It's so sad that in my country of Poland, every even remotely social-democratic content creator is automatically demonized, and there are really barely any socialists producing content here. And even less actual organizing and political groupings. I hope that this country can grow out of its middle-schoolesque obsession with anti-sjw'ism and acting like anarcho-capitalism would be a successful system.

Yeah, it's true across Post-Soviet Eastern Europe. Soviet politics are equalised with Russian imperialism 1:1, and self-determination, with neo-liberal economics and Reaganite mode of thinking, with the obsessively rosy view of the nationalist bourgeois regimes that existed between the two world wars. The influence of all sorts of traitor diasporas that ran from the Soviets to (mostly) North America in the 1940's doesn't help either.

I remember being sucked into the pit of reactionary youtube from 2015-2017. I was around 12-13 at the time, so this was really my first experience with politics. It really misled me on many things, but then I found Hakim and other internet spaces. I’m really glad it isn’t as popular as it once was, because things like “SJW Cringe Compilation #72683” may seem harmless, but when many people see them, atleast a couple are going to pick up the beliefs espoused in the video. 27:10 Vaush

@@tylerblue9691 OH FUCK DUDE ME TOO. Literally Tyler, I left the theatres after watching TLJ and feeling, perhaps for the first time, let down by hype. I felt conflicted about the writing and plot in general in the film for a few days before I looking into it online to see if anyone agreed. Took me less than a week to start watching stuff like the quartering, critical drinker, and EFAP regularly. Fell into some fairly incel shit (arguably already held some of those beliefs anyways and just had them fleshed out) but wasn't long before I was dipping my toes into sargon of akkad videos. But I guess, I got filtered out. I couldn't get around to agreeing with some of the shit takes I was hearing and was one of those people who actually watches the content they make long-ass videos responding to, and found more often than not they were all being kinda disingenuous at best. Daisy Ridley being a great example actually, because those aforementioned dudes would occasionally take the mask off and just rip into her directly, as if this actress few had heard of before wasn't doing the best character acting she could with the mediocre scripts she was given. Generally, they were either shitty to or misrepresented pretty much every major woman in the new trilogy, despite them having limited creative input and no writing input into their own characters. The new trilogy was a disjointed mess and a corporate hell, and are so badly looked back upon because they had the gall to be insanely mediocre movies. I'm not sure what the exact catalyst was, but I found Shaun, specifically his "British Rail" video, and then Hbomberguy. Kept sliding leftward pretty much ever since. Last one I stopped watching was drinker, pretty much right after I realized all the problematic shit he kept saying and doing wasn't just a character. Plus, a plethora of bad takes mixed into pretty much every video that should've been a straightforward video about "why xuniversally bad movie was bad".

One thing I will say about the boomer communist newspapering, is that going out and doing that is great training for speaking in more important political moments that I don't think online prepares you for as well. Talking to random people on the street about socialism/communism prepared me for doing things like leading community meetings for workers trying to unionize. If that's your only tactic, you're not going to go far, but as a tool to train cadre to think on their feet and learn to meet working people where their consciousness is at without watering down politics, it's really valuable.

Trotskyism is very popular in the UK - don't ask me why, it's just the way it is. I had the disprivilege of joining one even though I'm not a trotskyist and Hakim I can confirm every single thing you've said about them. This hyperfixation over Stalin and Stalinism makes them almost sound like a cult. They also dismiss any Marxist-Leninist that came after Trotsky, i.e. Mao, Kil il Sun, Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro, and are profoundly disinterested in the Black Panthers as well. They're commonly known for infiltrating black and brown spaces to show superficial solidarity with us, and never show up to any of our events again, it's just a bid for them to get us to join their silly cult. Honestly, I can look over their shitty theory and actions all if they stopped fucking selling newspapers like its the 1920s! The bourgeois attitude of these nutcases became apparent when I told them I became radicalised through the internet, and told them about Marxist content creators and what a dynamic and emerging area of the internet this is. They literally scoffed and said, "well... internet's great and all but it's time for some real revolutionary action". Oh mate, like what, selling fucking newspapers and organising a reading group of what, 2 people at best? The irony is, is that's exactly what they went on to say. They will always assert that Marxism-Leninism (tankies as they call us) is an online phenomenon and doesn't exist in the real world. Obviously this is bile considering there has been no country that has adopted trotskyism as a state ideology, nor is it popular in the third world. It's also bullshit because Trotskyism is neither popular on the internet, nor in real life. I'm just being honest here. By infiltrating gay, lgbt, and black and brown spaces by talking about Stalinist bureaucracy they've done nothing but made socialists look like nutjobs. It also doesn't help them by splitting up over every minor disagreement. There's like twenty different Trot groups here in the UK. Socialist Workers Party, THE Socialist, Socialist Appeal, Workers Party of Socialists. It's like that joke from Monty Python where he says "people's liberation army?! pfff. we're the liberation army of the PEOPLE." That's seriously the case. Trots can't even stand themselves let alone Marxist Leninists.

@@borelespork4510 That lecture was an absolute bore. Alan Woods has the demeanour of Chomsky, but is far less interesting. I don't even find Chomsky that good anymore, and neither do a lot of communists, so that's a big L for Mr. Woods. That being said I'm not necessarily pro-Stalin, I think he did a lot of things that were yikes, but that's different from blaming every single wrongdoing of the Soviet Union on him, or not acknowledging that he at least defeated the Nazis! Which is a feat unto itself. Plus, most people here in the UK and I'm sure in Sweden as well, don't give a shit about a factional dispute that occurred almost a hundred years ago in a country that doesn't exist anymore :D still they dwell on it like someone who's never gotten over their ex. We're more concerned about the housing crisis, rise in living costs, anti-immigration/far right rhetoric and the media's complacency towards these issues. 45:58 Sadly, the Spanish speaking left in KZbin is pretty undeveloped. There are a few channels with a considerable ammount of subscribers (mainly from Spain), but most of them are either quite suspicious of reactionary positions (ex.: Santiago Armesilla, from Gustavo Bueno's revisionist school of "philosophical materialism", which exposes Spanish nationalist views; Roberto Vaquero and Pau Botella, from the PML(RC) - Frente Obrero, who are Hoxhaist ultra-leftists and anti-progressive/anti-feminists), or very timid/uncompormised or vague/ecclectic on their positions (ex.: Diego Ruzzarin, a Brazilian bourgeois socialist living in Mexico, who focus more on philosophy rather than in political or economic theory; Ovejas Eléctricas, a Spanish posmodernist 'left-ish' kind of cultural critic; Café Kyoto, the same as Ovejas Eléctricas but from Argentina and with a higher aestethic quality). There are other channels who exposes more centrist or centre-left positions (like La Base, deeply linked to Podemos in Spain), or extremely niche channels from IRL Marxist political organizations with very few subscribers (with the honourable exception of Izquierda Diario, from the Argentinian Trotskyists in PST - FIT-U, and even them are on the low numbers).

I think the more leftist stuff we have, the better it is. Do not discourage people who just copy leftist posts or throw crap on Stalin while trying to come out as being socialist - it's all goes into creating a leftist narrative. What I want to say is that even the stupidest things that promote communist ideas are needed - it makes them more popular and really good things only appear out of heaps of crap. Not everyone was a Lenin 100 years ago and unfortunately situation haven't cchanged by 21 century.

You talked about extending the funnel into leftism quite a bit here, but I feel like the left is currently doing rather badly at playing the algorithm in general. Im really not an expert on this, but a good friend of mine is pretty much a professional algorithm wizard and here is a few things vaguely remember or believe to have observed myself: Yes comments and likes play a role, but this algorithm stuff goes so much deeper than that. YT has implemented stuff like hashtags you can put in video descriptions and I know numerous channels who have a shitload of random general as hashtags in their description. Another thing is featured channels. The KZbinr RM Brown for example just has a shitload of gigantic generic politics channels like the washington post or msnbc listed as featured channels and he just keeps growing at a pretty decent rate, despite not even monetizing his videos. Sharing videos on other platforms and generating traffic from other websites however seems to be one of the major things the algorithm looks for, because as I understand it, its statistically the hardest thing to get people to do. There is bunch more going on, but im sure there is videos that will explain this better than I can. I remember the Channel Spiffing brit doing a pretty extensive video on it and im sure most of the stuff in his videos still holds true despite being older at this point. And im somewhat sure there is a few things especially more active users can do. YT for example keeps telling me that viewers of channel X also watch this or that video. If you can bare looking at debate bros in ur feed, subscribe to them. Nobody forces you to actually watch them, but it increases the chances of their viewers seeing for example this podcast. How long you watch is recorded and also activity surrounding it meaning, if you watch this podcast and after 5 min you click off the video and even worse stop using YT alltogether for a while, the algorithm is going to remember that and it really doesnt like it. Watching over 50% of the video or even better the whole thing at once is good and even just clicking a different video after that is also recieved well, because the algo wants to keep you on the site as long as possible. There is also dumb shit like YT asking you how you like some random video or something you have already watched. Just tell the algorithm that you like the video, it takes literally 2 seconds and it again increases the chances of other people being recommended the stuff you watch on the regular. And yes im perfectly aware that all this circus only has the purpose of maximum monetary benefit for youtube aka being as addicted to this site as possible. For me personally I was watching a lot of the infamous V debate bro (luckily not anymore), when some random weirdo from iraq came on to talk to said debate bro and a channel with a red and yellow logo was suddenly recommended to me a lot ;)

This is a lot of crap. "The algorithm" is simply a set of parameters written by humans. One of the params is always to keep commies out. Their numbers are a miracle, and at any second, their channel could be wiped out with zero recourse. Glad we could have this talk.

I got into this in two ways technically: In reality I got dunked on medically with no end and never able to afford anything and had to sacrifice and education just to handle that, and ended up as akin to a crazy Marx reader. I also tend to over write and not care, so more so a problem in advocacy when nobody reading all of that lol. Online I got more into this and the scientific side by actively seeing people using bunk crap about humanity despite not even knowing how the brain works, and since I naturally leaned towards everything to do with robotics and closely based AI, with some knowledge of societal growth during human development I just automatically translated everyone as wrong. As for content regularly, seeing the funny Suris boi, and my chaotic rear-end decided it wasn't good enough. Then I saw Lenin boi Hakim talking about the Soviet Union that one time, then some random stuff by Yu, then it was Second thought. Probably not the order that is intended based on what they do. I personally like the Idea of making commu-tactical doll ripoff bots now, like that one New Zealander I know that made up the Sylvie stepper motor bot so that is a improvement. Basically some rando-girl made a robot beating stability of Atlas with crappy stepper motors, and me and some polish guys want to make it out of artificial muscles while archiving AI and new technologies unrelated to robotics and that on a server somewhere with random irate ramblings. Interesting to see how every politiical spectrum has their own ideas on automation as well as theoretics on actual AI use. But usually you get the random hollywoodian that sounds like a trot that screams off random crap based on self projections and miscomprehension of humanity. [I.E Human have big adversarial complex. Oh no robot with AGI somehow malfunctions and without breaking brain develops target parameters and hates human.] Others generally seem to be unironically pessimistic and despises themselves yet try getting into politics, economics, and this stuff. [Another argument is the freedom of creation/expression subtype, like how they scream off about you can't do this or not if you have the big gooberroober, but yet it was the wannabe-communist state that brought us the concept of LGBT battle maid gun-hulking masterminds. Here in the states the mere idea of a girl with abs has gone from cool and everywhere to being anti-man and should be removed from the screens, while also screaming about freedom of expression is a protected and universal aspect like that never happened. Dumb false-moral highgrounds and other cognitive dissonance usually in the decisionmaking process. >_>] I also have repeatedly come across random imageboards where old people dunk on Fascists for fun randomly, but usually I see some closet guy that believes the world should be socialist policy ruled, and leaning more and more towards socialism at least, but they are so brainwashed by hot garbage and thinks calling themselves a ML is apparently a giga-evil that has irrepariable sins. That reminds me of that old propaganda flick called don't be a sucker, based on dunking on fascist takes and they display how making up new terms, bridge-building, and the emotional argument gets people to do wild crap. Yet other people respond better to both a sentient and scientific response properly given when not some dry academic borefest. Yet I disagree a bit with the politics in real life happening thing, that weird stage play we call somehow relevant. With all the digitally superimposed and altered nonsense, the internet seemingly gets used to infiltrate and economically alter elections of other states and all. I'd argue they are both equal in terms of the priority based on what people can do. I.E in states with barely any movements at all or inability to travel or ruralist living, and thus communicating to millions over the net is the only valid means of spreading for them lol. Technically the stereotype as well as the other types of introverts, or those in bad working conditions with no time for organization without losing the means of sleeping.

Bruh trotskyists don't even trotsky, anyway. The whole anti-Stalin thing Trotsky had was just personal and isn't actually ideological but those "trotskyists" can only talk about Stalin and never the actual policies of Trotsky (internationalism, focus on workplace democracy, etc). I have to research the emergence of trotskyism after his death, but I get the feeling it became a thing because some "trotskyist" wanted a following and used far-right tactics of dumping on certain people. I'm not a Trotskyist nor a Stalinist, but I'm really sad that a personal feud caused a massive misunderstanding on both sides, seriously splitting the left even further. One side sees the other as something bad (anti-revolutionary social-fascist Trotsky, and anti-revolutionary evil Stalin). It all makes me mad, and makes me sad that I can't fit anywhere either.
