It's a good harmless tactic. Maybe a little gross. Nobody wants to grapple with you then. Stand-up all day. No eye pokes or groin shots. A wrestler will still shoot. A BJJ practitioner will still roll. It's how they think and train. You might take em out of their headspace with a whiff. Their should be higene requirements, but cleanliness and not stinking are two different things. Bad cologne might do the trick but I could think of reasons to ban it on fight night..

What fight are you watching? He puts his fingers at eye level all the time to hurt his opponents even when he is attacking. Yeah, I would hesitate to attack if someone was poking my eyes the whole time. Jose Aldo uses the same technique to keep his opponents away from him, but he doesn't put his fingers at eye level. he keeps his fingers together and touches the other fighter with the palm of his hand. Jone Jones uses the eye poke to make fighters stay away from him and they are so concerned about getting eye poked that they don't see punches or kicks coming. but that is a technique that can easily end a fighters carrier, and he does it on purpose. He aims to the eyes. How do I know? because Aldo does the same thing, but he never touches anybodies eyes now, does he?

I think it's bullshit that fights are declared 'no contest' after cheap shots like that. If you take liberties with your opponent's health and disrespect the rules like that, the fight should be called off as soon as it's obvious that it was intentional and the victim be declared the winner immediately. A lot of fighters will no doubt try to continue after, say, being kicked in the testicles out of anger and to save face as they would consider it emasculating to quit and might even be laughed at for showing vulnerability and pain contrary to their macho image but the point is they should never have to put their health in jeopardy like that; the asshole that bends the rules should be immediately punished by ending the fight over unethical conduct. It is misleading to call it a draw in that situation as one fighter has obviously stooped to desperation tactics and might well have been losing the fight until then.

Otherwise, if an illegal strike ends a fight it should be a loss automatically, like it was for that scumbag Jones who landed illegal elbows on Matt Hammill
