I'm a BBQ enthusiast from CA. I admire who you are and what you have accomplished. I'm moving to Aiken next summer. I'm flying out in the spring and Scott's BBQ is the first BBQ I plan to eat when I get to my new home state. I was sorry to hear about your dad. Been praying for you my brother.🙏

Had a chance to visit the original store in Hemingway SC. Got to meet Rodney's mother and kinfolks but his father passed away probably a few months before I got there. Rodney actually stays managing the new restaurant now the majority of the time so I didn't get to meet him.

Im from SC. One thing you learn quickly down there is that anyone with lineage to the Scott family, has the potential to achieve. They are a great bunch of people. I don't know Rodney but I do know many of his kin. Its just embedded in them to do well in anything they choose to do.

What an absolute Gem of a human being. Just to survive that adversity… from growing up as a young black man in a very poor area of the rural, middle of absolute nowhere, south (as someone who has been to Hemingway countless times, I’m being charitable w/ that description), the system already having a target on his back, along with an abusive father & during a time long before chefs… BBQ cooks at that… were seen as having any type of real future, and certainly no fame or fortune. To one day having several restaurants & winning an award from the most prestigious culinary group in the country. Apparently he’s pretty good at this BBQ thing (it’s truly fantastic). Man, what a story.👏

visited Charleston location 3 days ago. ribs well seasoned. not tough but no where near falling off the bone tender. 2 varieties of vinegar based barbecue sauce did not enhance flavor of ribs. brisket was very tender but unseasoned. baked beans were van camps out the can. (that was the main side that looked untouched by other customers). Mac n cheese was cafeteria quality. potato salad was on point. well seasoned and potatoes were not overcooked. greens were decent. basically over hyped but worth a try. Famous Dave's got the best restaurant ribs especially with the traditional barbecue sauce varieties (but the sides are average save the corn on the cob.)
