My wee granny, God rest her soul, lived in the tenement block at the bottom of Prospecthill Circus from 1987 to 2000, she moved to sheltered housing in 2000, she passed in 2014. I spent some of my happiest times at Prospecthill Circus as a kid. We had her 70th birthday party in the community centre across the back. She used to walk into Rutherglen every day to collect me from school when I started. Then we moved to Dalry when I was almost 6. We used to go to mass at St Brigid's chapel. I vividly remember when they built the Asda down at the other end of Toryglen. I also remember getting the Number 12 bus

So many similarities. Although I visited my gran late 70s/80s. The fondest of childhood memories going to visit her during the holidays. We went to St Brigids as well....and I remember going to Kings Park (I wasnt from the south side and haven't lived in Scotland for about 35 years) but my memories of there (the drying area for clothes and the shute for the rubbish and the little row of shops where she would buy me a treat are as clear as day)

There was. My gran lived at 99 Prospecthill Circus, on the 12th floor during the 70/80s.She shared the lobby with 2 other women who were her age and they became good friends. My fondest childhood memories was going there to stay during the holidays. Loved looking out at the lights over Glasgow at night. Got quite emotional looking at it being knocked down.

why can't they just blow up
@AstonishingGlasgow4 жыл бұрын
I dont know to be honest. They did blow up the other two towers on the site. It may have been cheaper this way though these towers were closer to the maid Glasgow to London railway line so this may have played a part.
@therighthonsirdoug Жыл бұрын
Possibly because it would have presented too great a hazard to surrounding buildings. They will have conducted all sorts of risk assessments and cost/risk/benefit assessments and this will have been seen as the best option.
