The Malaysian service is pretty accurate. That's how they do it even in grocery stores. like they literally ask you if you want to pay for a bag for 30sen when you buy a pile of groceries over 100 ringitt. Some even run a scam where they only keep expensive fabric bags which run at over 3 ringitts. And of you ask for a normal plastic bag which is inexpensive they say they dont stock it. You have to bring your own bag or risk spending the extra money. no not all countries are that bad. Though they arent good to the extent of Japan's service. Also not all Malaysian stores are like that. Better branded stores give you pretty nice bags on their own
