@@outdoorswithmatt4709 Retired recently and doing many day trips to Fox R and Rock R. Some DesPlaines outings. Love to wade in Northwoods WI rivers. Have waded Fox R & DesPlaines. Fish mostly from shore on quick hit days. Fished DesPlaines R around site of old dam in Riverside and downriver from canoe launch area to the south. Was amazed to catch a lot of bluegills and smallmouth. Saw some big bass, but these fish are cagey. Saw big carp, but didn’t have my usual corn kernels I use to catch these monsters on the Fox. Have seen folks catch some decent pike out of Fox R. And 20 to 30lb catfish. I have caught catfish up to 8 lbs. Fisheries have made a remarkable comeback since the 70s. Have caught many Musky up in WI. Would love to tie into one around the Chicago metropolitan area. There is of course, very heavy fishing pressure around the city area. Catching fish in heavily fished areas requires good understanding of structure and a bit of skill in presentation.
