Stafford’s only advantage on Goff is he’s a little more mobile, Goff should seriously train for that. All you guys are doing is just looking at “4 turnovers” instead of analyzing the game. The game is on nfl channel so you can go back to the replays. The reason the fumble happened is because the Oline didn’t protect him for long after the snap they get to him in about 3 seconds. St Brown stumbled delaying him from getting rid of the ball an extra second. If you look at the replay from behind you’ll see Goff doesn’t even know that guy was behind him. Ben Johnson shouldn’t have been throwing it on 3rd and 2 or whatever it was in the first place The 3rd turnover a pass to Jamo that if successful results in a TD and it was a good decision on paper otherwise we’re never throwing any remotely risky passes. Jamo is who messed it up by letting his defender get in front of him. Unlike the pick 6 in no way was this a blatantly bad decision The last one was a desperation throw and didn’t matter they had already lost. Ben Johnson screws us again with that stupid Jamo trick play out of everything that happened that’s what sealed our fate. Because of that instead of cutting it to a 3 point deficit it was turned into a 17 point deficit. At least with Goff’s pick 6 mistake I can understand the difficulty of being a consistent QB but that play I can’t comprehend at all

@ Goff improved the last 2 years. By conventional metrics of a QB Goff this season is among the very best he even became the first in nfl history to complete 80% of his passes over a 6 game stretch earlier in the season. The main argument against him is if he has an inconsistency problem which is why I break down context. Early this season he had a few then went on a clean streak until the outlier Texans. That one I agree was terrible he kept taking risky throws but he learned from it and went mostly clean again Last Vikings game a little sloppy I’m not gonna excuse the 2nd one but I will say I think why it happened was miscommunication he literally just throws it down the field to basically no one except the enemy he should have had better awareness Point being it’s too early to say he’s gonna choke when it’s important he threw 0 interceptions in the 3 playoff games last year and 1 in his SB appearance. I find it interesting comments say that loss was on him opposed to the entirety of the Rams idk why the QB position gets held to this unrealistic standard

Yes the lions were hindered by injuries but this team were playing well without a majority of their marquee players. Also with jared goff I see why one mentions him or talks about him as a top 10 qb despite the fact he has great numbers is cause the guy is a turnover machine and choke artist and dan campbell and crew made some head scratching playcalls today. It is one of the smallest in the league. which is why a lot of rams fans blame his hand size for the insane amount of fumbles. He has 60 fumbles in 130 games. That is almost one every other game. It isn't like he is a scrambling QB...He also rarely drops back more than 35+ times a game. This season he only had 1 game with more than 35+ passes. 390 passes this season which is about 23 passes game. So every 1 out of 46 passes he fumbles it. You know one positive thing from this is that Aidan will get more time to heal for next season as for Goff he is cooked he is a great QB no doubt but his biggest flaw is being unable to handle any kind of pressure losing this game felt 100 times worse than last season we had so many talented players on this team and I won’t blame them if they start to leave for other teams no one wants to be Stafford he wasted many years in the Lions and as soon as he left he got a Super Bowl appearance and won it no less that alone will entice players to want out eventually me personally I won’t be watching any Lions games next season if they can get back to the playoffs I’ll tune in for those games but I am done with this team classic Lions always losing my hometown sucks

yep I said this last season--Goff can't throw! when they had to abandon their run game bc they were behind, Goff had to throw Why did the Lions lose? Not D, not run game but when they needed Goff to throw...he choked Why? bc Goff can't throw--he is NO Stafford They wanna talk about the hit Goff took--I say so what+big whoop--Stafford broke his collarbone went out+won the game

Man I knew this was gonna happen. Lions fan since I knew what football was, and even though this was a shitty loss we can at least be grateful for our best season ever. Who knows, maybe next year we’ll do great again, or maybe Ben Johnson will leave and we’ll go 0-16 again, but that’s unlikely with all the talent on this team. Goff had an incredible season with two really bad games, one of which we won anyway and the other where we still dropped 30. I’m glad we have him and I think he’s a great QB for this offense’s style of play. The same thing happened last year, people were pissed at Dan Campbell for going for it on 4th down, but imagine if we’d fired him then? Besides this one was more on the defensive injuries than anything else. We’ll be back for another kneecap next year.

@@edwardgaines6561 I do 💯. I’ve seen this multiple times with Peyton Manning in the past. He’d lose because his team hadn’t played serious football in 3 weeks and then he’d come off that bye facing a team that has been scratching and clawing for their season. That team would beat Peyton Manning because of momentum and being on the brink of elimination to get to the playoffs.

I’ve said for years… in the playoffs a) Quarterbacks get too much credit for wins. B) all the blame for losses. ~ FOOTBALL is the ultimate team game. …Ben Johnson went away from the run game, with Detroit up 7-3, on a 3rd and 2… Ben Johnson again went away from the running game and Gibbs and went with a trick play when Jamo threw the interception. Detroits defense, with many injuries, didn’t make any adjustments to stop Washington. Yeah, all the blame goes to Goff for the pick 6… LaPorta was wide open underneath… The others, man the play calling was off, perhaps Ben Johnson’s worse game… he had a dud last season against Carolina. The play calling in this game reminded me of Todd Monken and the Ravens completely abandoning the run game in last seasons AFC Championship game. • Coaches implode in big moments as well~ we all remember Beast Mode not getting a chance to give Seattle Back to Back Super Bowls. • Detroit had over 200 yards on just 23 carries, and Ben Johnson “panicked” and or got cute and put Goff into those situations… • You mentioned Justin Herbert. I have a name for what happened to him ~ Greg Roman. Nothing else needs to be said. • Football is the ultimate team game. Eli doesn’t win those two titles without that Giants Defense and a punishing running game ~ yeah he made some plays… but it wasn’t JUST because of him. Stop it. • Joe Flacco had a reputation for being a great playoff quarterback, but in reality it wasn’t the defense of those Ravens teams that propelled the teams success early in his career. Flacco had a decent postseason in 2011, before having the great 2012 run. The evidence is Flacco won exactly ONE more playoff game the rest of his career. Flacco missed the playoffs 3 of 5 years after that Super Bowl. The 5th year the team was rescued mid season by Lamar Jackson ~ Speaking of Lamar… see my comment on Justin Herbert… and the implosion of the coaching staff in last seasons AFC Championship game. Yes Lamar threw a late pick in that game, after, Flowers fumbled… and again shouldn’t have been in that position if the coaching staff doesn’t panic. • I’m not necessarily a Goff hater, nor a fan, same with Detroit. But I call it as I see it. I don’t blame Glenn for not making adjustments defensively, he was limited in what he could do, but at some point he has to adjust to the advancement of the read option running game. Something he hasn’t done well, outside of that, he’s done a great job… Ben Johnson has been spectacular, but he has to recognize it’s the playoffs and getting “cute” and putting pressure on your QB, with so many passes instead of taking the pressure off with the running game. Gibbs was going off… He should’ve had 25 carries and 30+ touches… The game didn’t spiral until late in the 2nd half, no excuse for the play calling ~ just like it was no excuse for Goff not throwing to LaPorta on the pick 6. Not just on Goff.. it’s on the coaches as well, and unfortunately the defense, unfortunate because of the injuries and their inability to stop the read option game.. Daniels had simple looks all game. Again, not taking nothing away from him, he was great, but the Lions staff made zero adjustments. In the playoffs quarterbacks get too much credit for wins. All the blame for losses.

Mathew Stafford is the cutoff point of quarterbacks who can elevate a team to enough of a degree to win a superbowl in the modern NFL. Like the Dalton line for franchise QBs. Goff falls short of this. Goff lost a shootout to Allen and Stafford won. With half of the talent Giff has because he can play at a high level when the situation calls for it
