The DEMON Sea to Darwin, Sailing FAILS in the Van Diemen Gulf S5E12

Captain Linus is spit out of the Van Diemen Gulf twice by crazy currents and tries to avoid whirlpools and the lee shore of Melville Island with a cranky engine and a small sailboat that sails poorly to windward. He must reach Darwin in 24 hours despite the most challenging 100 nautical miles of the season.

What a rant. From what I have seen on various sailing channels is that they often refer to those cruising the world that give very detailed in formation on destinations and anchorages. So the question is why did you not make detailed plans for your journey.

“Most channels” youtube’s algo shows you won’t tell you what they really think because they get paid to glamorize cruising. This is my true thoughts while I was in or near the Van Deimen Gulf. In Darwin and Cairns I was always the only foreign sailing yacht. Nobody but Australians visits this part of Oz the months I was there.

The inaccessibility of the Top End is what we Australians enjoy about the North , very rude of you to come here and rant and rave about how we haven't built a channel for you or a few cities to make it easy for you , it's up to you to be sufficiently stored and have enough time to get to your destination , do your research , if you don't like unpopulated areas don't sail there ,I'm sure you wouldn't be missed .

The middle of the pacific ocean is better developed than most of Oz and has no lee shores. Y’all have squandered a continent thus far. If Australians don’t develop their country, the Chinese will.
