I've had this same problem last week brother, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to try it out and I agreed. Instead what I did was waste 45 minutes trying to log in the game. We had a total of two okayish matches and I went "nah, I'm not playing this again." because the game crashed on me 3 times. I was confused why this game is still running poorly on medium when I could run cyberpunk on high settings without problems whatsoever.

Persona 3 Reload (Persona 3 remake) came out at an impressive $70 price tag, Atlus said this was only going to be a "Vanilla experience" A month later they announced the FES DLC a well known amount of content being the epilogue of Persona 3 that answers a lot of questions to the ending of the game at $30 price tag. So to get the full experience you need to shell out $100 currently. Back in the Mid 2000's Persona 3 original on PS2 came out at $50. When they announced the Persona 3 FES edition they CUT THE PRICE down to $30 as a new release. Why did they do that? Because Atlus knew back then no one would want to pay full price again for essentially the same game so they lowered the price so that fans could trade in their older copies for the new game with new content at a massive discount and this way they could make new fans with the lowered price tag. Atlus used to reward fans for their loyalty....

Every time a monopoly like corporation falls apart in history, what happened was the market opened up, having the potential for smaller businesses to form or expand getting back to how the system is supposed to work (at least temporarily) of a competitive free market driving prices down and quality relative to that price up. Never be afraid of a megacorp losing a branch of its profits or even an industry, it is an opportunity.

Astroneer - A soulful, cute, fun little indie game. Planetary space exploration survival. It's not perfect, but it has so much heart. Noclip made a documentary about the development behind the game here on youtube leading up to their 1.0 release and it's beautifully well made. It really brings some humanity to the development process in a nice way.

I also see this as the beginning of the indie game era. My little brother just graduated for digital design and programming. For the next couple of years, we plan on making some of our own game ideas with him as the designer and me as the main writer. The original S.Squad comic series (which lasted 66 issues from 1987 till 1992 and was written by writer John Ostrander) was actually really great and was very profitable for a good long while. Sales declined drastically by mid 1991 into 1992, but that had more to do with how at the time there was a huge "comics boom" resulting in TONS of new comics (and many new comic companies) coming out at the time and the series got lost in the shuffle, but it was still very good. The 2016 to 2019 comic series that lasted 50 issues and was written by someone else was pretty good at first. But it starts to get pretty bad later on. All the other S.Squad series aren't very good. The main problem with a lot of the other series is they eventually try to emulate what John Ostrander did with the original series, but they never come close to matching the writing quality of that original series.

I think he’s noticed part of the problem. The other part is they think they are appealing to the common denominator but because of influence of “consultant groups” like sweet baby (and many more that’s just the most recognizable) they are actually appealing to the smallest demographic in existence. Because if they were actually appealing to the common denominator let’s be honest they would still be making a good amount of money because they would be appealing to the majority. But they aren’t when they think they are and that’s why things are this bad right now. It’s the worst of both bad scenarios.

To answer your question about Pokemon games. Scarlet and Violet hands down. For one: I don’t like rogue likes and two: Pokemon in my opinion is one of those games that doesn’t need to change much. Don’t get me wrong: I want some variety in those games too, Legends is still one of my favorite games because it feels like a different more mature game, but the formula for Pokemon? No, that doesn’t need to change. I know I’m part of the problem, but I don’t care. I think Scarlet and Violet were good games. The bugs didn’t bother me because they didn’t mean anything to me. I would have preferred better graphics like Breath of the Wild, but again I wasn’t bothered. I think S&V had the best story since Diamond and Pearl and B&W so no complaints there. S&V deserved everything it got from the praises to the criticisms. Especially the latter because Nintendo and Gamefreak should already be doing better. Every negative they got was well deserved, but so was every positive they got. I enjoyed Scarlet and violent and I don’t regret paying full price for it.

I'm personally pretty anxious of how Gen 10 is gonna turn out in comparison to Sc&Vi. The way I see it it'll either be just the turning point we've been needing, taking everything established from its predecessors to become something genuinely good or the boiling point that will further exacerbate all of the series's current problems, further dividing the fanbase and sending them into a frenzy. No inbetween. I pray for the former but must expect the latter... Let's hope Legends Z-A delivers at least.

A regular pokemon game doesn't have to change much, but Legends was the actual FIRST attempt to do something different and had ideas that sadly didn't transfer to other games. So here's hoping Z-A will be JUST as good if not better than Legends Arceus.

@@zacharybartolo5111 My theory is that by the time the PLA devs made stuff like the catching mechanics, avoiding the hostile pokémon on the overworld and other QOL features the devs of Sc&Vi were already too far along in setting the foundation for the game's mechanics to majorly change anything. Pokémon's biggest problem right now is everything being on such a tight deadline afterall. My hope with Legends Z-A is that they don't repeat the same mistake. They for sure already know how much people loved PLA so now they can work off that from the start and keep expanding on that base. I'm cautiously hyped for Legends Z-A, I hope it's awesome too! For real though, if Gen 10 doesn't have PLA's catching mechanics or even a teeny little smidge of real voice acting I might just _lose it._

Indie games for the win. I think the last game I bought from a "AAA" was Cyber Punk and while it might be fixed now? That was such a cluser-frell it burned me off of pretty much all AAA games. Beyond Baldar's Gate (that I'm still waiting on buying) there just aren't any names big enough to lure me in for the last few years or coming up to blow $80 for, get hit with subscription fees from the start, have to pay for DLC where the story is actually told finally, and then get a game so buggy is crashes my computer. Again. Indie games for the win across the board.

I confess, when it comes to things like this, I'm a petty petty wench. I had been waiting for that game for a LONG time and it was just unplayable. (Also felt like crap for the poor programmers and designers, it wasn't their fault the company was so stupid) I'll eventually give it a look, but the first bug, the first stumble and I swear I'm deleting if from my Steam account and rage quitting. I've just got such a stack/backlog of excellent indies I've bought it will be awhile until I look at it again. In the last perhaps 15 games (Look, I got sick over covid, had to have surgery, got stuck on my assets for 2 years so I played a STUPID amount of games for a STUPID amount of time. So I bought so many it's actually embarrassing🙄🙄.) I've bought, most are early access and they STILL play better than a ton of "AAA" games. I've had exactly 2 that pissed me off about the crap they pulled - but indie EA, you place your bets, you spin the wheel. And even those were playable before they got abandoned and with each under $15.... 10 hours of workable play on each, I got my money's worth. It's just shocking what the big companies are doing. I've got a game I've sunk literally 100's of hours (see "stuck on butt for 2 years" as an excuse please) and it was made by a total of 2 people. Who update still now it's released routinely. And they added new things to the EA almost every three weeks or so for a couple ~years~. AAA have HOW many people? Gah, crazy making. (Gee, can you tell I'm still a bit annoyed? Sorry 'bout that. Been a bit of a day and I think I am cranky. Perhaps a good time to take a nap and listen to the rain.)

The game I still enjoy playing the most is the 20 year old City of Heroes: Homecoming. It's totally free to play now, no micro transactions, and still get more content updates than most of the modern games that bleed every last cent out of its players.

Fun Fact: Metro Exodus, the 3rd Metro game that released in 2019, and the 1st game in the franchise to have open world maps as well as some linear levels, with graphics comparable to some games of today, cost around $28 million. It was made by team of 150 people based in Kyiv, Ukraine and Malta. I wouldn't call it AAA, But it is definitely better than most AAA games today.

Helldivers 2 was the 1st game that I bought microtransaction (some Super Credits to unlock warbond) on since Planetfall 2s first year (bought the double miniguns for the mech suit thingy. Last game I pre-ordered was Rome II: total war... I've been voting with my wallet for a long time now.

Honestly I do not see the hate for scarlet violet. Did yall actually play the game? It's beautiful! Actual open world, some alright new pokemon in the roster, as well as the gimmick of the gen being able to change your typing on a fly was an incredible change. With so much stragegy and timing, And with the new dlcs adding new ways to to explore and mini games to actually help boost your way to competitive. If your playing to cheat then your getting nothing. If your playing to actually work for it, it's an amazing game. And yet legends was given praise for going "against the game" every pokemon introduced looks terrible, they are in pain, they are bored to be alive. Rocks just disappearing from the loading just 15 feet in front of you. Not even able to push yourself to obtain pokemon of higher with the alpha pokemon, no wonder it didn't sell. It was shit, ruining not only the franchise but the lore
