The life expectancy of superbike riders still remains significantly lower than non superbike riders, so losing a drag race really doesn't make you a loser if you live to 80 and the race winner is gone at 25.

I'd rather die young, what would I be doing at 80? I would sure as hell not be doing the things I love and do now because at 80 most can't even walk properly anymore... so what's the point?
@markalbert9011
@markalbert9011 5 ай бұрын
@@ccglados1337 You're not the sharp one in your family are you? Gone doesn't necessarily mean death. You can just as easily LIVE to 80 after a bad bike wreck, it's just the last 50 years of your life you'll be being fed by someone getting paid minimum wage and pissed off at the world, then later have your diapers changed by someone who doesn't even speak English. Or maybe you'll get lucky and just end up disfigured in a wheel chair.....impotent but still full of hormones and desire. Wanting, needing sex but unable to orgasm. I don't know about you, but I love sex more than any other human activity and there are legions of bikers who never fucked anyone again after the wreck.

I remember buying my GS1100S Suzuki Katana in 1983. A friend of my brothers had a Harley and was trash talking my GS1100S stating that he could beat me in a race. I told him the stats on the Suzuki's quarter mile. He then changed the challenge to a race from LA to Vegas. I just laughed and said I would only do the race if he put up his "pink slip" for his Harley! He declined.

As much as the Hog is dirt slow by bike standards, a 13.5 pass is definitely entry sports car territory; about equivalent to a Challenger R/T. He'll be able to leave 90% of vehicles on the road at a stoplight with that. It's no race machine, but even a slow bike is pretty brisk.

@Ark GB Lol no it is not. A stock V6 Camry runs about a 15 flat, maybe just dipping into the 14s with really good tires. That's already not-bad, enough to drop most regular small-block cars from the muscle car era (but not the special ones like Z28 or Boss 302). As I said above, a 5.7 Challenger or Charger does about 13.5 all-stock.
@JETZcorp
@JETZcorp 2 жыл бұрын
@Ark GB How out of it are you? The 5.7 has almost 100hp more than a V6 Camry (or a V6 Challenger for that matter, which is also a 300hp car). And for what it's worth, those 5.7 cars can and will get to similar top speeds as an R6, as the police have demonstrated on a few occasions. Fast is a relative term. Until you're in Top Fuel, no matter what you have there's always someone who can legitimately say your shit is slow. But as a point of fact, 13.5 is faster than 90% of the cars on the road. I never said that was thundering monster speed. I said that was "entry sports car territory" and "brisk". It is what it is. If you just can't even survive without dailying a 12-second car, that's up to you. The most fun vehicle I own is a bike that won't even do 60mph.

@@JETZcorp absolutely right... There's so much more than straight lines, although this was a drag"race"- it's an exhibition about the enjoyment of speed - my take on this is holding onto this "speed" on a well sealed National Park road in a 1300cc 1970's car - slingshotting past a superior vehicle on the other side of a blind crest having built "speed" up with patience and timing half a mile back and holding nervous system in check not to taaap oout at whatever may present itself around the bends and curves you think you know?! *grin*

We need to show respect to each other for the simple fact that we all ride on two wheels. Of course Harleys are not made to be fast, they're cruisers and they're great at it! Sports bikes are made for speed and tracks and they're great at that. No bike is "a real bike" cause they're two completely different things. Douchebags will always exist on either side. I personally don't find that "confort" they're all talking about on cruisers. I've ridden many types of bikes. Even at slow speeds and gentle riding, I will always feel better on a sport bike. If I really want to get comfy, I'll take my enduro out, now that's confort. 😉 Ride on !

The difference? A stretched swingarm, turbo charged busa that's probably also running a DOT drag or full slick tire setup and weighs 5-600lbs..."racing" an N/A street Harley with full touring setup weighing about 900lbs. This was not the Busa "taking on" the Harley but rather 2 riders taking their bikes to the track to see what they could do and happened to line up next to each other.

Years ago my nephew discovered that the rules for the stock Hayabusa class allowed him to put his previous pro stock setup in a modified stock GS frame. His setup was mostly a race setup and he won a closet full of trophies running against mostly stock hayabusas. Great times since the rule changes to pro stock forced him to add weight so the Harleys would be competitive. Negotiating the rules is the ballgame.

I’ve had and raced a turbo Busa, and can tell you the first thing I notice is that the Busa in the vid is turboed. U can see the dump pipe sticking out of the fairing. As mine was, it’s also stretched a bit, looks to be 2-4” over on the swingarm. Helps put the power down easier without wheel spin or wheely-ing. That being said, a 9 flat is very, very slow fir a turbo busa. Perhaps he’s new to it.

@@FIVE-0-APOCALYPTO clearly you know nothing about street bikes in drag racing. I have 2 busa’s one has a built engine 1450 and is stretched 4inches over. I can run 8.8s easily on that bike. Then i have a 2001 hayabusa built around nitrous. I can run 7.8s all day without trying. If you look at all the fastest street passes ever they are turbo hayabusas. This is the first time I’ve seen a turbo bike run over 9s, it’s very slow for this motorcycle

Not a bad time really for the Harley either. Might be many stock sport cars and muscle cars that would struggle to catch up with that =)
