I love Ding, I love King's Indian, I love Daniel King and it's uploaded right for lunch. All I need is to suddenly become rich and I'll have all the good things in life all at once. :D

Really enjoying the Ding Fest Daniel, please do continue. I'm curious as to why we don't see the King's Indian being played by Ding in his later years?

Corridor Mate after Queen sac. A rather mundane name for a subtle yet spectacular finish to a double-edged, nerve-jiggling game..

Great game and brilliant final combination. So after Black's R takes the B on b6, White has two tempi before D-day; he uses them to shuffle his Q back to d2, which... didn't help. Can I assume there's nothing else he can do to avert his impending doom?
@PowerPlayChess Жыл бұрын
By that stage White is utterly lost and Black actually had several ways to win.

The Ding's Indian, unorthodox and very complicated. I thought Qxg2+ worked the move before he played Rb7 with the same idea that mate was unstoppable. Interesting game.
@roland_k1889 Жыл бұрын
I thought that too. I checked with an engine and found after: 34. ... Qxg2+ 35. Bxg2 Rxg2+ 36.Kh1 Rb7 37. Nc7 Rxc7 38. Rb7 and the fun is over. That's why Ding played Rbb7 first.
@skakdosmer Жыл бұрын
Does King ever play the Ding's Indian? I did play many games in this opening, though rarely anything this spectacular, I'll admit. I wish I'd known about Ding and his games, but he was probably not even born at the time.

At 11:25 instead of ...Rf7, Why not ...Bxf1 as planned now that White's Rook is not on 2nd rank??
@pranavchinmay Жыл бұрын
Good question. It seems Qxf3 is forced to defend g2. But then black has Bxg2. I guess white can play Qxf8+ Kxf8 Rb8+ Kf7 R1b7+ but that doesn't seem to lead anywhere and white is down a queen for only a rook.
@wall0511 Жыл бұрын
@Pranav Chinmay I think the line is: ...Bxf1, Qxf3 Bxg2, Qxf8+ Kxf8, Rb8+ Kf7, Nd8+ if ...Kg8 or ...Kg6 then Ne6, if ...Kf6 then Rf1+ followed by Ne6.
@pranavchinmay Жыл бұрын
@@wall0511 I see, the line up to Nd8+ makes sense. But if black plays Kf6 there is no Rf1+ since the bishop is on g2. So Nd8+ Kf6 Ne6 Qg4 Nxg7 and any bishop move should be crushing for black, right (just Bf3 Kf1 Qg2 Ke1 Qe2#)? White could maybe try Rf8 instead of Nxg7 but black can just block with Rf7 and I don't see what white does.
