I never once pretended that it wasn't. I bought both games to go with my brand new N64 just before Christmas 1997. Loved DKR, but was so disappointed with MK64 that I sold it a few weeks later.

Diddy Kong Racing was one of those games I played at a friends house and maybe saw it in the play pen of McDonalds and never regretted buying because I remember it being so hard. I said this while I had Mario Kart 64 which is probably harder than Diddy Kong Racing.
