I think the reason Godrick refers to the Dragon as 'Kindred' is because they're both descendants of powerful beings & former lords (Elder Dragons & Demigods, such as Placidusax & Godfrey) but despite that, their powers are so faded & diluted. They are merely shadows of the strength their lineage once possesed, & that is what makes them kindred.

The Margit + Godrick dynamic is one of my favourite parts of the game. I beat Godrick and was like "Why was the gatekeeper so much harder than the king of the castle? Seems like a kind of weird mistake or oversight on the devs' part." Then as you pick up notes and opinions of Godrick you realise he was essentially a gigantic loser. Later on you realise the full power of Morgott and in hindsight it all makes sense.

Perhaps Malenia thought Radahn took Miquella. Mohg is crafty. The Haligtree soldiers are looking for Miquella. "Awaiting his return." Miquella went missing perhaps before Malenia and the Cleanrot Knights went to Caelid. Mohg manipulated the situation to make it appear as if Radahn could have been responsible, and Mohg's palace is below Caelid.

Best intro. Collected thoughts: Beast Regent implies that Serosh is a ruler in his own right, maybe he was king of lions in the Badlands. I feel Godwyn needs more backstory, he was loved by the dragons, as well as Miquella, who seemed very upset by his half-death. He was obviously a good dude to come out of the worst assault in Leyndell history with a new bff, just wish we knew how good exactly. Mohg, imo, is the reason the Tarnished is able to even become a lord. If Miquella was able to foster the Haligtree and become his own kind of god, the Tarnished may not have been summoned back at all. Morgott should have been worshipped. If the Law of Regression is a core of the order, then regression to a crucible-like state should be seen as a blessing. But of course it has been corrupted over time. Godrick may have been referencing having dragonkin ancestry when he was pillow-talking the dead dragon. If this is Marika's blood or something else, idk. Rykard and the serpent (Eiglay?) may be the source of the magma wyrm transformation curse. The rocky all-devouring serpent with an affinity for lava seems very similar to ravenous heart-eaters turning to rocky forms with lava. Ranni is just trying to put the Elden Beast, a star, back in the sky. Not a good follow up to allowing stars to fall again, but you do you queen. Jerren feels like Radahn's version of Iji, and I wish we got to talk to him about his lord more. Miquella done got big in that cocoon. The Formless Mother can still gestate, it seems. The cocoon is even on a fucking pelvis, I'm so scared of that fucker now. Malenia probably doesn't know where Miquella is, and probably doesn't have the mental capacity to figure out how to get there at this stage. She seems handicapped in her first stage, meanwhile the Goddess of Rot form is not even really her consciousness anymore. She wasn't even near her finest when facing Radahn. Woman's been deteriorating longer than Godrick has been a pussy. Love your content dude, keep up the great work. Edit: formatting

a regent its someone who rules instead of someone else, appointed by a king or lord, my theory its that sherosh ruled over the beast appointed by placidusax, there is even a crucible knight in farum azula which could suggest godfrey was there, and godfrey having sherosh voluntarily grafted on his back its what makes me insist placidusax its not the stormlord, why would godfrey fight an ally? placidusax its said to be elden lord, not lord of the world, or ruler of the world, elden lord, the lord of elden, the lord of order, so placidusax god clearly was a vessel to the elden ring they even have a ancient elden ring depiciton in azula, with more rings and diferent elden runes than those of radagon and marika.

I think you are right in thinking that Radahn was halting the stars first for his mother and then for his sister. There is evidence to suggest that the house of the moon stood as one in defiance of the golden order. When you join Ranni's quest but go to the Altus Plateau without triggering sellen's quest and then return to Jerren he tells you to go tell Iji that her fate is controled by the stars and to send you to fight Radahn so that se might find a solution to her problems through fate. He reminisces about his time with the carian royals and with Iji. But most importantly he remembers that the swords that Iji made for Radahn's army were still usavle even after encountering scarlet rot. This means they were friendly at least to some point before the shattering and possibly even to the point that Radahn and Malenia fought. Further evidence is that Radahn was known as the star scourge from his younger years. Jerren was introduced to Radahn through the carian royal courts. So this means he was on friendly terms with his family even after arresting the stars. I dont think it would be the case if he acted against his family's interest. All members of the carian royal family share troops among each other. Rani has troops from Rykard in her region, Rykard we know for sure was acting along side Ranni (untill he got the idea of letting a possibly outer god snake eat him) Radahn has in his army the mages from Sellia(an offshoot of Raya lucaria), marrionet soldiers (also from the college thus from his mom ) and his castle has an abductor virgin patrolling the castle. Even more evidence is that if you look at the map Radahn could not reach the capitol to attack it through the sea as the capitol is surrounded by mountains so you cant land the troops. His only option is through land. To do this he has to go through Limgrave and in my opinion it is this reason that he forces Godrick to come with him probably by force so he can attack the capitol and keep his home safe from invasion by Godricks soldiers. Eventually Godrick abandons Radahn at the capitol by running away hiding as a woman. There is no reason for an attacking force to hide and retreat when sieging if they were control of the area outside the castle. This betrayal I think is why he was hiding from Radahn in the castle and since Radahn was recovering he could not siegh Godrick too. Anyway if you look at the attack on the capitol the entire fight takes place on the left side of the inner wall and the only path leading to the left side is from the volcano manor where they have a portrait of Radahn. They clearly look up to the man. There are still more evidence but comment is getting long already. Oh and btw I think this is also why malenia attacks Radahn, his army was the mightiest outside the capitol and attacking him at this time when he was recovering would be perfect for Malenia who did not have as much of an army. I think all these things heavily imply that Radahn ,Ranni / Ranalla and Rykard were acting together to over throw the golden order. Radahn the general, Rykard the Praetor( judiciary) and Ranni the head of the house were in the counseling body and the government of the order as evidence by the cutscene before the Morgot fight. They had the power to fight the order since they were part of the order. I doubt the Redmanes who are all about family and loyalty would follow a general who abandoned and betrayed his own family. But all these are my speculation and opinions I could be wrong, but I really think there are a lot of circumstantial evidences suggesting this. The battle between two great houses is very much the way GRRM writes noble families and besides before the marriage between Renalla and Radagon only the Carian Royals and the academy stopped the march of the Golden order so it is safe to say as of now only they had the power to oppose the order if they acted together.

On the topic of Malenia, what if we’re misunderstanding her relationship with Miquella? She’s standing in the Haligtree still calling herself both undefeated and the blade of Miquella even though he’s not there. She seems to have no idea that he’s not there, or to not care. I don’t think Malenia has free will except in her Goddess of Rot form, where the rot god is in control. I think she’s completely under Miquella’s control. She doesn’t even remember fighting Radahn. The only way he could save her from the scarlet rot was to control her himself. Also, I believe his intent behind the Haligtree wasn’t to rival the Erdtree or make a safe haven for outcasts. He used them to experiment and discover a way to age himself; by watering the Haligtree with his and their blood and then confining himself in it, he intended to grow to adulthood as the tree grew. Part of the reason this was possible was because of Godwyn, whom he also “failed” to save. He didn’t fail at all, he was using the Deathroot to create the Haligtree so that, through Godwyn, he could both grow to maturity and become one with the power of the Crucible where the Erdtree draws its power. There’s a reason Malenia says that Miquella was the most fearsome. His power to charm others made it so his true plans were perceived as some noble endeavor.

The Godwyn and Nito Theory has one big major flaw: How can Nita have a soul if he already lost it from dying? Did it grow back? Does it have something to do with Fia? Did the Flame give him a new Soul? Or did something else happen? There's a lot that needs to justify Nito being Godwyn, for not only this reason but many others. Just wanted to put my thoughts out after hearing about the Theory in this video. (There's also other issues, too, but the Soul one to me seems to be the biggest one, since how would he be able to get the Lord Soul if he's essentially in an immobile vegetative state. One of these other issues is how Godwyn went from a colossal Mermaid-Corpse to a much smaller amalgamation of bones.) 1:00:41 - This is unrelated, but I didn't expect this. Made me laugh quite a bit.

46:25 Something I thought was interesting is that when Gideon talks about Ranni, he says "Ranni is said to have cast aside her Great Rune..." Later, Ranni says this "I stole the Rune of Death, slew mine own Empyrean flesh, casting it away." I think it's interesting they both use the word "cast", and it seems to imply that Great Runes are inextricably tied to flesh. That's why you have to "kill" demigods in order to get them. Except for Rennala. You don't have to kill her. You just have to kill the Amber Egg's projection that it shoots up into the room of Rennala. So you still have to "kill" the Amber Egg to get its Great Rune? Those are just some observations I've made.
@Kieselmeister2 жыл бұрын
The amber egg containing the great rune of the unborn + Renalla obsessively using the rune to repeatedly create identical little girls that appear mindless + Ranni taking over the fight with an illusion the moment the rune's bubble shield pops = The rune of the unborn is probably Ranni's rune, and Renalla went mad trying to use the rune to revive Ranni but failing again and again because Ranni had permanently disembodied herself using half of the rune of death. Also Ranni being an empyrean, with the potential to become a full god instead of a normal demigod, hints that Radagon's "parting gift" to Renalla may have actually been Ranni herself, with her being born directly from the Amber Egg in the manner of Athena instead of being Renalla's biological child.

Weird theory, but maybe Godrick was a hostage at the moment that Lyndell was attacked by Radahn. That means that Godefroy was one of the first beings to attack the capital after the shattering, probably in the means to inheriting Godwyn's great rune, his ancestor. A hostage, in medieval times, would be a means to keep you safe against your vassals or your enemies, that you mean that Godrick is probably the son of Godefroy, or at least, a direct descendant. In consequence to Godefroy's defeat, Godrick became a hostage at Lyndell, and that was the spark for his self worth issues, as well his snobbish pride of his status of the 'last of Godwyn's lineage'. Why becoming a hostage? Maybe was in Morgott's interest that the great rune's of the Elden Ring were meant to be, in fact, at the possession of each of the game's demigods (maybe he thought that Marika shattered the Elden Ring with a greater purpose, and keeping it broken was maintaining the status quo that was meant to be). Godrick becoming a hostage would mean to Morgott that, indirectly, one of the strongest great rune's would be at his possession. The problem with his strategy would be that, the shattering would cause a major war between the demigods, and this type of 'brotherhood' between the demichildren of Marika would be, in fact, just another hopeless dream of his.

Regarding Godfrey and how Serosh is grafted to his body: GRRM has this story called "Monkey Treatment" which is about this obese person who seeks to become thin. He meets this weird fat guy who gives him a monkey to put on his back. The monkey eats all his food and gets fat, and the monkey is impossible to get rid of as it attacks him if he tries to get rid of it or even mentions it to others. And nobody but the protagonist can see the monkey on his back, they just think he's eating all the food himself. Eventually the man starts to fade and the monkey starts to resemble the fat man who sold it. At the end the protagonist meets his old friend who has been almost completely absorbed by his monkey, so that only his loose skin is left, hanging by the monkey's legs. Horrified, the protagonist tries to commit suicide by jumping from an 8th story window. He survives but the monkey on his back cushions his fall and it dies. It is implied to be some sort of alien parasite that would have eaten him or a metaphor how his obesity and love of food will eventually kill him if he doesn't get control. So kind of what Serosh is doing with Godfrey except not really. Some kind of parasitic parallel, especially the way Serosh is trying to emerge and take over, when Godfrey is beaten, but he absorbs his rage and takes it as part of himself before it consumes him.

But also Miquella is a very Martin esque character: a super Gary Stu that everyone loves and hopes will be akin to the next messiah. Only this figure either dies or does not accomplish much or achieve people's expectation. Examples include Rhaegar, who dies before he gets to rule and fix everything, Robb who is betrayed, when militarily he is unstoppable, both from asoiaf. Dying of the Light has Jaan, who wants to save his people from their traditions but becomes a renegade "out-bonder" to his people. Way of cross and Dragon has Damien who is a great priest and inquisitor but loses his faith.

Yo, just noticed a things. So, in the opening video we get the picture of miquella in his original child form. In this picture he is standing next to mogg, with his hand over moggs, as if they are in accordance. In the cutscene of moggs boss fight, miquellas arm is raised, then falls(and he seems to injure himself to cause the blood pool, which implies collusion) to a position that his blood can pool effectively. Then after that, mogg raises miquellas arm slightly and the arm stays there, which would mean miquella can control his body to some extent in this state. This, I feel, alludes to the fact that miquella was in cahoots with mogg, and that they both planned this, and that miquella is aware to some extent of his surroundings. What do you think about that? Anyone? And in trying to think why they would collude with each other.... Miquella is against the golden order and mogg is a being that was blessed, or cursed, by the crucible which came before the erdtree. So perhaps they found a similar purpose together in trying to usurp/destroy the golden order. A world with death in it would have blood being spilt after all so perhaps their aims could be more compatible than we first guessed?

I think you mentioned before that you were unsure of the Omen Bairn origins, and I think rather than being strange objects of worship, they were most like crafted by the parents of the Omen. The Omen Bairn’s design is very similar to the Jizo statues in Sekiro, which are based on an actual Japanese practice, where the likeness of a baby who died is carved into a little egg-shaped statue wrapped in swaddling cloth. The Omen Bairn is merely an object of great remorse for the horrific way Omen births are handled, which explains why they shoot wrathful spirits

Underwhelming for real and they should have done more focus testing with people asking "is this voice appropriate or crap?".

Man I’m sure you won’t see this, but sitting here smoking while watching your videos is something I genuinely look forward to every day. All my friends live hours away, and I work 2nd shift, so I don’t really get the chance to hang out with anyone. Watching your videos and sitting in my car and smoking kinda feels like I’m just hanging out listening to a friend talk. I really appreciate that you don’t put on a voice to do your videos. Makes you feel way more genuine. Helps sorta fill that void that comes with being lonely. Thanks for making your videos man ☺️☺️

BTW the Black Knife Assassins are Scions of the Eternal cities which if you pay attention to the Lore essentially implies Marika and the Golden Order banished them underground for some unnamed transgression (I suspect it was the creation of the Albanaurics and their worship of the Stars, Night, and the Dark Moon) then when the made further transgression like crafting the finger slayer blades were wiped out by Astel which the Greater will called down upon them. Basically there's a lot bad blood between Marika and the Black Knife Assassins and they had good reason to merc Godwyn her favorite child.

I think it's not hard to justify that Radahn would attack the capital at some point. His father got locked up during the Shattering. He didn't seem to favor the Golden Order, nor the Greater Will. I'm curious about the time period between Radagan leaving for the capital and the Shattering of the Elden Ring. How did everyone get along at this point? I think you pretty much covered what detail we are givin, but it would be great if Soft gave more details regarding that period.

A headcanon about Ranni - she had a hand in Malenia attacking Caelid. Since Malenia was undefeated, she would be most likely able to kill Radahn and, in this way, release the stars. Maybe around the time Miquella disappeared, Ranni spread a rumor that he has been taken in Caelid by Radahn. Now, this lacks all types of foundation. One plot hole I can think of is, how is Ranni aware of the existence of the Haligtree? But it sounds like something Ranni would potentially do. Get somebody else to do the dirty work and take the blame, too, while she's mostly unknown.
@Kyle-ng2tq2 жыл бұрын
Cool theory but im pretty sure Malenia has no idea that miquella was stolen at all. Thats why she still sits by the Haligtree
@SirAshford2 жыл бұрын
As far as I can tell, the “cool” demigods all either died or suffered a worse fate than death. Radahn lost his mind, Miquella is still asleep, his ascendancy completely twisted. Godwyn is the exact worst example.

There's a chance that Tanith may be a reference to the late British author Tanith Lee. She wrote Gothic/Occult Horror, and many of her stories would fit in well in the Lands Between. It could be a complete coincidence though

Regarding Godfrey, I always assumed he was in a pilgrimage parallel to our own, as a tarnished himself. Maybe he was late since he probably started to see the guidance of grace later than us, we know it can happen at any time. I dunno, it really doesn't bother me that he never shows up till the end, there's plenty of plausible explanation if you are looking for one

The duality between Godrey & Morgott is pretty ironic. One was an warrior champion bestowed the crown of the first Elden Lord. While the other was a outcast that defended Leydnell and became the unofficial Elden Lord. Both had knighs under their command, Night's cavalry & Crucible Knights. Both led war campaigns. Godfrey waging war with the giants and storm lord. Morgott fending off the elden throne from Tarnished and Demigods alike. They both done alot as Lords..

EDIT: Apologies for the following spergout. I think the Raven v. Crow thing is an interesting literary misdirect that From has and GRRM uses quite a lot. So I wanted to point to it by analyzing how these charcters are not actually the same. Anyway I hope it helps somebody out there. Lore bit: in the asoiaf, Bloodraven and the Three-eyed Crow are two completely different characters that are confused by Bran. Three-eyed Crow is the one who visits and guides Bran to survive, whereas Bloodraven is the tree-man who has been watching Bran. Only Bran identifies these figures as the same, when all other characters correct him when he confuses the characters, and do not seem to know who the Three-eyed Crow even is. Three-eyed Crow is a Crow, whereas Bloodraven is a raven, two related, but completely different birds. Three-eyed Crow has three eyes. Bloodraven has a thousand eyes and one, but not three. The crow has three eyes with one being in the middle of the forehead, and this is where the crow also gives Bran a third eye, with the eye being a metaphor or symbol for psychic ability. Bloodraven watches Bran and talks to him as a tree in his dreams whereas the Three-eyed Crow appears as a Crow and talks to Bran and teaches him the philosophy of using his ability. It also pecks at him and tells him he is going to die if he does not learn. Later Bloodraven also teaches him, but completely different things unrelated to the lessons of the Crow. Three-eyed Crow is probably a future-Bran that is mentally time-travelling to the dreams of past Bran to manipulate him into making choices that mean that the "good guys" (i.e. himself) will win.

Great Video once again! A lot of interesting new things to consider. The thing about Godric being kept under arrest by Malenia is an interesting theory, as the exiled knights are definitely somehow connected with Miquella and Malenia. Something I have not heard before, thanks for that. Maybe Godric kinda was allowed to be a puppet-king in Limgrave? Kinda would fit into my own theory why Radahn and Malenia were fighting. I think the fight might have happened after Mohg kidnapped Miquella. Mohgs palace is under Caelid after all, but very few really know about the lord of blood, as stated by Ofnir. So chances are, Malenia didn't even know about him, just realized that Miquella was gone and went all the way down with her army of Cleanrot Knights from the Haligtree, trying to follow some traces. Leyndell and Gelmir were in a bloody fight at the time, so Morgott might have lacked the ressources to stop this army (or the will, as it seemed to have no interest in Leyndell anyways), same with Liurnia with Caria and the University fighting, simply letting them pass. Godric might have noticed her in Limgrave and challenged her in his land, thinking foolishly that he could beat her with his new power of grafting and getting her rune, but of course she whacked his ass, sparing him as he begged, having no interest in his rune anyways and simply grounding him in his castle, pretty much leaving him to his delusions of grafting, as she probably didn't care about Tarnished or even thought they were a threat to Miquellas plan and Godrics way to get rid of a problem for later. The idea of imprisoning him there with a small part of his force kinda made sense I think, not allowing his own knights near him. However with her simply going for Caelid, (Radahns lands), for the general it must have been pretty clear, that she was coming for him and his rune, as from Caelid there is nowhere else to go. Maybe even Malenia thought that Radahn kidnapped her brother, with Mohg a secret player in the game and her probably thinking that only somebody with the power of a demigod could have gotten through all the defenses of the Haligtree (as we know, are not that easy to pass ^_^). It would also explain why Malenia might have felt the need to unleash her scarlet rot in the area, when she was losing, which seemed as a rather dishonarable act for somebody who was pretty much depicted as an honorable fighter before. But with the fear of her losing to Radahn, losing her rune and life to him (who she might have thought was responsible for kidnapping Miquella), to her it might have been more than about her simply losing her fight, it was about Miquellas life (she loved her brother more than anything else), Miquellas dream... the Haligtree was already withering without him and probably the future of their world, with outer gods still using it as their playground. To her everything she cared about depended on that fight and therefore she was beyond being honorable. With her dead nobody would have cared where Miquella is and so she used this final horrific way out that doomed the innocent general and all of Caelid to this horrible fate. At least that is pretty much what I was able to put together, all one of many theories of course. ;)
