I wish they would show the extremes the amp is capable of, not just the tones the presenter likes. How much gain is on tap here? How clean can you get with humbuckers? Etc.

@landajimmy4 ай бұрын
Effects clog up the signal and affect tone. Real tone nuts can hear the small difference. The new Friedman Plexi also has no effects loop.
@Flornmonk4 ай бұрын
@@landajimmy What clogs the tone is using time based effects in front of an amp instead of in the FX loop. It all comes down to what kind of player you are and what you need to get out of an amp. For me, and many others, having an FX loop is absolutely essential.
@jasonlewis53504 ай бұрын
@@Flornmonkespecially drive pedals going into delays into the front end. In the old days though, guys were using an Echoplex in the front end with the level low so it didn’t take off and get mushy on them. But, in modern times using the FX loop for complex rigs, ambient tones, etc is essential so I agree with you. I think the Hendrix amps don’t have FX loops either. Or at least the 20 doesn’t.

I don’t understand the difference between a cut control and a presence control. Seems like a duplication to have both in one amp.
@prsguitars4 ай бұрын
@DavidEllis-rw1of - "The top end on David’s amps have always been super important to him. He has cited numerous recordings and has articulated his specific desires for a “sweet” top end. With this amp, there are actually four top end controls for him to carefully tailor it to his liking. When developing his original 30-watt amp, he would test a particular prototype version at the Saxon, watching for the front row of fans to see if they put earplugs in or were wincing at all from the volume. This never occurred, so we felt like the top end (the offending frequencies) was nice but not harsh. The four controls that David uses are the obvious Treble, Top Cut, and Presence but also the Master Volume. Backing off the Master Volume darkens the tone a touch. So, all these functions treat/control the high end in a different manner. Including them all allows for more tweak-ability... For example, the Treble bleeds high end to ground passively, the Master adds series resistance to darken the tone, the Top Cut bleeds out-of-phase high frequencies together to gradually nullify them, and the Presence manipulates negative feedback to actively boost the highs. In this case more is better, as it was something that allows David to dial in his tones more perfectly." -Doug Sewell, PRS Amplifier Designer
