@@Rando1453: btw- and this is coming from one who received his B.A. in biblical studies at Palm Beach Atlantic University (a S.B.C. school in West Palm Beach, FL.). I was the token sacramentalist on campus. I was the only Lutheran in the pre-ministerial program. I loved it! The students (all around 12 years younger than myself as they came directly out of high school) had no idea of what it meant to be a confessional Lutheran. Man, was I constantly approached with questions and challenges over doctrine. They were all great and though constantly challenged, there was never any anger in their questioning. Even the professors (my favorite was my Greek professor, Dr. Craig Blomberg, a true Greek scholar, he is now at Denver Seminary) were wonderful and respectfully received my questions offered in the same respect. I love being around Baptists because, for the most part, you all take God's Word seriously. As none of them had ever heard of The Book of Concord, I introduced it to them when they asked what exactly do Lutherans believe (that does not include L.I.M.O.s, "Lutherans in name only" such as the E.L.C.A.). If you can get ahold of the latest version of it printed by Concordia Publishing House titled: Concordia The Lutheran Confessions, A Reader's Edition of the Book of Concord. It was translated from the original German and Latin in today's English along with numerous notes to help the reader understand the context. It also has numerous pages of artwork showing the people spoken of or who contributed to the original work. It's extremely inexpensive as it should cost in the hundreds of dollars but normally runs around $35 although it sometimes goes on sale for less. It has not changed since originally published in its entirety in 1580. Pax. ps. I look forward to our continuing conversation.
