For sure, again I didn't come up with the fix (another big Thank You to Klaus Schmidinger), but was happy to put it in a form people could easily digest. I agree on the soldering... I can do it but it can be nerve wracking, especially on small circuit boards. Thanks for watching.

I have done this mod as well On my H3 and the improvement was night and day when it comes to immersion. Great video and really glad to hear DoF fixed this already

Hey I had 2 motors that would turn off after crashing my buggy in bmg drive. The fix you are showing in this video fixed that problem as well!

Thank you for the great video, I bought my P6 in Sept 23 and I was having issues when doing fast rolls in DCS, the P6 would seem to bottom out with a clunk and nothing I did fixed it. I installed the diodes ( my boxes were a bit different but being an Engineer I knew what to do.) After installation the roll issue is gone and I am so happy. I wonder why DOF never informed its buyers of the possible fix?

You are very welcome!!! I personally can't believe how big a difference it made on mine... I think I got use to it and forgot how jarring it was. I'm loving having the diodes in mine and recommend this to anyone having this issue. The good news is now DOF installs this mod from the factory. Better late than never I guess? Great fix and video my brother still patiently waiting for my H3 to H6 upgrade kit with no cogging along with the hardware for mounting the new H3 motors with the break encoders and I think I’m going to need the kit for one of my boxes for the break encoders upgrade. So hopefully dof reality will make it happen. And hope to hear something soon.

Hey Mark! Thanks - great post again! I reached out to DOF to validate this fix has been implemented, and it has! However, the issues you mentioned in your upgrade video: 1. Adding cone spacers to the struts 2. Removing excess framework that makes contact with the struts during extreme motion Have not been fixed. The cone spacers I can do myself, thanks to your explanation. However, the excess fame issue is a deal beaker. That is a built in flaw that will ruin the unit over time. I'm not very handy with extreme power tools so I am at an impasse. Thoughts?

@@holdenmcgroin5276 The stock setup doesn't have the frame issue, I did some changes to mine that caused that problem. You should be fine in that area so don't worry.

I had this issue but more severe that it even shut off the rig so had reboot it to work. The diode fixed the issue

@GYGOtv I wonder if it's a combination with having the emergency stop button installed. With it installed I can't turn on the rig without the USB being unplugged first

@@TommyVR Well that should be easy enough to test. Just unplug the E-Stop from the Control Boxes and see if it works... E-Stop does not need to be plugged in for the DOF Rigs to operate. Of course, maybe the E-Stop button is just accidently pressed? I've done that in the past too. Good Luck.

@@TommyVR Weird, must be a faulty E-Stop? Obviously first make sure the button isn't depressed accidentally, then maybe look at the button's wiring to see if there is anything shorting out. The way they work is when they "close" they turn off the motion so a short would cause that too. Good luck.

Hi Mark, great video, I have the original H6 with upgraded SFU gearboxes like you, after watching your video I will implement this to my rig and see how it goes, BTW what do you think about the firmware upgrade mentioned on his site, are you going to try that at all?

I've been running the mod for about 2 weeks now and all I can say is DO THE DIODE MOD!!! I can't believe the difference it made! I haven't seen the firmware notice, can you be more specific. I personally only upgrade firmware if directed to do so by DOF Customer Service. I'll look into it if I can see what you are talking about. Thanks.

Great video. If I we're to do this fix just to see if it helps. Is there a risk if hurting anything if the fix isnt necessary? I purchased a p6 early 2024.

Officially I can't answer that but theoretically it shouldn't as all you are doing with the diode is stopping feedback of power like a check valve. Also what I can tell you is many many people have done it and I've not heard of any problems, in fact DOF themselves have started putting the diode in the newer models so I think you should be fine. Of course in the end it is up to you as this is a modification to your system. Hope that helps.

H6 will handle most home use. The only reason you would want a P6 is if you are operating it 8 hours a day/ 7 days a week. Or if you plan to put a lot of weight on it, the P motors can handle a little more. Hello, I recently got a quest 3 for my first headset.. the lenses are already really smudged. Do you have any tips on how to clean the plastic lenses without scratching them? Is it ok to use compressed air on them before wiping them?

I don't know what Meta "Officially" say but I use Lens Cleaner and a Microfiber cloth. Works for me. Not sure about compressed air as I could see that blowing dirt into the optics between the lenses and screen potentially. Just treat the lenses like you would any pair of glasses. If you run into this problems a lot, you could think about getting some protective lenses from say Hons VR (prescriptions without any correction just to protect the glass). That might be a good option for you too. Thanks for the question.

I wanted to let you know that I paid for a P6 and they charged my card 15 days ago and no word from them even after I emailed them, no response. I am disappointed that they say it usually ships within 5-10 days and after 15 it has not and they did not address this issue after I emailed them.

@@GYGOtv Coincidentally they responded at midnight eastern time and said they left the order open for an additional 5 days as they thought I was ordering the upgrade to P6R but I am not sure why they thought that and they said that it was packaged and ready to go by Dec 12th 10 days after order date but they only have pickup from the delivery company every 14 days so so much for their usual time frame but at least I got the response and thank you for your willingness to assist I really appreciate it.

There are a lot of people who are accidently not including the No Cog Mod (the r) when they wanted to have it, so I'm guessing it was unusual to see one that was wanted that way. I don't know for sure but that is my guess. They are usually pretty good at keeping everything moving pretty efficiently. Hope the rest of your DOF Experience goes great! Thanks for the update.

@@GYGOtv Update here, 26 days later and no indication of shipping and last message I got from them is they have no more information for me and so this sits in limbo. I was not sure about the R version and didn't want to throw another 500 on the rig since there are a lot of other things to purchase after the build. Honestly if there is the option to make the high end system better it should just be included I already thought I was paying for their best option.

@@markmidkiff5071 Interesting, email me your order details and I'll ask Igor to follow up, 26 days is way out of line with what they normally do so something got messed up there for sure. As for having the "no cog" automatically on there... some people don't feel the "cogging" effect and also they would have to raise the prices to cover it, so this gives an "affordable" option for people who are not a sensitive to the motion. I do agree it could be made much clearer on the website however! Thank for the update.

If it is older than August of this year, you probably don't have the fix. They just started adding this in August. Now if you don't notice any weird movements then you might not need to worry about it either. BUT the fix is pretty easy and pretty affordable so why not. Thanks for the question.

Hey i just started playing sledders, it's fun but no motion. Do you know of a way to add motion to a non motion game?

If you have the SRS Premium Account, you can emulate pitch, roll and yaw with the "Joystick" setting under the "Setup" tab. I have to do this with Star Wars Squadrons. Not as good as having telemetry, but better than no motion at all. Hope it works with your game.
