Your narration and the ways you explain how the scenery, and sheer beauty of that river makes me feel like I’m there. And your face after that first sip of coffee before you take on the day speaks so many words in its self, I’m a Avid kayak fisherman and put in almost a hundred miles every year with several over night outings in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Our mountain rivers are right up your alley. I’ve gotten some great tips from your channel and you helped with my decision to purchase my Sportsman 120 last year and I haven’t looked back since. By the way you kayak better than your Friends! Always good fun watching buddies flip from the bottom of a rapid and catching their stuff as it passes you 😂 keep up the great work!

That stability came in handy quite often! Felt comfortable the whole time on that 106. I'm interested to see how a 120 would have done but I'd imagine largely similar if not a touch better. I snorkel in a few spots and have pulled out a lot of gold. I think around 3 ounces total from that river. I use a small snuffer bottle to grab the gold flakes. In the middle and to the north there is a couple dry river beds that feed gold into the main river during rainstorms. So after a big rain is the best time to go. Gold flakes are pretty small but in the clear water they are easily seen.

In 2013, a group of my friends and I did a 14-mile canoe trip on the Colorado river in Bastrop, TX. We had a very cursory map that led us to a little island about 7 miles in, and we camped overnight. Beautiful and life changing. However, it was 4th of July, and someone was casually doing target practice with semiautomatic weapons as we floated by. We screamed, trying to get their attention, but they kept shooting. We could hear bullets whizzing past us. Freaking horrifying. I was able to get to the edge of the river under an embankment. I grabbed on to some vines in an effort to keep myself under the edge of the river bank. But of course it was poison sumac. Then I had to take 3 weeks off of work. This is the condensed version. 😊 Love the video. Long live Texas

@GatewoodBrown Time to come to Arkansas and Missouri. We have multiple amazing Kayaking rivers. Including the Buffalo River, Kings River, Mulberry River, Eleven Point River (MO side), Cossatot River, Spring River (don't recommend the main, but the South Fork of the Spring is secluded enough), Current River (MO side). I am sure I am missing a few as well, excellent river camping and beautiful views.

That’s what it felt like! Made me wonder if having a stable platform like the old town is better than something that has better paddling but worse stability. This 106 felt planted in those rapids!

Did four nights on the Pecos back in 1988 with two to a canoe, 10 conoes total. Wish we had the technology back then to record it. We had plans and showed up for the Devils but the Rangers said it was not advisable due to the rain and what was comming. One of these days, perhaps. Thank you.

If you’re ever up near Ottawa Canada I’d be happy to take you white water kayaking. It’s a nice 5/6 hour day and we usually get a group of 10-20 depending on the weekend. Would highly suggest “May two four” or Canada Day holiday weekends for maximum experience

Thank you so much! So I don’t post explicit routes but I try to give enough info in the videos to where the discerning paddler can replicate what we did. For this devils river trip I’d recommend using an outfitter and they can advise what section to do.

Maaaan, that whole section where you got the thumbnail picture from is so ridiculously cool! What an awesome river... but also, lol all these sit-on-top fishing kayaks flipping immediately in the rapids was quite funny. Push your feet into them braces and paddle hard to keep balanced, my dudes! I swear half the shots in this video of the other guys was them NOT in their kayaks, after starting to tip and grabbing onto their kayak in panic hahaha

Key tip I learned the hard way many years ago, never try to out paddle the rapids you can not. Simple stick the oar on the side you want to turn and hold that's it. It looked like you guys might have got that down it looked like.
