In 2022, the FBI released 133 pages of formerly classified documents revealing their investigations into the Dennis Martin disappearance in the Smoky Mountains in 1969. What these documents reveal is that the information formerly known by the public prior to 2022 about the disappearance is only the tip of the iceberg.
Follow along as I pour through the most interesting information revealed by these documents and learn more about the Dennis Martin disappearance than you ever knew before.

ps: I also heard that a man who had been harvesting ginseng in Smokey Mtn park had come upon a child's skeleton while engaged in the harvesting but didn't report it until years later because he didn't want to admit that he was harvesting ginseng because that was illegal. No idea if that is true.

Odd they ID 1 person there who seemed strange. I was one of over 100 volunteers searching early the next morning. (I lived in Oak Ridge, TN & had a summer job in Knoxville, age 16) The thick underbrush, was nearly impenetrable, even for adults with tools to cut their way through. Dennis could not have wandered far on his own. You had to be there to see how impossible it was to move through it. Later, the back yards of the parents & grandfather were excavated but nothing was found. I found it strange that Green Beret troops just happened to be on maneuvers nearby and were flown in by helicopter. They were armed. (Two days of searching and not a trace of Dennis.,The ranger in charge of my group remarked “something is wrong here. How does a 6 year old vanish into thin air within 5 minutes?”

Mr Martin was interviewed years later by David Paulides. Mr Martin was treated appallingly by the FBI apparently. David also learned that one of the lead investigators on that case from the FBI had committed suicide. There may or may not have been a connection. It seems that one moment Dennis was there and the next not there. The whole case is very strange. Also, a family who were in another part of the park camping that day witnessed what appeared to be a man carrying something on his shoulders. The man was up on a ledge off in the distance so this family couldn't make out exactly what it was this man had. The family had the surname Key. I find it strange this was not mentioned in the FBI report. Thank you for covering this case

My dad was a fireman in Knoxville, they were part of the search. It was something he wouldn't talk about. We had relatives that lived up in the area, after this we had to wear whistles and were told to immediately sit down and stay in one place if we got seperated from family. I don't know what happened but I do know the mountains. Dennis could have easily disappeared that easily, he was 6, seasoned hikers get lost. Realistically it could be that he was just a lost little boy.

Thank you for telling the truth. Some people get angry when they hear this, but it is important. Of course it will never be the official story. The park depends too much on tourist dollars, and they did not want that information to get out. The FBI kept the information hidden from the Martin family about the Key Family’s testimony of them seeing the man carrying the little boy .

Thank you for sharing the info from the FBI files. Very well done; subscribed. This is such a heartbreaking case. I think it's likely he was kidnapped as neither he, his shoes, nor his clothing were found in the wild. Not likely he would have just disappeared where so many people were looking; a child couldn't get to extremely isolated places on his own, and there are almost always signs of animal attacks where it happens with torn clothing left and often the body very nearby. As for his developmental delays, they sound relatively minor to me. I'm not sure how big a factor that was even back then. If severe, yes, but apparently his were very mild. I've read that the reason the kids had him hide separately was because he had on a bright red shirt that was visible. And his dad did see him hiding. As for the FBI saying there was nothing to lead them to believe a crime had taken place, what about a vanished child?? Shameful they didn't investigate further at the time. Thank Goodness for John Walsh; there are better procedures now when children go missing.

Thank you for the added information. I had not known that Dennis was a learning disabled child. Poor kid. Who knows what really happened to him?! Maybe one if those kids took his shorts. Somebody HAD to have put them under that rock. What a strange missing child case. I remember it, as our family were visiting our grandparents not far outside the park that same weekend, when we were all children. So sad for the family.

That last point you made. Yes. I have ALWAYS thought that. Who were the last people to see Dennis alive? And the story? "Oh, we all went and hid, playing hide and seek; we were gonna jump out and scare someone..." what?? That makes absolutely no sense. Except that i do believe there is a grain of truth in that, given that the other boys HAD planned to "jump out and scare someone." That person was Dennis. They did something horrible to him. Perhaps it was an accident in the sense that they didn't mean to seriously hurt or kill him. But my God; this would all make sense if they accidentally killed him.

New subscriber here. Well done! I am now running down this rabbit hole as I have never heard of this story. Something really screwy with this case for sure. I lean toward the feral aspect. They ARE there. I lived up in the smokies for awhile. There are things you cannot explain. I never trusted much off the main roads. The national guard was searching? When does that happen? Why was there so much hush hush with the searchers? FBI screwed this up really bad. We will probably never know though. The people up there.......way back in no mans land, are practically their own species.

I believe that Dennis was on the autism spectrum somewhere - think I saw that in one of the reports but back then autism was extremely rare and was not being used as a "diagnosis" for learning disabilities in the 60's or 70's. About Paulides, I don't believe he EVER said Dennis was taken by a bigfoot. He wrote books about Native legends re bigfoot before he got into missing persons cases but he's very careful NOT to say what he thinks happens to these people except to say he believes that whatever it is, it would be 'uncomfortable' as far as ideas go for most people or outside the comfort range for many people. Nice report.

@@feliciagaffney1998 The day Dennis Martin and his family were in that Park, there was another family in that park on the same day named Martin, as well. Dennis’ father was an architect from a Tennessee and that other Martin family, that was there that same day was from Miami and was in the construction business! Maybe just a coincidence but that was never followed up by the authorities! It was reported that they, the Second Martin family left the park in a hurry that day! I tried to find some information on them to know avail. In addition, the FBI director Hoover was said to be involved in the case and choose the agents involved in this search! Remember the FBI agent that was involved in this case and later on committed suicide…his name was Pike I think. A lot of strange events around this disappearance including the family that reported the raggedy looking man that was seen in the distance on that mountain peak, supposedly carrying an object on his back …it appeared to be a red colored object …. Letting out a startling cry as he ran over that peak! Never followed up by the authorities because they said no connection as the peak was too far away and he could not have been reached by him due to the distance yet the family who saw him were adamant that they saw him carrying a larger object as he ran in the distance! This story of Dennis has sadly remained with me for many years!

Ryan, wouldnt a FOIA be redacted as well? It's horrifying to think about it, but the reluctance of alphabet agencies can sometimes be related to their FINDERS cult/program. Basically, it is kidnapping, transporting, renting out and selling of small children. September and October are the busiest months for abduction, and because they easily get kids going to and from school. The rest of the year is also busy. Think of Johnny Gosch and there's a headstart. It's unbelievable how evil this world can be. 🙏😢

The soothsayer may have known that older cabins in the woods were built with crude stones as their foundation. In my town several houses were destroyed by storm or burnt down. Looking at the remainder you can see the loose stones with no kind of poured concrete or any arrangement of concrete blocks or bricks. So just about any house may have had loose stones under it. Her husband could have been a construction worker and told her about how homes were built up in the mountains or rural.

One thing to consider about the testimony of prisoner #1. If it is known that an inmate in a prison has messed with kids in any way, their fellow prisoners will usually kill them in horrible (but fitting) ways. So a single prisoner assisting the FBI on every level is not far fetched. If the accused felt he could confess to someone "like them" to build a protective net. That is how prison works. If prisoner #1 was "not like them" and did not want to catch a case in prison, the next thing to do is either inform the population and the case never get solved, or help the cops. Prisoner #2 that blew off the claim, or covered may have had good reason to do so and squash any talk like that so the population doesn't get any ideas. So both prisoners stories are very easily explained.

I agree ferel humans is absurd. The scream was ridiculously loud and heard by the Key Family about 5 miles away from disappearance site, and they saw someone they described as a huge shaggy human covered with fur that had made the scream. The smokies, in fact all of eastern TN and Western Carolinas have had many Bigfoot sightings, however in 1969 there was no data base for them like there is now. The Key family also noted this creature seemed to be carrying something. David Paulides, ex detective, has written a series of books know as Missing 411, documenting the strange disappearences of many hundred of people that went missing in the National Parks, in highly unusual circumstances like the Dennis Martin story. He has suggested in the last few years of people possibly disappearing into a portal, something that Quantum Physics states are real, and could be how the UFOs got here from their home planet. In the end, most likely we will never know.

The time of year twas bear cub breeding time , bears are also more active at dusk or early light and 4 to 5 pm was the time Dennis was found to be missing ,4 pm in the mountains is dusk combining this with the dropped shoe and bear print it seems that its at least very possible he was taken by a bear, the family were not familiar with he area and had never been to the Smoky mountains nor camped which tells me the family had no way of understanding the dangers of bears .The child sized shorts could have been any Childs that were soiled due to poop ,that would account for the leaving them under a rock to hide the stench ect , I can see that being a possible ok idea IF I someone was without anything to put the shorts in and didnt wish to leave them out in the open ect ,in 69 there was def no DNA and the testing was limited after long exposure to the elements .Im not saying its not a kidnapping but it Im more practical in mind and its seems very plausible it was bear in breeding time that came across a potential threat and got rid of it

The fbi was either listless, or willfully negligent. You know, because they never investigated that scream 7 miles away. Supposedly because it couldn't have been dennis. Buuut, it was someone screaming , and may have been an actual crime. Or, the person tried to nab dennis, failed and had to go grab someone else.

Did anyone ever check on other cases in the area, and if they were connected?

I’d like to know who was “it” in that hide and seek game for a few reasons, namely memory and even what we see is unreliable, exponentially more so when you’re jacked on adrenaline, and I wonder how much time actually past from hiding to missing. And if dad actually saw him hide or if he basically saw him hide (kind of “well I was right there I think”). Mix in a little guilt and grief and those memories/story he tells himself is probably highly unreliable. What I’m getting at is was there an accident with the boys? Also, I can get the informant wanting to F that other guy over while in prison together, for whatever prison reasons, but why would he carry the story, if fabricated, into the free world?

Got it but we all know what really happened to Dennis Martin he was kidnapped by feral humans now we really don't know if he alive or dead, in the American horror story there a episode called feral, there out camping in the woods and there three son goes missing and they thing he dead then they find him 10 years later living with feral people it all most sound like the Dennis Martin case

The footprints in the water - shoe print was confirmed as shoes Dennis was wearing - also both footprints, the shoe print and barefoot print are believed to be one set of legs, ie Dennis

Then consider Hoovers involvement w members of the same sex… was Hoover involved with child sex at that time, and had ties to Dennis? And they didn’t want any connection to this activity and Hoover

RE: Dennis Martin: Connecting the dots. If in fact Dennis Martin (Missing Great Smokey Mountains National Park 14Jun69 was, as Jeff's (DogMan & Paranormal Research by Jeff Nadolny) guest (24Jul -~"DogMan & Strange Activity Seen on a Military Installation - Father & Son's Account") is "100% certain," Dennis was taken (kidnapped) by feral humans could it be possible 7 yr old Dennis Martin was not killed but held hostage and forced to live with them? If so, even thou it is now 2024 - 62yrs later did Dennis Martin survive ? And if so, could Dennis Martin possibly be still alive?

If you have any experience hiking you know that leaving a trail at best you will become lost. According to SAR DM died of exposure or trauma from falling. No mystery here unless you believe in supernatural events. It’s not uncommon to never find bodies.
