@@MrBowater The next few (3) decades should be interesting to watch. Considering the world on average now seems to be at tfr 2.3 we can sort of already see where we're heading. Population will stop growing when the current young populations reach the age of 70-80. This has of course already happened in East Asia and Europe. Different parts of the world are at different stages. The most interesting thing to watch will be the world economy. I think the economy will take the biggest hit long before world population reaches its maximum. Japan has not grown for 30 years and might only have been saved by the rest of the world and especially China. What happens when we're all sitting in the same boat? 😉 Even with African immigrants replacing the ageing workforce we're still looking at a world population that will never increase again. What's driven the economy since 1950 has been a young population working and consuming like never before. That's coming to an end.
