forest area with a wiggler and has plenty of awesome and satisfying shortcuts such as the using a mushroom to get past the piranha plants or cutting through the trees in the forest. I also find it's quite unfair to take away points because it "took away the opportunity" from other tracks, I don't think that's very fair :/ Either way I really enjoyed the video and look forward to the next one!

Overall love your list, but I think the city tracks deserve a look from the amendment committee at this point. If Singapore Speedway and Bangkok Rush are A-tier (and they deserve at least A), the other cities should be demoted. No way are Paris and New York anywhere close to these 2. I would demote them to C-tier. Also, please inform the amendment committee that Toad Circuit should forever remain in F-tier prison. Its crime of taking up a spot in the DLC deserves no amnesty.

The City tracks in Tour were not what made that game shit. It was the terrible controls, terrible microtransactions and terrible everything. So I have no problem with them bringing those tracks in to 8 Deluxe so people can actually experience them in a way that is not vomit inducing. Plus, its a great way for Nintendo to archive their work on those tracks since I think that Tour is probably going to get shut down shortly after the Booster Course Pass is finished.

This is a very reasonable way to view the city tracks. Personally, even though I rag on the cities a lot for being all similar, I genuinely appreciate having them on 8DX because I literally would never have experienced them otherwise since I don’t play Tour. Every time I boot it up I close out of it within minutes.

I like your videos a lot man! I'm just dissapointed with a few rankings. Waluigi stadium is not as great as the original, but it is still A tier imo. New-york minute is NOT the second best city track at all, I would even put it in C tier. The only good thing about that track is the park. Also Paris promenade is also waay worse than Amsterdam and Sydney. B would be right. kalamari desert is D imo, nothing much going on. Ninja hideaway is a cool track, but it's really awkward and irritating. C imo. A few other tracks need to be 1 higher or lower Like mushroom george and pinball but these are my biggest criticisms.

You’re the first person to take issue with Ninja Hideaway which I find interesting - I will admit that there’s been a little voice in the back of my head that’s been wondering whether it’s still S-Tier after all of these new waves being added. Also worth noting - I don’t actually have the tracks ordered within the tiers in this video, but I plan on updating for next time. I agree that NY isn’t the second best tour track, and if it remains in A, it’s more like the last one in. That will be more clear when I update the graphic!

@@GameGuy53 Thanks for the kind respond! Don't let this critique let you think that I didn't like the video, because your humor and creativeness is really fun to watch. I will give the reasons for NY and ninja a little bit more fleshed out so you can maybe understand where I'm coming from. NY M: The park is nice, but the city is dull and the textures of the buildings are literally the worst of the city tracks. No real obstacles and the cars don't move. Ninja H: The concept is really cool, even a lot of design details. But it's too tight (especially the turns), and you can fall of or bonk into a lot of spaces very easily. A track can be hard ( like rainbow road or bowser's castle), but this one feels more unfair/irritating. Also the shy-guy-ninjas don't move. I loved this wave. I'd put the GBA track higher though. But I love Super Circuit and that was my favorite of the bunch. I'd just add that the coins in Yoshi's Island are from the game and have the same sound effect. And the original game is for the SNES, not the NES. Slip of the tongue ;)

I realized my SNES mistake as soon as I watched the video back and have been kicking myself! Totally agree that this is probably the best wave yet. Super Circuit is great, I still pop that in to play on my GBA SP from time to time - (though now we have it for switch online, so that's hype!). If it's any consolation, I did have a hard time deciding where to put Riverside Park, it is a beautiful race. Always great to hear from you, André!

I completely agree about Waluigi Stadium, kind of a let down. The tilted mechanical piraña plants was such a bad idea, I'm not sure why they chose to do that. I do like the night time aesthetic better, but overall the Wii remake is still supreme if you ask me. I'd also only give it a C or at most a B tier.

I would agree that sky-high Sunday is f. First of all, it’s a such stupid map, also it’s all zero gravity all the time. I gotta say, the visuals are awesome, but the track layout, it’s just so boring. I don’t thing it fits very great in the Mario kart universe. Toad circuit, I actually really enjoy this track, especially on 200cc. It’s not an S/A, but it’s not also an F/D. I would putt it in C. This track is just super easy and relaxing, so I would say I really enjoy it. I also would like to mention: -Mario Circuit (D->C). It’s basic, but this is what makes it pretty fun to play. -Tokyo Blur (C->F). It’s just a track. Just a track. Nothing there, and visually nothing impressive. -Snow Land (S->B/C). It’s also nothing impressive. Yes there are ice physics, the items boxes are flying from the sky and penguins. But still, to put this track that high, meh.
