McDowell's book Evidence that Demands aVerdict is intellectually dishonest. That is my basic point in this video.

Good points. Given that today’s internet ecology is full of 2nd and 3rd hand accounts which just begs the question of appeal to authority, we should have seen McDowell & Strobel & the others back then as flagrantly doing the same darned thing!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this book. I was recommended to read it, and I want to consider what it says and weigh it honestly. It's helpful to know the examples you shared, like McDowell's misrepresentation in quoting Albright.

Halfway through the video, I'm waiting for the great points to prove the intellectual dishonesty of Josh McDowell's book. So far, I've gotten that the Bible is not inerrant because a lot of scholars suggest otherwise. Just trust THESE scholars, and trust that THEY have no agenda at all. Who are these scholars? And other than Daniel not being written when you thought it was written, what are they saying?

To cite someone as a reference does not mean that someone agrees with all your presuppositions nor you theirs. I could cite a number of people that i have differences with and it doesnt mean they agree with my all theology or presuppositions.

Richard I am new to this party only after serious life dramas lead me to Kabbalah, Judaism then.after reading the Tanakh seeing how the Jews treated The One Most High I was lead to read the NT. There is no question that JESUS was real, crucified and rose again. (relegiohistorical) The thing that I can't figure out is why everyone doesn't read the Bible so the can get transformed by the Holy Spirit. The proof of JESUS is " Ask and you shall find" I think if anyone authentically seeks wisdom via the Bible they will without question experience a presence of a TOTAL Transformation as promised. JESUS is the TRUTH, LIFE and the WAY... If you have some knowledge that says otherwise I would love to hear it? This is the fight of our life and very few will make it thru the Gates of Heaven. 2,990 people died on Aug, 3 1979 between 3:45-4pm MST you know how many were saved? 50 that is like 2.3% This is the ONLY thing that matters because once the lights are out G-d is giving everyone what they used their free will to obtain, The Truth is out there for anyone who wants to carry the cross daily, Blessed be HE.

I like your pre supposition... that if "one comes to the bible believing it is totally true... , more than likely...no one will convince you otherwise... but you DO realize that the opposite is true just as well?... that if "one comes to the bible believing it is NOT true...more than likely... no one will be able to convince you otherwise as well.... there fore... it appears this will ALWAY be an "impasse".. for many... I have resigned myself.. to try to avoid confrontations.. with those who prefer to "critique God's word.. rather than to embrace it.. and cherish it the time we are here on this earth... as 1 Timothy 2:16 states: But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

So I was a Christian for 30+ years and I became and atheist about 14 months ago due to critical Biblical scholarship. I was just recommended this book today when I got into a theological discussion with a couple strangers at the mall today. My first initial thought on the book is that it's probably like Lee Strobel's book... a book written by a Christian for Christians to bolster their already-existing faith. I no longer accept the Fundamentalist Evangelical Inerrant version of Christianity and so I don't see these types of Christian "proof" books as intellectually honest. They seem manipulative and misleading with the data. I prefer going to the sources myself and comparing scholarship. It's funny-as and atheist, I feel like I have more respect and honesty with scripture than most Christians. I really liked everything you said and I love your intellectual honesty.
