The opening sequence where Rob trips over the ottoman was filmed right after the filming of this episode was concluded. Buddy's grey suit and Sally's black dress and pearls in the office at 14:26...and Laura's grey skirt and sleeveless top with a broach on her left shoulder at 24:18 are identical to the clothes worn in the opening sequence!

I don't understand this in some ways: 1) Laura knows it's Rob and feels he's trying to be romantic, then why when he asks about her knowing these words, does she act like she has no idea where she got them? 2) Laura thinks he's trying to play a trick on her so she's going to play it back by pretending she got a call from a stranger and not telling him about it. So she must have known he might not show up.

I was curious to see what MTM's hairstyle was called during the early years of TDVDS; It's called "Flip". Anyway, Flip is making a comeback. According to a 2022 Harper's BAZAAR article, Flip is not only making a comeback but also being incorporated into existing modern hairstyles. So, don't be surprised if you see the 1960s Flip coming to a girl's noggin near you. 😏

Those type of hairstyles required teasing the hair, curlers, and a lot of hairspray, I doubt it will make a comeback with the average person. I did like most of the clothing styles from back then. For both women, and men.

Mary Tyler Moore is so beautiful. The DVD Show was so modern and yet traditional. Remember that at this time there was an undercurrent of the counter-culture, beatniks, hippies, drugs, open relationships/marriages, divorce, civil rights, the assassination of Kennedy, etc. This show wasnt just warm and funny and depicted a modern 1960s marriage but it also was a reassuring anchor for Americas married couples and Americas families that they could go into the future and it would be ok. People wanted that sunken living room and that midcentory modern ranch home and a happy marriage surrounded by good friends, music and laughter. Plus...look at the predecessor of the DVD Show which was "I Love Lucy" which depicted a wild out of control wife and a volatile husband reigning her in...so Rob and Laura Petrie were showing America a different kind of marriage and family....people loved DVD's talent but people were captivated by Mary Tyler Moore....much like Elizabeth Montgomery...both were the mother every child wanted...the wife every husband wanteed...the neighbor and friend everyone wanted....interesting...Mary Tyler Moore had a lot in common with her on-screen personality and her off-screen personality

Despite the fact that Rob and Laura sleep in separate beds, I love that they normalize a husband and wife having a healthy sex life. I made this connection when I realized that (pretty daringly!) they had not one but TWO episodes (including this one) where Rob and Laura clearly are into role-play! Spicy! (the other one is "Never Bathe on a Saturday" where Rob dresses up like David Nivven for..."the cocktail hour".....)
