Great video Kevin. You jam packed this video with tons of useful information, I can now say i know the difference between a low-tech and high-tech planted tank. Also, great tip about turning off the light every few hours to help with growth. Thanks for sharing bud

AQUA NUT Thanks....there is alot in there but i hope it comes across clear enough. there is alot of debate on the subject but i hope this simplifies it. and the mid day lighting rest works wonders for low tech tanks.

Yeah i programmed that into my timer and noticed they looked a bit better when i got home. I think you did a great job on this video. Cant wait for the next one bud.

Helpful info, I wish watched this before saw TGM 's beautiful scapes but had no idea how that costs a lot. Now I'm going mid tech and budget, and keep learning a lot. Many starters make big mistake when not getting enough knowledge and just do the start and then restart , haha.

+Oleg Reshetov Yeah i always find that too many jump head on into full high tech big money without learning the underlying principles and then struggle. Mid tech still achieves great results....i am a big fan of doing co2 with lower lighting as well.

Reggie's H&P Cichlids Hey thanks, glad you like it. i noticed some glitches in the captions but hopefully that will be fixed soon. But please share it around as much as you can....the more this grows the sooner i can start doing giveaways... i have some cool stuff in the wings!

Great video! I don't want to throw everything out... But I have reevaluated what I want to achieve. It's set up at the school I work at and I want my 20 gal long to be more long term stable. Is there a way to keep my CO2 bottle and regulator, but just do one bubble a second? I switched to Java fern hoping it would out compete with the string/hair algae, but it's not. Can I just cut back the EI method ferts to 1/2 dose and lower the light intensity to make it more of a low tech stable tank, even though I have hi tech equipment?

John Zimm You can do exactly what you're suggesting...i would keep the co2 higher than 1 bps...you will find great stability with co2 enriched water, lower light intensity (or shorter photoperiod) and leaner dosing. The hair algae is caused mainly by too high of lighting in fluctuating or low co2. As we know, light drives photosynthesis, upping the demand for nutrients and co2 leading to potential imbalance if these two parameters do not meet the demand. So yeah...lower light, leaner ferts but still good co2 enrichment...and always consistency.

I like the videos but I think you should work on audio sometimes it doesn't sound clear. like a echo or something.

+Ahmad Echols Thanks for watching...glad you enjoy them so far. And yeah, as far as that echo goes....i am filming in my fishroom so there is a lot of glass reflecting sounds...but now that the channel is picking up steam, i am going to start investing in some audio baffles to clean up the sound a bit

Yet neither examples seem prepared to ask the correct questions,,, ,If I allow my 24 LITRE fish tank to evaporate by three or four inches what occurs? The soluble constituents increase,, nutrient concentration increases, toxin concentration also increases making them more accessible and easier to SEQUESTER.. This results in MORE plant growth leading to an increased rate of biological processes and in doing so a better ability to sequester toxins,,,,, then when i top the fish tank again with fresh water of that amount what occurs? The system resets itself to begin to process of dynamic contraction again with far less toxins readily available than was previously the case.....! Now ask the correct questions again,,,,, why am i needing to add nutrients and co2 ? Could it be that i have spent this long looking at the process of evaporation as an effect to keep on top of rather than an essential variable to utilise to my advantage..??? KMT
