Peter Feigl was attending a Quaker summer camp in France in 1942 when he learned that his parents had been arrested. The Nazis and their French collaborators had rounded them up with other Jews. The next day, Peter began recording his feelings and experiences in a diary, planning to share it with his parents when they reunited. But that day never came.
As we mark Anne Frank's birthday, meet Peter, who as a young boy wrote about his uncertainties and trauma during the Holocaust.
Guest
Peter Feigl, Holocaust Survivor and Museum Volunteer
Host
Dr. Edna Friedberg, Historian, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

Thank you for giving this to us. Personal history lessons are so important to be given --- especially for free and in audio. Having my grandchild listen to this is important because she never got the real history education that she needed to have within her school system. This kind of education is now a blessing -- thank you again.

What a tribute to Peter's parents that they raised such a resilient and resourceful young man. His diaries are amazing. Thank you to the Museum for sharing this moving story.

It is more than "interesting". It is educational in a time that the schools have been turned into propaganda machines and there are people denying the Holocaust even occurred and others learning to shout pro Palstine slogans that call for genocide of the Jews, again!

I wish she let him just talk more and stopped cutting him off. Also what kind of man makes this great man pay to get HIS diary back after everything he went through.
