Something tells me he doesn’t know what a fire lord is. He called both Zhao and Jeong Jeong fire lords

Just a clarification. Admiral Zhao is... well an admiral. Firelord Ozai is his own character haha, whose face we haven't seen yet, just silhouettes.

In this episode, everyone's a firelord :D

I love this episode, they get to really dig deep into firebending lore, find out in what ways fire is so different from other elements, see it's strengths and weaknesses, and this is just the FIRST episode Aang trains in it! I also like how Aang messes up in a way that's pretty in character for him: He's a very cheerful kid, who's liable to play around and experiment with his powers, and he wasn't really aware of how dangerous playing with fire (hah!) was.

I do understand that having to animate katara’s scars would be nightmarish for the animators, but I feel like it would’ve been so cool to have them be a permanent thing.

Spoiler In season 3 they always animated Aang scars on his back and his foot. But I guess hands are more difficult to pull off.
@Kepler93_15 күн бұрын
@@dadandadandan SPOILERS Tho aangs scars are significantly more important to the plot and actually help him win in the finale against ozai so obviously they had to animate those, but hands are definitely harder to animate.

1:20 btw a little fun fact. There is a glimpse of a wanted poster of Zuko in his blue spirit mask.

11:35 Zhao? Not the firelord, tho. 15:50 You probably mean "the most powerful firebender". I am actually not sure what are you talking about here.

That wasn’t blood on her hands, that was burned skin. I haven’t taken a fireball directly to the flesh so I can’t speak to that, but I have gotten burned badly by overly-hot liquid, and (without getting into the gross nitty-gritty) it didn’t bleed, the skin just got really red from the burns, so that’s what was being shown. And I see you’ve already been corrected on Zhao not being the Fire Lord, so I won’t harp on that, but I will point out one big reason the difference is important - the Fire Lord is Zuko’s father, the man who burned and exiled him, the man Zuko wants to please and earn the love/favor of above all others. By contrast, Zhao isn’t related to Zuko at all (as far as we’re aware), the beef between them isn’t any kind of really personal family dispute, it’s just a really arrogant man who likes getting the chance to kick down at a disgraced royal and is too arrogant to consider a teenager any kind of real rival, and a frustrated teenager who keeps having this one guy get in his way and it’s annoying and he doesn’t like him but it’s not like there’s years of really personal resentment there.

I like how unlike in a lot of other shows, bending isn’t just portrayed as just superpower but as a martial art which requires discipline, and understanding of the philosophy behind it. Fun fact: all of the bending styles are based on real life martial arts - I also like how Jeong Jeong had a lot of understanding of the other bending arts - the only thing I don’t about this episode it how Zhao is written like a completely undisciplined petty loser in previous episodes he was arrogant and cruel yes but he always had an afraiding demeanor of calmness which made him much more . threatening

Yeah. Realistically, magic systems, without proper care, can just feel like annoying superpowers. On its own, that's what bending is. Its the most basic of all superpowers, elemental manipulation. What makes it stand out are the fighting styles + philosophies and culture between each bending style.

Jeong Jeong & Zhao are firebenders. Not Fire Lords. There’s a difference & there’s only one Fire Lord. Ozai Also, Aang said that he’ll never fire bend again after he hurt Katara indicates a weakness & he forgot that fact that he hurt Katara when he kicked her in the face in episode 5
@Danimariee177613 күн бұрын
Aang pretty much did the exact opposite of what jeong jeong wanted with the leaf. He was trying to teach him restraint to make his fire small and aang got bored and made it bigger. Such a turning point for his character growth.
