Its very rare for a character with an iconic design to have a redesign that also becomes super iconic. SNK really caught lightning in a bottle with Terry.

Redesigned Chunli in the Alpha / Zero series is quite iconic too. And I think SF6 Cammy also has the potential to be as iconic.

Terry is just one of the goats of fighting games. To be so likable of a character that no one has a problem with him, and then to be able to redesign him and still keep the essence of who he is? Amazing

Listening to them describe Terry, it becomes clear that Andy Bogard's design was really an insurance policy in case Terry wasn't a hit. That's why Andy speaks in Japanese and wears a martial arts uniform. In fact Andy is the only character in the first Fatal Fury game who announces his moves in Japanese other than the final boss, who wasn't playable.

Not only that but Andy's personality is pretty serious and reserved which contrasts with Terry's cheerful outgoing personality.

My favourite part of this narration is how his redesign came about. I'm really glad they went with the bomber jacket and shorter hair. It's one of my favourite character designs ever.

It may be because of the anime, or because Fatal Fury was one of the earliest fighting games I ever played, but Terry Bogard is one of my favorite characters in all of media. He is just so laid back and cool. Not rich, or a vagabond martial artist. Just a guy who works odd jobs, street fights, and relaxing with his friends.

My favorite Terry's version definitely is Real Bout Special one, I love that intro where Terry throws his jacket to jump after it and grab it and wear it mid air, is simply amazing. Let's Party!!! One of the things I really really prefer from Fatal Fury over KOF is the power levels. I like fighting Orochi and save humanity but that's a little too over the top. Meanwhile on Fatal Fury there are strong ppl but nothing too much absurd, sometimes less is better.

Terry will always be my favorite video game character because of his insight into the world of FGC. He is my lifelong main character since my childhood with KOF 2002 and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special. I know he is a fictional character but I am grateful to him. 🐺

Ken was originally conceived as an entirely Japanese character who was obsessed with american culture, the idea of him actually being american and from an affluent rich family came later as a result of being influenced by Terry and Robert Garcia from Art of Fighting

I always saw him as a cooler version of Marty Mcfly when he came out in ff1😂 One of the best designed characters of all time, not just fighting games. Fatal fury has other great designs like Mai, Mary, Yamazaki, Rock, etc. Kof gave us the likes of Iori. Meanwhile, samurai shodown has nothing but great designs.

@@hermontarmand2404 True from a Terry fans perspective, they were like being shoved down our throats and being told "This is THE Guy" for decades. even in Tier placement that includes current day, those two are positioned/almost deliberately designed to be Higher Tier than Terry.
