I lived in the UP for 3 years. The most unique place I've ever been and I've lived all over the country. The locals didn't take long to accept me. Crime was minimal. Accents were thick. It reminded me of the 2 weeks I spent in Alaska. Just native tribes and white people lol. The land is gorgeous and the quiet is golden. It's one thing to visit but to actually live there is something else. I only moved because of having more kids and needing to be closer to family. Love the UP.

We did St Joseph and New Buffalo in light snow early spring a few years ago. Fun to hike a few dunes at Warren Dunes in blowing snow. Watching kids surf lake Michigan in snow blowing was interesting. LoL . And guys fishing off the lighthouse pier in subzero wind-chill. Glad I bought my oversized Carhartt jacket. Nice and toasty with 2 jackets and insulated gloves. Mostly summer visits for us but often as we're only a few hours south in Indiana.

I grew up on a farm in Kansas 2 miles from a small town, Woodbine, where my dad owned a business, Middleton TV & Supply. This video reminds me of the snowy winters and ice storms in Kansas.

I grew up going to the UP and am left leaning.. I would love to own property in the UP and everyone I meet up there is very kind. I wish we could just stop with the political crap and just enjoy the forests.

Take a visit back North to Brimley. Take an excursion to go Yooperlighting . Stones found from a local that look like burning embers under special lighting. No white noise. Great experience
