Beautiful. Soothing to watch. The fact that these birds are highly territorial and are also very protective of their food sources belies their lovely dancing. But this is very skillfully done with slow motion and careful editing. Still beautiful to watch.

Standing at the sink in the AM making a pot of coffee in TX back in the early '80's when I hear a "peep". Glancing up I see a hummingbird sitting on the feeder we hung just outside the window, looking in. It made eye contact with me then immediately flew a couple of inches off the feeder and hovered in mid air just as the birds in your video. "*Peep* It said and I noticed the feeder was empty. :D Needless to say, the bird had it's feeder filled before the coffee got made that morning. We only see a very few here in Michigan these days, but in TX there were dozens. So beautiful.

I have 7 of these Hummers spread out between 4 feeders. 3 in the backyard, 1 in the front yard. They're always funny to watch, and they always get pissy with me in I'm not on top of refilling their feeders.

@@carolhartley4448 They're more funny than peaceful, mainly because I have 2 males competing with each other. As for the feeders, I mainly use hanging tower feeders with sugar water, nothing too complex. You can find Hummingbird nectar at the pet stores too but there are plenty on "at-home" recipes you can look up to save some money. It may also help to have plants that they like, if you can afford them try planting palm trees that have "Birds of Paradise" on them as these large flowers have a LOT of nectar for the hummers to drink from. Just be prepared for ants as well. Or just plants in general with high nectar content. If they're good for bees they're good for hummingbirds. As for places hummers can roost/nest they prefer densely packed trees/shrubs like Junipers or similar plants as it is harder for larger predators to reach them, though Hawks don't care for hummingbirds as they can hunt Sparrows aka Chicken Nuggets to their hearts content XD Don't expect them to show up right away if your property hasn't had them before, it takes a bit of time for hummers to establish themselves. That's everything I can think of off the top of my head.

When I wake in the morning, there is a hummingbird feeding on my feeder. He is sitting on the rim and drinking and drinking. It immediately energizes me to think and plan my day and by the time he is full, I am ready to face my day. His energy is infectious. I live in Tucson, AZ, so my hummers feed here most of the time. Feeding directions: In a large pitcher place 2 tablespoons of regular sugar and 8 cups of water. Stir and bring to boil. Let cool. It is ready. Keep in frig. Make sure you clean the inside of the feeder with a small brush to keep it clean, especially in the summer. Hello everyone!

For those who are wondering which species they're seeing in this delightful video, here are a few tentative, hardly expert identifications: 1) The blue-violet capped, mostly bright green gentleman (he first shows up at 0:52) may be a -Violet-Capped Woodnymph-. 2) The handsome black and white fellow (at 3:21, foreground) is definitely a -Black Jacobin-. 3) The non-shiny bird with the striped face, white tail edges and the curved bill (at 5:41) is a species of -Hermit hummingbird-, but I have no idea which one (there are 30 of them, and many of them look almost identical). 4) And one of the first visitors to check out the camera lens is a fine, sparkling fellow with a rose-pink throat, impressive orange fan of a tail, and super-shiny green body (0:43), who I believe to be a -Brazilian Ruby-. If anyone can identify any of the others in the video, or has corrections to add here, please do so! (For anyone who doesn't already know, certain of the hummingbirds you see here are females, who tend to be less showy than the males, and thus harder to identify.)

I saw 1 hummingbird in my life. Very long story, so I'll skip that. I was sitting in a burnt-out area of the forest. Everything was black & scorched. I was alone & in quite a predicament. I put my face into my hands and suddenly heard a slow humming sound. I looked up and there was a brilliant blue hummingbird hovering in front of me. He stared at me and I smiled saying 'hello little one'. The contrast of my black charred surroundings, and this little miracle, made me understand what I needed to do. Thank you little one
