@That80sGuy19723 жыл бұрын
Well, Odo is young enough to not fall under the typical Founder dogma and actually have both a moral and rational center. Perhaps, in his mind, he is bringing order via shattering the old to bring better order... a hard thing for Founders to do considering they do their best to keep fixing what does not work because they don't see it as broken because it worked before. What amazes me is how Gene Roddenberry/Star Trek had plausible science for every aspect of lore in the canon universe, not only did they expand ideas but they made them plausible by reasoning how this could be through science. Thats legendary. To create such outworldish ideas and then literally being able to scientifically justify these things down to the very molecule. Turns out, so much of what is in the show is literally on the horizon for us in science and tech. Decades ago we thought this would never happen and was farfetched. Now look at us!

Just about every mission in this arc, you receive vials of Ketracel White as a reward. Which only Jem'Hadar can use. You can feed it to Tribbles, and maybe get a Dominion Tribble if you're lucky, but it's useless to non Jem'Hadar players and BOFFS. You also can't trade or sell them, because they're bound to character. This mission begins dropping hints that the White is going to play a part in the resolution somehow, so I ended up saving all the White, thinking that the mission rewards were going to be a key later in the arc. Without getting into spoiler territory, let's just say that I still have some 60 odd vials of White. Facility 4028 has a Jem'Hadar bridge officer you can pick up as a reward, so I replayed that mission so at least he can get some use out of them.

Speaking of Discovery Klingon resemblances - It was probably unintentional but I like how the Hur'q ships kind of resemble Discovery Klingon ships too with the ornate details (most of them), jutting spires (eg Qugh), and large lighted sections (e.g. Sarcophagus & Sech) - even the Swarmer ship resemble things like the DaSpu'. Which makes sense given they were ether the first or most advanced warp ships the Klingons had seen after they were invaded by the Hur'q and they probably adapted and were inspired by the Hur'q's technology/styles of craft after driving them off of Qo'noS.

@JDEhlert3 жыл бұрын
I'm beginning to suspect that the whole Klingon Afterlife is a subspace realm created by the nightmares of early Klingons right after they fought the Hur'q and stumbled out into space and they saw the Dominion version and went, "Oh! New army! Go get 'em Treachery! Now!" ;)

IIRC, the Fek'ihri hat the Klingons encountered were actually a Iconian Creation, also based on the Legends as well. So despite the Dominion and Iconian Fek'ihri, there might still be original Fek'ihri as well. If they were real. As for Discoveries "Ship of the Dead" and "Ship Cutter" starships: It is strongly indicated they predated even Klingon designs of Discovery. They might have dated back all the way to the original post-hurq Empire.

I was watching DS9 a few hours ago and I had forgotten what the Link does for Odo. He joined with that female founder a couple of time and didn't care if the rest of the quadrant lived or died, and if it weren't for the prophets, it would have died. I guess staying in the link for decades might make him do that. The Link doesn't seem very different than an addictive drug, a drug that makes you absurdly apathetic.

So I guess the reason the Dominion gave up on using the Hur'q as soldiers is that when they tinkered with their genes they inadvertently did something even more horrifying than they thought. My guess is that since the Hur'q have that long sleep cycle, instead of being dependent on Ketracell White for survival they probably just go insane if they don't get a steady supply. That's why the Dominion made enough of them to be a threat before realizing their error, and then they just used them for an extortion racket.
