Heavy2 also follows from Push or Push-Attack. Alternating Push or Push-Attack between Heavy2s is good when you need more crowd control like against Rager waves. Not that portals to London are common anymore. Special also generates 4 stacks of Uncanny Strike. So, it can be good to start the engagement with SpecialLight1-Light1-Heavy2. Beware that if Special kills the target it doesn't reset your combo. So you have to use SpecialLight1 into Heavy2.

I find the trauma staff to be a more reliable choice since it can stun and knock down more than just one enemy and can deal with hordes with ease, as well as being a bit more "beginner" friendly for those who can't get into the rhythm for one reason or the other. The damage might not be the greatest but when you're surrounded by so many enemies, it certainly helps a lot to become a walking explosion factory. If you have blazing spirit you can then also turn into a walking napalm bomb. My tactic is to knock them down and let my team mates finish them off or use brain burst. Although combining those two weapons is certainly a good option.

You can also deflect one crusher and then immediately heavy strike another. The dodge, dodge range and speed on this sword are also the highest of all force swords. I've been playing with it since an entire year. The light strike is fast and strong enough to sneak hits between blocking, this way you can fight ragers efficient, easily solo a daemon host or other monstrosities. A heavy strike to a mutants face can also one hit it with warp charge or atleast stop his charge. Well, it hasnt been nerfed in all this time. And since this is no pvp game, i see no reason in doing it. The biggest con in this weapon is that it has almost no areal/sweap attacks and its warp attack is close to useless. This sword will only hit one enemy effectively, like a weaker yet faster and more mobile brain burst for melee range.

Been running with similar Deimos since the class overhaul and yeah that thing slaps 😁but may I suggest to try it with scriers gaze? Uncanny & exorcist as blessings and carapace & +5%crit as perks. I think you'll love it 😎 For talents mettle, perfect timing and scrier with precognition and warp speed are a must. As for other talents i like to use BB with kinetic flayer for that nice little extra pop every 15s and then i go full warp siphon for extra damage/cooldown/peril resistance.

i really like the illsi, i go for extra maniac and flak damage and it works super nice, the force push if aimed can knock enemies on their ass, but the CC is absolutely insane, it has a finesse rating and has a perfect horizontal swing for its first heavy melee attack and when its charged the cleave is bonkers, charging it and hitting the first light attack is really precise and easy to hit heads and you can one shot most specials with it, sometimes though you mainly just stun tf out of big boys with the force push and have your team handle them but it does well enough in damaging heavier enemies to justify using it

Yeah knocking down crushers with a quick sword thrust is crazy. I'd understand if it was some very, very slow hammer strike or something, but this Deimos attack is very quick.

I still personally prefer the Illisi for handling hordes, as I usually leave my single-target for my staff or Blitz, but the Deimos absolutely does shred. What are your thoughts on the special attack for the Deimos? I typically find myself using it for Mutants.

This sword is AMAZING! Not sure if you know this or if it's relevant to your play style, but if you block and push, it for some reason triggers Uncanny strike for some reason. So even if you're cornered and are blocking and dodging and trying to squeeze out, you'll most likely still have Uncanny strike full. Melee Psyker is WAAAAY too fun!

I just subbed yesterday and am enjoying the DT content very much, even more since I'm playing with 20 fps dips in t5 auric. I posted a vid of that sword half a year ago on Reddit saying It would get nerfed while easily 2 shotting crushers and cc'ing everything. And yet it's still here. Using any other melee weapon for psyker has not really been a thing for me since. Well, I don't even play too much anymore because of my near unplayable performance. Seeing good gameplay and clutches from you help scratch my darktide itch till I get my new PC completed. Vids with your live reactions are the funniest man. Good shit!

Force and Power Swords being better than anything else is lore friendly. In case of Power Sword the only reason why most Space Marines are not walking with those things all the time is how rare those are and hard to produce. Similar problem with Force Sword obviously.

It’s a good sword but he way oversells it. A handful of ranged enemies and casual players are done for. In mission you don’t have a big circle room to easily retreat and reposition. The other 3 guys in squad will be carrying you.

If we're worried about the bottom of the skill barrel, this sword is actually one of the best vs "a handful of ranged enemies", hands down. This sword and ogryn shield and the only two weapons that can block bullets.

If you're afraid about getting shot in the open, either position yourself better, or sacrifice either damage blessing for Deflector. Or you can use your other weapons, as Lagmaster said - Force Staves and Blitzes do not care about Suppression, and they're pretty good at suppressing back. Or you can use Telekine Dome.

Mk V shovel with flak/carapace thrust/brutal momentum and make sure damage, penetration, crowd control, and first target are as high as possible. Also I like the kickback and the achlys is really nice too.

Crits on the deimos sword and purgatus staff only interact with a few things, dodging, chain hits, special attack kills and peril, on crit you can apply soulblaze stacks. There is no increased armor pen on crit for either weapon unless the build site and my memory are outdated.

@@mykeh3155 Damage effects do not snapshot in this game, so unless the dev put in a specific exception, then it should work like bleed/burning psyker push: Effects of your currently wielded weapon apply, regardless of the original source of a damage effect. A common strat before they nerfed it, was to use the autopistol blessings to stack a bunch of power, then burn push a horde to ashes. Still possible to do with other buffs/stats and other setups, like burn push with power scaling from force sword (which I know for sure works), and uncanny strike (which I haven't specifically tested, but I'm gonna assume it works). You can test this easily with zealot/psyker flame, in the psykanium just burn a maniac or something, then switch to weapon with bonus to maniacs. All that being said "armor pen with each crit" doesn't exists. Your right is weakspots. Also no one block attack guarantees a crit. Edit: Now that I type it out, I'm pretty sure the uncanny strike buff falls off when you swap weapons, so its only usable via the psyker burn push. Wouldn't be able to swap to fire staff. Final edit, just tested. Uncanny sticks even after swap

I think it has to do with the popularity of staffs with high stagger, range and/or damage to elites. Most people prefer to use a hordeclear melee like the Illisi, or an allround melee like the dueling sword. I sometimes use Deimos with the Purgatus, but even then I mostly prefer dueling sword for quick spamable attacks and mobility, while I kill most elites with chained empowered psionics/kinetic resonance brain ruptures.

@@bestkidsk9507 1. Movement speed 2. Quicker attacks 3. Horde clear 4. Stab on Heavy 1 makes it quicker and easier to stab with, especially with instant special follow up (which has almost no delay and and practically makes it part of the heavy stab) 5. Sweep on light, stab on heavy is a very simple, confortable and predictable combo pattern. Not saying Dueling Sword is better, just that it has some pros which make me prefer it when I'm not in specific need of the Deimos great elite killing capability.

no melee attack in the game should have enough stagger to knock melee elites on the floor. a poking heavy should struggle to stagger maulers let alone crushers like the deimos can
