This band deserves a yearly candlelight vigil. The fact they don’t exist anymore literally ruins my soul. At least the music they left behind is magical. Also, this band is still is underappreciated. If you’re reading this in 2022, you’re a real one

For real ..id even be happy if they released a single every few years...don't need a full album or a tour ...I've seen them live an it is an experience I can take with me to the grave ...but I'd love some new tunes from them every now and then haha

I’m here for my Son Alex Whitton. He set himself free from pain on 3/9/24. He loved DEP. He wanted the feather tattoo but never got the chance. I did that for him. Whenever I hear this song now, I feel a mix of pain, hurt and euphoria at the same time. Fly high Alex, forever 22. Mum loves you always ❤

I know I'm going to get crucified for saying this but I like Dillinger's newer material. It's not always in your face. Like life it's chaotic at parts, but there are also points of softness, feeling and emotion. It's cool
@flyingpirahna1680
@flyingpirahna1680 9 жыл бұрын
***** The softer parts make the heavy parts hit even harder for me. The dynamics and contrast of going between super chaotic and soft are much more emotional than constantly bashing around.

***** i completely agree. i saw them live like 7 years ago and even though they were great live they were so chaotic and loud and that's cool and all but they didn't fully catch my attention. just recently though i went back and listened to this album and man i'm hooked!! i love the contrast they can have. the range of Greg's voice. either way, i'm glad i'm on board now :)

The negative comments on this thread are hilarious. These dudes continue to melt faces live and in studio. Here, they're showing that they can actually write a tasty song with a "traditional" arrangement while sprinkling in some clever and difficult phrases and song writing devices. To anyone who thinks they are "selling out" or "getting soft", go see them live and stand in the middle of the room. If you're still bored or standing ten minutes into their set, you win.
@piworower
@piworower 6 жыл бұрын
i win. stood in the middle of the croud too many times in 2002.´before the whole mike patton thing, which grabbed me when i first heard it but they have been going that direction ever since. but i'll agree with you for sure, it is just not what i remember them as being. you cant calculate infinity forever i guess. and for what it is worth, that album is still as good and as fresh as ever, so DEP can do whatever they want. rip chris penny. (he is not dead btw)

I saw them open for Mr. Bungle back in summer of 2000 at the Metro in Chicago. There was absolutely nothing soft about any of it, nor anything they’ve done since. Even the rest the stuff off this same album is still within the same vein as anything else they’ve ever done. Not sure what these peeps are trippin on...lol

Dillinger need to do more stuff like this. In this song the intricate guitar parts are accentuated and flow beautifully, where as in other songs its harder to hear what they are doing. Not saying they should throw away their hardcore punk roots, or get any less heavy, but maybe mix the sound with different genres like in "Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants" or "Mouth of Ghosts". Those are the songs that really show how genius this band is

Im a huge metal head but never heard of them, got this song at random on spotify and fell in love with it. Heard the entire cd and didnt like it much. Came here to see whats up and seems like if you are a diehard fan this is not at their top. This goes to show how crazy and massive the metal world is!!

I’m the exact same way, i had a Spotify recommendation for this and I now love this song but the rest of the cd isn’t something I enjoy as much, I’d definitely be skipping through the rest of the songs just to hear this one.

Its songs like this and black bubblegum, that bring their music full circle for me. It's like seeing fine china being built by the butcher & vice versa. If you can't appreciate the range of diverse sound, you can't appreciate The Dillinger Escape Plan at all, or life for that matter. I'm at awe in the full spectrum. keep up the good work fellas! Nothin but love!

They wrote one of the most metal songs ever with this one. The fact that it makes all those "broot41" douchenozzles, or all those guys who need wonky time signatures in every song, turn away is just an added bonus. Love this so goddamn much. Already giddy for a new album, and will never be unsatisfied with this one.

Their song "Unretrofied" is really similar to this song. Its from their Miss Machine album. And "Widower" from their Option Paralysis album is very similar, but its a slow instrument for the first minute or two.

it would be more like lets stay together and both die (inside or however you want to take it) as opposed to im trying to get rid of you so as I can be free and live (grow whatever) but tragically will then become lifeless for the lack of you. this is what makes a truly great song, so few lyrics and such a complex and abstract message
