The premise talks about how when you’re a kid and you’re constantly thinking about or waiting for something it feels like it takes forever. On the other hand however, when you’re having fun and enjoying yourself or when you are involved with other things (not constantly waiting for something to happen) it feels like time passes quicker. For example a mother promises her child they’re going to get ice cream, but only once she finishes some work she has to do; if the child spends the entire time thinking about the ice cream and how longer he’s gonna have to wait, it feels like time is moving slower. However, if instead of constantly thinking and worrying about the ice cream, he goes and plays outside with his friends, before he notices, his mom will have finished her work and they can go get the ice cream (because he was having fun, time went by faster). At least this is what I understood from the text !!

Re: the meaning of the 'cryptic' pilot that Mr Bones had talked about, if you've ever heard the old adage of 'a watched kettle never boils' or others like it, it's that. If you want to get from the time you're at right now to a later time, it's going to mentally feel like the time is taking longer. The best way to make time pass faster is to get occupied with something else! This is why the slow parts of a work day feel like they take the longest, even if time does not change what speed it flows at.

I have an update about the pilots. Was speaking to someone who worked on the backyardigans who has both tapes. Not sure if its same employee Burr spoke to but he said Janice wished to keep the pitch pilots private. So that's probably why alot of employees are not allowing it to be in the public. I think our only chances of seeing them is waiting for their sampler tapes to get out there in the wild somehow or if Nickelodeon posts more content. For now I think it is best we respect Janice's wishes.

At least we now know why it hasn't really been found or why crew members haven't shared it after claiming they have a tape, considering it's to respect the wishes of the creator. i work in TV at a major production company and will say right now that no matter the company, unless the company is far defunct, it is incredibly taboo to share unreleased materials. when a production is made, the production companies involved normally have papers on papers of legal jargon to protect media like this from being leaked without the leaker being reprimanded. at 40:45 you say that he doesnt work at Nick anymore and sharing it shouldnt be a problem. far from it. I interned at paramount (a viacom company) a few years back and they were explicit that anything i saw was confidential until publicly released. we employees were shown that knuckles was going to be on Sonic 2 some time before the official reveal came out. by time the reveal trailer came out, i was already working somewhere else. by your logic, i couldve went and told people. but i want to have a career still lol so i didnt and nobody else did for the same reason. confidentiality is king in the entertainment world. since Nick produced this pilot, they own the rights to it. the johnny bravo pilot's rights are owned by the creator so you cant ask LMU for a copy. if someone leaked it, he could easily sue whoever was involved same way viacom can do for this pilot. so while i hope this eventually gets found, anybody who has a copy is not sharing it cus they legally cant

I have a theory about why people who have copies refuse to release it. If the theory about Viacom taking down your original video is correct, then it's possible they reached out to everyone that they knew had a copy and threatened to sue them if they leaked it. Very conspiratorial I know, but I would absolutely not put it past that company, especially if they indeed shut down your original video under the pretense of a fake death threat. Also, the pettiness of the Backyardigans wiki is very weird. My theory on that is that they wanna find the pilot themselves, rather than watch you and lostcast find it and get all the glory that comes with it. Super petty, but that strikes me as the only reason why they would withhold information or even send spies into your server

I appriciate you guys looking into this kind of stuff, but contacting ex-employees who worked on it is risky. Even if they don't work for Nickelodian anymore, there could be NDAs in place that would dissuade them from giving out information, let alone a copy of the pilot. Even if there's no real legal threat, the treat of being blacklisted within the industry is high. The ones who are brave even to even respond to such requests are the outliers. I think the only real hope of finding it is if it's somehow around out there in public and just hasn't been discovered yet, but I highly doubt it.

These workers may not work there anymore, but those are still legally copyrights and owned by the company. Watching this from my perspective is kind of funny. I can see where you guys are coming from with, wanting to find the media, wanting to see it, and wanting to release it. Why can't you just get a hold of it and make it public? You don't see a downside and you've worked so hard. You guys aren't acting like you are entitled to it, but are disappointed/angry that you can't have it. As an adult that has worked places with sensitive information (more serious than just a pilot video of a series) I still understand where all these workers are coming from. With anywhere I've worked as a full time employee I've been given warning and signed papers as part of the contract for employment saying that releasing information would get me fired and sued, or possibly arrested. Talking about some things like remembered experiences is one thing but sharing that property that I'm sure these people don't feel like is their property, and that they aren't the ones to make the decision to share it, is scary. Scary either legally or ethically.

In the case of a lot of lost media, they usually end up being found entirely by accident or in the most unexpected way Let's remember that Clock Man was uploaded to KZbin by the original company that made it MONTHS before the Lost Media Wiki found it, so I imagine Me and My Friends will be found in a similar, unexpected manner, and when people least expect it.

My guess for the pilot is it originally had one of those, characters are bored doing nothing in their backyard during a summer day plots. Then, one of them has the idea to play pretend, and they end up having a good time. Based off of that weird explanation + what the show ended up being, that's my best guess at an actual plot.

Me and My Friends has to be one of, if not my favorite, piece of lost media, and i really enjoyed this documentary-ish video on the long search for this pilot! And as difficult as things currently seem, I still have my hopes :) Also, i was quite impressed by the editing on this one, Mr Bones did a great job. And dang I didn't even knew Jacine Burgess passed away, may she rest in peace. Oh and happy 15th anniversary! Quite crazy how much history this channel has :)

I can't find the words to truly express how I feel, but the Me and My Friends search is the epitome of everything I HATE about lost media as a nonspecific interest and conducting mass-public searches. Whether the death threat was real or not, the amount of poor behavior, egomaniacal behavior, and bumbling mediocrity around this whole this is just sickening. Just do better ffs.

Backyardigans turns 20 years old this year. I get the impression if Nick has anything at all they will post clips same with the Nick digital animation and didicate it to Janice. Reason I say this they did that for the Blues Clues pilot when it was 20-25 so I have a feeling that if Nick has anything we may see something than. Thank you Janice for bringing these characters into our lives. Rip. Also 3:25 My guess is the pilot was about one of the characters was bored waiting for someone to possibly take them somewhere? And the others helped them pass the time by playing games/using their imagination? Best I can come up with. Also I think the lady who has it may have just been worried she might get into legal stuff releasing it without permission. Which is understandable.

I remember first hearing about Me and My Friends back in June 2021… in the form of a FRICKIN CREEPYPASTA MADE ABOUT IT I did not know the search for it was still going on up til last year. And I didnt even know how chaotic is was. As someone who used to watch the Bakcyardigans a lot as a preschooler, I’m not sure if Me and My friends will ever get found, but if it is it would be a celebration for the entire lost media community.
