I love how they took out the scene with her overthinking the cerulean sweater. It makes Miranda’s speech sting more than it would have. 🙌🏽
@OhMyAcetabulum5 ай бұрын
See, I would’ve liked it for context. Miranda calls Andy out for, “taking herself too seriously” to care about fashion. To me this scene shows that Andy didn’t like the way she looked in her clothes and when she got her makeover moment it wasn’t Miranda or the pressure of working at Runway that made her change, it was her desire deep down to. It would’ve been a great character development moment.

These deleted scenes reveal what makes the movie work so great: that extreme fast paced opening, all fat trimmed. The roller-coaster ride would have been slowed with each of these scenes so each deletion adds to the final product.

I had never seen these, until now, and they were great scenes! This movie is so iconic! Especially for me, as it is basically a korror image of my life in the 90-s in NYC. It really catches the mood and feeling of, well, EVERYTHING about being a girl in her 20's, working her first job! Especially with a trip to Paris thrown in as a bonus!

The Film Editor is a genius. None of those scenes are needed to make that move stuck in our brains for almost 20 years now. That "thank you" scene would be unrealistic for Miranda. That's not her nature to be grateful of her underlings who were supposed "to read her mind" as part of the job.

I would have kept in two moments: The "Emily, watch my head spin" cuz that cracked me up; and the part where Miranda mouthed "thank you" at the party... just cuz it softened her a teensy bit, and I think the movie got that right at the part where she tells Andi about the divorce, but that moment would have just added a little something.
@n.jboltz5996 ай бұрын
I don't think the Miranda mouthing Thank you scene would have fit in that moment. It was too personal and too vulnerable for Miranda who had eyes on her especially after the spectacle Stephen had made. For Miranda Priestly to say/mouth thank you to her second assistant would have been out of character and a weakness to exploit. It was also a very sensual/sexual energy Thank you They could have added in a gesture on Miranda's part a delivery or a text message to Andy thanking her in a Miranda way.
@Greendalewitch6 ай бұрын
@@n.jboltz599 I agree. It wouldnt be in Miranda's character to say thank you. In her point of view, it would have been a weakness. Maybe she would have done something like at the end of the movie, where, in a Miranda's Priestley way, she told the editor of the magazine that he would be an idiot if he didnt hire Andy.
