This episode is now my favorite. Turning that trailer around on that slope was epic, nice rigging skills. One hella spot to bust a diff and with a trailer. Dirty 30 wants some love, time for a systems overhaul, best check everything for wear and stress, and just redo your breaks, you have been having issues a while now, time to rebuild the entire break system, the after market has some great break options. Epic adventure great views, good food and snapping noises. 10/10

Loved doing the high country in my $2000 Jeep Cherokee xj, handled it like a champ. Only thing that let me down was a cheap Chinese wheel bearing which was bad when I got back (but still didn't let go, just noisy). Goes to prove that on casual worker money as a student you can do the tracks and have fun doing so. Cheap 4 wheel drives are generally petrol, so 2 20l jerry cans saved my bacon. Definitely worth it.

( I wonder how happy you would look after stripping your diff? Happened to me in a Land Cruiser FJ45. Pulled out the crown wheel and pinion and ran it on the front diff. I was happy to get home but was not smiling!) Not easy towing a trailer over the rough stuff at the best of times... Not a fan of the camping trailers. I have towed enough to know all obstacles become far more technical. A 6 pack to Nick, better travels next time!

noticed most are diesel.. gas harder to find or just cost diff?
@bafman5 жыл бұрын
Diesel is actually more expensive down under at the moment (who knows why?). But diesel trucks are generally preferred - for torque, water crossings, fuel economy, towing, simplicity, etc (not such a big deal in the modern era of course). All fuel types are readily available just about anywhere, but for remote touring there are places here where you can be hundreds of miles from the nearest town - but there might be a cattle station with a diesel supply for their farming equipment. In fact, there's a famous sign on the Gibb River Rd that says "You are now closer to outer space than the nearest town". :)

need to remember the videos are aimed at a very broad group to promote sales and 99% of 4x4 owners dont drive around in 1k buckets most have 20k trucks and up. and you can easily get a 60 for under 10k so even chopped for 20k is still fairly cheap, unless you would prefer them to be rolling around in great walls and shit but then who would watch the show?
