#FORDEBRIEF *_would you guys consider using a Panasonic digital voice activated recorder on location?_* If someone wanted to oh idk, ..render Shane’s logical mind into a bubbling pool..this could certainly be a step in that direction. It certainly opened my mind, to say the least. When legit responses are clearly heard, it is irrefutable, undeniable and fuc𖧱☄︎ing mind blowing. ~ _you ask a question, wait 15 or so seconds in silence, ask another question, (repeat). Then listen to playback for responses while you guys are on site._ [may be wise to bring along a set of EarPod headphones for when responses are hard to make out. *to use _while you guys are still there_ bc what good is it when you’ve left location, are in the middle of editing footage and only then realize what the responses actually said].

I want so very badly to believe in ghosts, ghouls, specters, what have you- but I'd need a really really solid in-your-face bit of evidence. If you guys captured an absolutely mind-blowing interaction that blew every other thing you've had out of the water, how would you handle such valuable evidence in the edit? Would you give it away at the beginning of the video- "hey guys you'll wanna watch this one, we finally caught a ghost"- or leave it as a surprise for whatever part of the video it happened in? Would you title the video something dramatic like "we finally got proof."? #debrief

Hey, if ghosts can supposedly manipulate the radio waves to speak through the spirit box, then who's to say they couldn't listen to radio waves when nobody's around? Maybe with all their free time, they've really gotten into modern pop music. I mean, you can only amuse yourself by randomly knocking on the walls and making people's backs cold for so long before you need to find something else to do. Like, how many times can you swing a pendulum to tell Richard, "Yes, I'm in the room" before you get bored and need to find a pastime? I wonder what Timothy thinks about the "Cowboy Carter" album? Or, y'know, maybe the spirit box is just a radio scanner with absolutely no ability to communicate with ghosts and Shane's spirit box just picked up a local station that was back-announcing the Beyoncé song that just played. That would make WAY more sense. But, no, it's probably ghosts.

For Debrief: the iron maiden was not a medieval torture device. The earliest mention of it didn't show up until the 17th century. It was lumped in with a boatload of other torture devices that simply weren't there in the Middle Ages. It's a lot easier to invent stuff and pin it on people who've been dead 500 years. It also looked like Richard was moving his hand during the pendulum thing. Maybe it wasn't done consciously, but do you think it had any bearing on what was coming through? That said, this was by far my favorite ghost hunting locations you've been to. Keep it coming!

Whilst the tour guide was telling us this there was shuffling noises near where the toilets are and creaking sounds and we heard a crazy breath sound which was terrifying and has stuck with me. I love the captions at the beginnings of the episodes, and the silly ones they add in, like when Shane was cursing. I think the Watcher team needs to go back through and edit the captions for this specific video though. There were a bunch of times when the captions didn't match what they were actually saying, or mixing up people's voices, like when it's Ryan talking but they label it [Shane].
@LittleChubs89Ай бұрын
@59:12 really appreciate the little special humor like this you throw in the closed captions at times, one of the few positive sides of having bad hearing and relying on those CC at times 😅

Honestly I kinda wish he would have said something. I love Shane but it kinda loses the point of a skeptic being there if he watches that sort of nonsense and says nothing
@sethescopeАй бұрын
@@Marzi29 given that Shane's flavor of skepticism isn't actually skepticism at all and is instead a firm, conclusory belief that ghosts don't exist, there's not really anything for them to talk about. an actual skeptic could bring an interesting perspective to the show. someone who questions the logic behind ghost hunting tools, someone who has learned a lot about many different spiritual and cultural traditions about what happens after we die -- that person could bring a meaningful skepticism to Western ghost hunting. I love Shane, don't get me wrong, and I'm a skeptic. but Shane isn't a skeptic, so there's nothing to be gained from him just being like "I don't believe in any of this" or "what's the science?!" (without providing any meaningful science-y analysis himself because scientific inquiry begins with a hypothesis and Shane is unwilling to form a testable hypothesis). you can't just say "this doesn't exist, there's no science." that's nothing. you have to engage meaningfully with the material to qualify as an actual skeptic. otherwise you're just someone who doesn't think ghosts exist. there's no conversation to be had with someone like that because the conversation is just "I believe in ghosts and this is how I think they work" and "ghosts don't exist and I think your tools are bs" this just isn't that kind of show, and that's okay.
@BonkekookАй бұрын
@@sethescope What are you going on about? Have you not watched the whole series? Shane used to criticize everything Ryan brought on, but Ryan refused the criticism instead of testing any of the equipment. Shane doesn't argue anymore because its Ryan's show and Ryan refuses to acknowledge the faults in his logic. You can't argue with someone who doesn't see a problem with their method, the same way you can't fix a relationship with someone who doesn't want to go to therapy. Ryan should be uploading videos of himself testing his equipment under control conditions to find out if they actually work the way he thinks. Especially since he champions what he does as science, or at least he did in the early Buzzfeed days. (That's why, coincidentally, none of these ghost shows have true skeptics, and Ryan is no different) Heck the Boogaras NEED Shane as the unmoved skeptic, because they are so desperate for someone to validate them that, with every piece of 'evidence', they wonder aloud what Shane thinks, hoping and praying that this is the day their experiences are validated. Not because they want ghosts to be real, but because they want to be right about ghosts being real, and that distinction is important. And a testable hypothesis? Ryan researches all of these locations beforehand and then his bias shapes all the research he does on the EVPs, spiritbox, etc., trying to force it into the narrative he's already built instead of building a narrative based on what was found, like you should be. You are very, very Boogara-y, expecting the skeptic to move the center line 20 paces to the Boogara side before anything starts. Doesn't sound like a skeptic to me.

Beheading was NOT quick before the invention of the guillotine Ry-guy. The axes used were designed more to crush than to cut, it often took multiple swings in order to remove the head and was extremely grueling and painful. Tony Robinson's "Worst Jobs" series has a spot on this, though I don't recall which episode. Also, Shane, boiling to death is not comfortable. Boiling/steaming water does NOT kill the nerve endings like fire does, so you stay in excruciating pain the whole time. People are not frogs, I'm afraid.
@Ethereally13Ай бұрын
I couldn’t believe Shane said that. The saying about a frog is also supposed to be about starting with the water *cold*. If they were boiling humans, that pot was hot and ready!

For debrief: I’ve been wondering this for ages and I mean this with the upmost respect - but if turning the mag light to the space between on and off essentially turns it into a touch lamp, why not just get an actual touch lamp? I had the exact same thought! the only logical reason to use the mag light instead of an actual touch lamp is cause the element of randomness to it lends itself to coincidences of ‘timely’ answers, without that nothing would happen 😅
@guhrizzlybaireАй бұрын
I have been curious about that too. Have they showed they need to physically touch the mag light to make it turn on? @johnplaysgames3120Ай бұрын
@@dissonancE.. Yeah, it was a recent one, but I can't recall which. Also, as respectful as he was being to Richard and as supportive as he was being of Ryan, Shane still snuck in a couple of subtle digs at what was going on. Such as the part after the Estes session where, after Richard says a lot happened, Shane quietly reiterates that it's just a radio scanner. And it is, which is why they got "Beyoncé." They probably just caught a second of a radio station back-announcing a "Cowboy Carter" track that just played or something.
