Shit, me too. I hear people saying my name, constantly, over and over again. It'll be either of my parents, sometimes both at once, usually voices I can't identify as being male or female or that seem vaguely familiar but can't place exactly where I've heard it before. Saying my name, but the most common is probably "Hey" in a whispered voice like you may to wake somebody up who's asleep in class without alerting the teacher, forceful but very very quiet and from an indeterminate direction, sometimes it sounds like the voice is coming from underneath furniture or directly behind me

I felt like my brain was being electrocuted. Then I started hearing voices, sirens, snd I felt like the radio was talking to me personally. Someone ended up taking me to the hospital and as I lay on the gurney, I felt something pulling me off and voices saying, “She’s mine!”. Then I saw insects and spiders crawling up and down the walls and all over my arms. Everyone’s faces looked extremely evil. It was truly the most terrifying experience I ever had and I personally feel like God allowed me to see a glimpse of hell so I could get my life together.

I took between 750 and 1,000mg, this was 8 years ago so I don’t remember exactly. The most visual hallucinations I got was those eye floater things, about the size of snakes, circling the corners of my ceiling all around the room (where the wall meets the ceiling). Auditory, it sounded like I was in a crowded, echoing subway station. Like being in a crowded place, everyone is talking but you can’t hear what they’re saying. My depth perception practically disappeared. To an outside observer, it would look like I was walking in slow motion with very exaggerated, bring your knee up to your stomach type steps. That’s because the ground felt like it was 5-10 feet away from my feet, and I thought I was going to fall. My center of gravity was fucked too. Felt like whenever I took a step, my waist and chest were moving instead of my legs. Finally, I know from my parents that it was impossible to talk to me because I was so incoherent. I didn’t hallucinate people that weren’t there, but when my mom asked me a question I replied as though she were one of my coworkers. The way they found out what I’d done is I went downstairs in just underwear and one sock. My dad took me up to my room, and I had some kind of seizure while in bed, so he called the ambulance. Taking Benadryl to get high was peak stupidity, and I hope nobody ever makes the same mistake.

I drank about a bottle of childrens benadryl when I was 23 only because I had a bad sunburn that had uncontrollable itching.. it seriously made me feel like I was going insane I wanted to cry.. I was desperate but thankfully I didn't have a bad experience with the benadryl.. I did have a moment of an outer body experience and it felt like time had stopped but at that moment I thought I should just sleep it off since I didn't like how I felt.. but let me tell you.. So much respect to you for this. I've been thru it as well. I was on probation when I went thru my phase on it, and in high doses it will show up on urine drug screens as Fentanyl. They can send it back to the lab to break it down and there's a way to see it was from the diphenhydramine. It's extremely important information to put out to the world, especially in america where addiction is put of control. I have almost 3 years clean now by the grace of God. But anywho, I just wanted to say I respect the heck out of you for posting this, it's so scary..

It's been over 2 years since I tried to unalive by taking 2g of diphenhydramine (I didn't know at the time that it caused a high) but watching this is so familiar. I can see myself sitting on a hospital trolley looking at a dirty canvas circus tent in the middle of the hallway, or sitting on the step waiting for an ambulance and seeing the road surface crack and shudder while giant bats flew around the street lamps, or talking to a police officer who suddenly froze, just staring at me, so I asked her what was wrong and suddenly she vanished and I was looking at a parking meter. I would have been terrified usually, but I just... accepted it? What a hell of a drug. I'm amazed it's sold OTC.

A lot of medical support in the resuscitation room, complete with defib pads stuck to me because they fully expected me to arrest during the night, and a hell of a lot of luck. I think my weight helped - I was fairly overweight at the time, and fatal dosage is dependant on body weight, so I guess good thing I only bought two packets of tablets and not three?

I swear the drug reveals your fears. I just never saw much that wasn't bugs. But then again I also don't remember most the day. Most my day was fear. I remember a lower dose I saw a large faint gold spider on the ceiling in the dark. The thing is it's imagination, so the visuals are limitless. Glad my mind kept it realistic. Seen one person report seeing like dinner plate size spiders on their door.

In my experience DPH is one of the worst "highs" I ever had in retrospective and in comparison to other substances. Basically it made me feel very sleepy, but you can't fall asleep. The hallucinations are somewhat like those you have, when you are very sleepy or have a sleep paralysis. For me it also came with amnesia, like when I was talking to someone, I forget mid sentence, what we were talking about 2 seconds ago. I only used it a few times, the first few times with friends, it was somewhat fun. Then to test it out, I took a really high dose, had awfull pain in the abdomen and passed out eventually, which I never did before for any reason. When I woke up the next day, I had severe headache and generally felt bad, I even thought for some time, I must have died. I even had some hallucinations for a few weeks after that, which were "flies" (black dots) flying from the outer edges of my vision to the center. I never took DPH after that and can not recommend it at all, only at lower doses to try it out once maybe.

It was 500mgs and I didn't even realize I was tripping and thought I was mostly sober until afterwards and I reflected back... It was interesting to say the least. Next time will be 700mgs and will be my last time trying it. My goal is to see and confront my worst fears, and to understand them more deeply.

Then I was looking for something and I turned around to say “I can’t find it” to my sister and realized she wasn’t there. I tripped on the pink Benedryl pills when I was 15 I took 20 and saw people in my room I was talking to myself and when it was dinner time I tried eating a wet wash Wrag I was confused and I walked to my friends house and couldn’t remember how I got there or how I got back home. I saw my friends in my room and my dad asked me who I was talking to and I said my friend and I pointed at my bed. My dad brought me to the emergency room and when I got there the doctors thought I was fine. After getting back home I started hallucinating again and grabbing a video game case and thinking it’s a iPad or watching tv when it’s not turned on. I was a real dope back then lol

talking about my experience with abusing dph has been so embarrassing for me, cos it really did alter my life in so many negative ways but people are only used to hearing about people abusing heroin and meth and stuff like that, so i never felt like i was addicted to a "bad enough" drug. even if it isnt as deadly as harder stuff and street drugs, it was still a nightmare to endure the dysphoria and derealization that resulted from it. im like, give or take, a few weeks sober and ive been sm happier.

I formerly used OTC drugs (typically several when I wanted to sleep) to deal with sleep apnea and to a lesser extent insomnia. Not recreationally. One night/day I had the worst bout of insomnia in my life. At the time, all I had left was diphenhydramine (BAD luck). I'd also built up a tolerance to these drugs (diphenhydramine, doxylamine, melatonin, etc.). I took a bunch of diphenhydramine to sleep at night but it didn't work at all. Later on during the afternoon, I tried to sleep again and it wasn't working. Out of frustration I ended up taking WAY too much. I woke up about 3 hours later and KNEW I had seriously fucked up. I did some research and realized it could be fatal. I ended up reluctantly calling an ambulance. My dad and stepmom live in the same neighborhood and saw the ambulance but didn't know if it was for me or not. Before I went to the hospital, I was mainly just extremely dizzy and felt pretty bad overall, like I was dying. At the hospital, that's when the hallucinations started. I was watching old Patriots games on the left side of the hospital curtain while watching old Celtics games on the right side. I saw my male nurse tell me that my mom was there (she never showed up, she just called). I saw my dad come in and sit down outside my "room" (they were short on beds so I stayed in the emergency room the whole time). My (relatively) young, strong and healthy body fought off the OD pretty quickly actually (doctors told me this) and I felt normal after about 6 hours or so. But they kept me there longer out of some concerns and whatnot. The EKG and questions about whether I was suicidal (I was NOT and I was mad at myself for fucking up so badly). I had told family that I had food poisoning and the doctors wanted me to give them permission to release my information but I refused. They took that as a sign that I had been suicidal (I actually wanted to leave early because I had things to do and have a lot of plans and aspirations in general). It messed me up emotionally for a little while but I'm fully recovered now and it didn't take too long to recover. I'm a pretty resilient person, especially these days. I quickly ended up telling my mother and brother about what happened (they saw through my lie right away even though I went to great lengths to support the false narrative) and they fully accepted it and understood and just expressed their love for me and gratefulness that I was still alive. I don't think I'll ever tell my dad. I know how his mind works. He either blames me for fucking up or he blames someone else for food poisoning me (and then at this point he'll feel betrayed or something). He drove me home from my mom's house the night I was released and I didn't need him yelling at me that night (it was extremely important that I avoid stress in that condition). So I lied but for a good reason. He was pressuring me to report the restaurant to the city and wanted to confront the owners/operators of the restaurant. He's a HUGE pain in the ass a lot of the time. I'm never going to take diphenhydramine again. Most likely never take another OTC to sleep (although the rest are A LOT less toxic and dangerous). I have a proper drug for sleep apnea and insomnia now that's being prescribed by a good doctor. I feel blessed that I'm finally getting the help that I need. It's what should have happened from the start, but such is life. I've never been much of a drug user or drinker. That's not a value judgment against those that do, it's just how I am. My strong advice to those looking to trip is to take something safer than diphenhydramine. Because in order to trip on it, you have to take so much that you could potentially die or be debilitated by it.

i took 40 kids benadryl and i was off the walls. everything started to go wack. there was a pulsing in the walls and i got so thirsty i ended up vomiting everywhere. i couldnt read and there were stink bugs made of sand everywhere. my mom rushed me to the hospital. i could hardly walk and when i talked it didn't make sense. when i was there i kept thinking i had my dispos and then id lose them but i didnt bring anything with me. not even shoes. i also saw people in the middle of the street on the way there and roadwork that never happened. as it was dying off i would look up at the cieling and there would be movies playing in the tiles, and families of crabs just walking everywhere. i even squished a stink bug that"was" on my moms nose. it was wild.

It's insane how common spider hallucinations are, I wish I could understand why. Weirdest one was early on and apparently I was found digging through the garbage. When asked what I was doing I pulled a bagel bites box out the trash and said there was an operating system inside. Like a toy in a cereal box lol. I must've woke up because my memory begins with me asking why I'm being interrogated and that I just want to go to bed (I was told the garbage can thing). However in my memory that night I recalled a dream sequence about getting a prize in a box of some sort. You will sleep walk and just teeter totter the line of consciousness and dreams, passing through both sides rapidly, fluidly, and sometimes back n forth briefly.

Here is my experience with it. Just to clarify I am 15, and I have a history of mild drug abuse. I do not condone any of this behavior. So I had a flashback when I was at the store. I remember this one girl telling me about abusing this cough syrup drug and benadryl. I saw the benadryl and decided I was gonna enjoy myself. I got it and I went home. I waiting until around 7 and took the dosage some weirdo on reddit recommended as in a way to prevent overdose and a saftey guide. I was regretting it, but I counted out my pills, 700 mg and went on with it. I could feel a sense of danger when I laid them out in piles because I do not like taking meds. But I swollowed them and waited. I texted my friend. Nothing happend. Mild shift in colors. Everything had a sinister fall lonely night vibe to it. After an hour and a half I felt nothing different. I kept seeing things on the walls but it was my brain making up stuff most likely. Then I really started feeling it. It felt kinda good ngl. Until I went to sleep and I woke up. I did not like this feeling. I was scared. Neighbors were working on their house and it was dark outside. I couldnt tell if it was there or not (it was) and I decided it was my mom banging on the door. I stood up, big mistake. I got a head ache but I went into the hallway. My stomache hurt and I felt groggy. It took so much energy just to walk down the hallway. I yelled at my brother to look outside, I was going to say for mom but I could hardly speak cuz I was just so drained. I laid back down after I heard him go outside. Regrets poured in. I turned on my fan cuz I thought noise would help. It did but I kept trying to fall asleep and then when I was close I shot up and gasped. This happened like a never ending hell. I was being edged, sucked every energy out of me. I tried taking deep breathes, I tried doing anything just to sleep. I kept going into the hallway relaized im walking and then went back to bed. Everything felt dream like. I was half there half not. I didn't see anything, no bugs on the walls. When I woke up the next morning I felt like super shit. I regretted everything up until taking the pills. I was so drained. My head ached. The sound of benadryl or taking any meds made me sick to my stomache. I slept a lot of that day, and that day was yesterday. Around 24 hours of taking the pills, I felt much better. Not great, but I could listen to music and enjoy myself a little. It's not worth it. You get the short feely good high before you are put through a lot of misery and restlessness. If you are thinking about taking this, don't. It aint worth it. Try something good ol mary jane and if your town doesn't have it, think again cuz I havent ever heard of no drug dealer not taking every town in america. They everywhere. Stay safe

You'll know you're having episodes of serious memory loss when you straight teleport or time-travel. I used to get high off of Benadryl every other night for around a year. It was the dumbest thing I could do to myself, it eventually made me feel physically sick to the point that even thinking about Benadryl would make me extremely nauseous, but I was addicted to the high even when it sucked. I would have diarrhea and serious stomach cramps. I had some awful trips and I still couldn't stop myself from doing it because I was so desperate to get high. Then my best friend, who had been begging me to stop taking it started taking it, and our roles reversed. Watching her go through it made me realize what I was doing to my body, and helped me get off of it. I have to hide the Benadryl in our house now so she can't find it. Please don't try it. It's not worth it, mentally or physically. Not to mention our memory is fucked, just like he mentions in the video.

I never purposely used DPH recreationally but I took way too much when I was going thru a bit of severe insomnia. I took a warm shower, smoked some weed, put on relaxing music and still couldn't fall asleep. So i took 50mg, nothing, took 50mg more, barely drowsy, took 100mg more and then shit got weird. I felt heavy and had minor visual and audio disturbances and when I closed my eyes to try to sleep, there were chaotic and vivid "daydreams". Nothing sinister but it was just like random shit rapidly cycling through my head. i did eventually fall asleep but god that was weird. Admittedly I did use it a few times to potentiate DXM and kratom.

I just recently did 375mg, yet the most I’ve gotten was enhanced music, restless legs, and extremely tired. No hallucinations or anything. I do recall the feelings the next day of wanting to do absolutely nothing. Napping has never been easier the day after a diphenhydramine high. I’ve only ever done it three times. The only substance I’ve found that’s really hard on me so far is alcohol (granted I don’t dabble in much else)
