Last summer I finally hit 10,000VR and finished unlocking everything in this game about 9 years after buying it. Beating the Special Cup and watching the credits roll one last time afterwards hit me like a truck. It felt so damn good to finally do that save file the justice it deserved.

It builds on botw in so many ways, like the dev and design teams worked very hard for the whole six years. But yea, now the games are only newly available as bonus for an online subscription, which is iffy (but it's better than two separate subscriptions as Xbox does). I don't think Donkey Kong for GB is on there, which is a shame. Side flips on that console feels so space-age.

Second Mario Kart I’ve ever owned, first being DS. Nostalgia aside, I still think this is one of the best entries in the entire series. Best Rainbow Road. Best Soundtrack. When those highs hit, THEY HIT. Also props to 7 for making a SNES Mario Circuit Track actually enjoyable. Edit: Plus they added my main Shy Guy back from DS, crazy how Wii never made them playable but got the freaking babies as playable character Piranha Plant Slide is peak MK music

This was the first Mario Kart I remember coming out and buying on launch. I still prefer Wii and DS, but it’s great that people seem to finally appreciate 7 too. The courses in this game were some of the best in the series, the retro courses specifically. I feel like they brought back all the best courses from the previous games, with a few exceptions. There were some notable things missing from this game though like VS mode, the character selection was wack, and the pace of the game (driving) feels slower than Wii, DS, DD or 8DX which is why I come back to it less often.

This was the first Mario Kart I ever owned. I have immense nostalgia for it. I think it’s one of the worst entries in the series. I absolutely HATE the way the game handles. Everything moves way too slowly. The character roster is garbage and the nitro tracks are mid as hell. And yes, I've played every Mario Kart game extensively. That's not to say my opinion is worth more than anyone else's, but I feel like you have to have played the other ones to say it's one of the best or worst in the series because otherwise, what are you even comparing it to?
