If you want more stability than the iron beams allow for you can always embed iron gates inside the stone bricks which allows for an extra 50% in height (compared to the beams) before running out of stability.

@@FernandoTakeshiSato Dunno, that does seem more like a feature, not a bug to be patched.
@FernandoTakeshiSato3 жыл бұрын
a feature that a door adds stability? my guess is it was kind of a mistake, since iron adds stability and the door is taller then the beam, it's less pieces for more height...on the other hand, they did remove some iron stability bug and didn't change the door, so who knows :)
@themadmadsen3 жыл бұрын
@@FernandoTakeshiSato iron has a stability value, why the gate allows for a higher max stability is because the item itself is 3m where as the pole is 2m. It's the same mechanic as the wood and core wood poles, you can get twice as high of a structure if you use 4m core wood as you can with 2m core wood as the stability is calculated based on the number of connections between the topmost piece and the foundation vs the structural stability stat of the material used (ie. Wood, core wood, iron, ect). If they were to patch it out it'd mean they are changing the fundamental building mechanics of the game which is doubtful that they'd ever do. And when you think about it logically it does make sense that a solid iron structure would be stronger than wood with iron bands. This is without taking into consideration the poetry of having an Iron Gate as the strongest building block in a game made by Iron Gate Studios.
@swordzanderson53523 жыл бұрын
@@themadmadsen In real life, a few iron bars wouldn't exactly be structurely sound. That's what the person was trying to say. There is no way that a door would function as a support. Plus, if doors were supporting structures, well, try opening them. You most likely can't. Even if the gate had a frames, a flimsy frame ain't gonna hold up couple tonnes of stones above it.

An idea to help you increase the structural stability of your bridge. Inside the stone walls you are using as pillars you can put iron gates stacked up on top of each other. That should greatly increase your building height. Do one 2x4 walls then place the iron gate off center on in the middle of the wall. So basically half the gate is into the wall and it's dead center lengthwise. Then you add your 2x4 wall to the other side so that the gate is now half in each section of wall. Then you stack a 2x4 wall piece on top of those first 2 wall pieces. This should hide most or all of the gate at this point. Then attack iron gate on top of the first and then keep stacking up stone wall pieces. Basically the iron gates will be hidden but will be running up the fever of your stone walls giving them iron support. I'll try to find a video of what I'm taking about to makeit easier.
@ANIMOUS83 жыл бұрын
Ok i found a video that explains what I'm talking about. Looks like hiding the iron beams inside is a bit higher. So i guess it comes down to which is cheaper and meets your needs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5q1f6Gcm5WGhpY

Possible suggestion for you- Lower the bridge to come in just UNDER those big rocks on the tower side and do an underground entry area with those rocks as the roof, with a staircase leading up to the tower proper when you dig through far enough to reach the far side of the rocks. That'll give you a good spot for your spiral staircase too, as well as saving you stone on the bridge and simplifying its support issues.
@Mad-Duk_Machine_Werkes3 жыл бұрын
When building in the Mountains, there is a HUGE difference between pick-axing thru "Ground" and going thru a Boulder - you can make a subterranean cave house, tunnels, walkways with rock and arches on top if you just chip thru Big Rocks and hollow out Boulders- Keep that in mind when building this base, boulders stay above you head if you dont chip out all the side support (just like you learned in the Plains with the Pillars) Like at the end of the bridge you have started now, I would walk strait forward and hollow out that rock and tunnel thru it..............

Dude. Seperate the bridge pillars even more: you can use two archway pieces on each side at different levels to make archways wider. Not sure how to explain this: use one archway piece, and place another one at the end and just above it. Then place another two facing opposite on the other side to close the arch. That way you will have arches that span 2 levels and with pillars 8m apart. You'll save a ton of minerals.

dude, can't wait to see what you come up with. on a side note, in a test world I spanned the gap between two rock pillars in the plains using only horizontal iron beams. @sibiris84743 жыл бұрын
To be fair, you can still fiddle with it and raise the ground for "free" if you are willing to blood your fingers doing it. It was in the game before the patch and its still in. Basically, when you dig with a pick, you shave off "1 or half" of the block. Then you can raise ground by "1,5" blocks then hit it with a pick again and repeat until desirable height is reached. Slow and uncomfortable, but at least you still have some creative freedom.

You can actually space your supporting pillars even farther apart. You can have two stone floor pieces "free floating" in between two that are supported by arch pieces. This means you can space your pillars 8 meters apart, instead of 5 meters like you have them set up here. Should save you a lot of stone.
@samcude30603 жыл бұрын
Should add, the "free floating" floor tiles need to be placed very quickly or they will break from lack of support. But if you get them in fast enough there is a sort of "wedge" mechanic that allows them to stay in place when they would otherwise fall.
