Honestly the thing that bothered me the most about Skip wasn’t his debate tactics or overly confrontational approach, it was that he never changed his takes on anything even after being demonstrably proven wrong. He would say something obviously wrong, have his guests prove him wrong, have his team/player prove him wrong, and then come back the next day and make some excuse for why he was still technically correct. It’s ok to be wrong, you just can’t keep being wrong about the same topic forever.

Castaways is a good way to put it. They got the boot as soon as they gave a take that leaned even a smidgen to the right. At least fox kept the politics to the news channels, nothings worse than having to hear politics on a sports channel.

a Skip obituary with a ball shaving ad...how fitting! Brother Rick was fascinated by the human mouth, while skip gravitated to the other end of the human GI tract...

Great video, and breakdown. I love the level of research you do, Perna. Fellow lifelong Bronco fan and Denver resident. Mile high till i die.

My father used to be a Mercury News football branch writer so he tells my family all of these different stories back when he worked in the same room with Skip. Our favorite story of his was during the time that many sports media rooms only had the coverage of the game at the stadium so Skip would have his wife on the phone telling him what was happening in the 49ers game he was not at. He apparently was yelling at his wife to "TELL ME THE FORMATION!!!!" Needless to say Skip was always a hothead.

For some reason, I feel like what he was thinking was: "I NEED AN EXCUSE TO CALL STEVE MARRIUCHI COACH KUMBIYA, TELL ME HIS PLAY IS GUTLESS AND DUMB!"

I reject your assertion that there was anything wrong with the tweet he sent. When stuff like that happens, it becomes a purity test online. You have to prove that you care by explicitly saying something to acknowledge Damar. Skip, like me, thinks it goes without saying; of course we're all hoping the guy comes out of that fine. Skip dared to ask a logistics question that millions and millions of people around the country were thinking, and the outrage machine culture we live in decided to take the time to roast him for it. It was the Salem witch trials and Skip was the only one who didn't explicitly state he wasn't a witch, he thought it obvious, and people decided to point at him and yell "witch." He wasn't saying "who cares about Damar," he made the mortal sin of thinking most grownups would understand that it goes without saying that we hope Damar is ok. We don't need to make a public statement to prove how moral we are when something like that happens; it's ok to consider other things too, especially when we were in unprecedented territory. If you can honestly tell me that you weren't wondering what the NFL was gonna do after cancelling that game, I call BS. Everyone wondered, Skip just is the only one who asked it publicly

You guys do such a great job here and GPS and the whole peer group - and I love watching because sports geeks talk about what they love. Skip and Stephen A just love the sound of their voice.

I never saw that comment. I think Mike Golic would take issue with Shannon's take that he's the first athlete to sit across from a journalist to debate topics...

The end of your video... You are absolutely correct. The National media is not worth watching/listening. Its always NY/LA/CHI. They dont credit the other markets and want them to fail. I'd much rather watch a YT creator because they actually care, and are much more entertaining. Go Browns! (It's okay you make fun of our QB. We do too, but if we win, we win!) Shout Out to our own Browns supporters Quincy Carter, Joey Ricotone!
