Beardbrand is a men’s grooming company that is helping men keep on growing by providing education and tools for urban beardsmen to master their morning routine. We’ve found that confidence starts with self investment, and allows men to do great things for their families, co-workers, and community. The difference between utility balm and styling balm is that one isn't in stock, and the other one isn't either :p

I have just bought your Lumber Yard Utility one at Target after standing in the isle for like 20 minutes aggressively looking up each brand they had to see reviews and such until finally landing on my decision. I don't have the longest beard yet but growing it out nonetheless and have reached that point where it needs a bit of TLC. Being that this is just my first day with it I can't objectively say much but my impression so far is pretty damn positive. I love the subtle scent, I love the texture, and I hope this product will be my faces best friend for a long while. I really wanted to purchase a different scent but all they had was the Lumber Yard. I do like it well enough, but it isn't exactly a scent I can say is me if that makes sense.

I use beard oil in my damp beard I Then Mix styling and utility balm together. (utility 2/3 to styling 1/3). put on beard, work in on top of oil, then blow dry and style. Works great! (I get a nice hold, but not stiff, but also with a nice sheen. Try it!

I used oil exclusively when my beard was new and short. I then started using a conditioning balm when it got a bit longer along with oil. As it grew out, my left side developed a very annoying cow lick that the conditioning balm couldn't control so i started using a styling balm and learned how to blow dry it straight. I keep it a medium length because i just don't have time to do lots of maintenance to keep it looking good.

I noticed cream is uneffective on palms compared to an Utility Balm. Also, btw, I placed the Styling Balm in the microwave and double checked it did not spark (if there is any metallic in the label). Before, placed a little water and CBD into it. And added a drop of cream later.

I use oil first and then apply tea tree styling balm and comb it into place! Tea tree smells less tea tree-ish to me, and more spearmint/peppermint like, but I still like to use it! It feels a bit harsh to apply in the beginning but after letting it sit in my beard for a few minutes it starts feeling softer and nicer to touch. EDIT: It seems on your website a lot of other people left similar comments for the styling balm also claiming due to the stiffness and hardness of the product it easily pulled out beard hairs as well
@EricBandholz
@EricBandholz 6 жыл бұрын
Interesting about the styling balm pulling hairs out. I personally haven't had that issue; but I use a very small amount of the product when I style my beard/mustache. I always prefer a beard that is closer to natural movement, then one locked in place. I definitely differ from Greg Berzinsky in those regards. I think part of highly styling is it make have side effects like pulling out more hairs. And your nose is a good one. Tea Tree is blended with multiple other fragrances to give it the unique smell. Peppermint notes are in there and usually hit first.

I got a utility balm for Xmas. The urban garden in the white range. I doubt I'll ever use oil again. Even though it's the cheapest in the range It's great stuff. The silver and gold must be out of this world! I'll get some other scents when they are back in stock. And the jar is great value as you only need a tiny little bit. Would the Styling Balm be good for a slick back comb over? I usually use pomade, specifically Suavecito. I like styling my hair just once a day without having to worry about restyling it throughout the day. would this product do the trick, or is this more for a natural type of look? Any advice would be great, thanks in advance!

Hey Eli I have the same style but my hair is often finicky. I used to use Suavecito but found it left a lot of residue in my hair. I switched to LayRite super hold pomade that works really well and washes out cleanly. Haven't tried beardbrand styling bomb yet but they're around the same cost. LayRite definitely works better for me over Suavecito though.

M Brashares ya Old Money is an amazing fragrance. It's our best seller in the gold line. I don't have the product dev calendar in front of me, but I think the wash and softener will be first. I wash with your beard wash every 2 days, I used utility balm every day, and then I use just a bit of wax to keep me from biting my mustache hairs, though the wax's hold isn't as high nor last as long as some other products I've tried. I have yet to pick up the styling balm or the beard softener. Can you use the beard softener with a utility balm and styling balm? I notice that I'm still losing hairs and getting the odd hairs that are like clumped together and even getting a bit of breakage. I have a pretty dense beard so it doesn't really take away from the over all body but the thicker the better and I cry over every hair I lose or damage. RIP to all my fallen hairs lol.

What’s your suggestion for the best smelling styling balm? Also would the styling balm work with someone who just started to grow their beard out? @Beardbrand
@Beardbrand
@Beardbrand 6 жыл бұрын
My personal favorite styling balm is Tea Tree. But it really comes down what your personal preference is when it comes to how you want your beard to smell. If you’re looking for something a little more woodsy, Tree Ranger will be your go to; on the other hand, if you want something a little different with a more unique twist, Spices Citrus really is a fragrance all its own. I don’t think there’s anything else out there that quite smells like it (and I mean that in a good way) hope this helps! - Jack

Target carries our White Line of products (Blank Slate, which is fragrance free, and Lumber Yard, which has a more woodsy feel to its smell). Both are about $15 each for a bottle beard oil or a jar of utility balm. - Jack

Matthew Pearson that product currently isn't in development, but one day I would like to launch it. Probably more of a 2019 thing.

Eric likes to change his look from time to time, no harm in that. Also, you can let our support team know if you’d like to try something (when you’ve opened an order with us). - Jack

TheBAMFBrothers! Never too young to start a good skin care routine. I wish at your age I was much better at using sunscreen. Now I have sunspots all over my arms, shoulders, and face. Also, you're going to be much more equiped to fight your acne when it comes.

I have the tea tree utility balm and love the texture of it and enjoy massaging it into my beard. I've also started using it on my dogs leg post op knee surgery earlier this week. because of the buttery consistency it turns into, it makes for a great massage cream to help reduce the swelling and also rubbing it into the skin for it's conditioning properties as well. Her leg was shaved as a result of preparing for the knee surgery so I massage it about a half inch outside of the surgical incision/stitches and around the rest of the bruised and swollen areas. My dog falls asleep as I massage it in... I've used more of it on her leg than in my beards since I purchased it last week so I need another jar soon... lol Here's me rubbing it in... kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWWycn6bmbOCnpI Beard on bra!!

Also, I either put oil or balm on first then comb. My beard isn’t long, only about 1.5 inches at most
