People don't truly understand just how hard people work in the kitchen. I've been working in a kitchen for about a month now and every day is really hard work, worse on weekends. But I feel a certain satisfaction knowing that I've worked hard for my wages.

i've got huge respect for ny person working in tough jobs like these. i myself worked as kitchen porter for 2 yrs in 3 star hotel in uk n beleive me i worked 14-18hrs shift for 6 pounds n 35 cents for each hr. i use to deal with nearly 1500 people's dishes daily. money was quick n gud. had no complaints abt work. i think for a hardworker nothing is difficult. better to work hard rather thn beg, steal or borrow.
@nathan24978 жыл бұрын
Yh It is tough, did it myself for a very long time as a lone kp most days and nights doing 12 hr shifts quite often, You have to get on with it in this type of job anyway, It's a constant hot hectic type work environment, your always rushed, I mean I think a good Kitchen Porter has to be hard working anyway otherwise they wouldn't last long doing the job anyway unless they are working at a very small place. I Worked for a big hotel and a big chain doing this job similar to yourself

The_Luke_Ness Same bro, what was really shit was if the chef couldn’t find something, I got all the fuckin blame, even though he just put it under some pans or a chopping board, I’d still get yelled at and called slack by the head chef, when two minutes later he finds the correct dish under his fucking mess

My job is one of the most difficult, dishes come like rainfalls and I'm the only one to wash, and arrange the plates, pots and everything, i mop the kitchen and throw the trash bags etc, today is my fifth day and I collect only 4 euros an hour and I often work for 8 hours with no time to even pee. I'm told about salary increment after a month and that keeps me moving. Yeah it sounds more than a job but yeah it's my first job here and I need to survive. When you go to a restaurant go give tips to the dishwasher he deserves it most.

So many people hate dishwashing lol. Dishwashing is very versatile. You can work as long as you want, do drugs, potentially earn more as a cook with a lil schooling (no longer than 6 months) to make a comfortable living. You can also use dishwashing as a temporary patch if you lose a job. Simply dishwash at 2 restaurants until you pick yourself back up to get the job you want. With dishwashing you can even decide to work your ass off at multiple dishwashing jobs then travel abroad for some months. Then easily pick up more Dishwashing jobs.

If you are just punching a time clock - please don't. The food service industry doesn't need more bad examples of how not to handle food safety in a professional manner, the management/owners are quite fine screwing us all on their own.

i have used an autochlor machine like that. now im in a new restaurant and I have a machine with two racks. pretty much two corner machines put together. I can say honestly that it is a royal pain in the ass if you're not paired up with another dishwasher. it's harder to clean. takes longer to refill and when stuff falls in you have to climb in the damn thing to fish it out. the worst thing by far is when something catches on a hinge on the inside, which happens more often than I'd like to admit and you have to run back and forth wasting time (cuz the machine is rather large) trying to reach the pan handle that's stuck. Whatever the bigger machine does in productivity, it ruins in complications.

I'm a dishy myself and get ready cause it's allot more than dishwashing my man, there's bins, deliverys and they will want you on desserts. My main problem is speed and shit cos it's hard to put out spotless clean dishes and be quick at the same time, not impossible just hard, especially for a 15 year old. Plus there's the heat, yelling and busyness on weekends n that
@Prismtx858 жыл бұрын
I feel ya, hang in there, you'll be alright. You may feel like you are at the bottom but a proper dishwasher is the backbone of any successful restaurant, we are the beginning and we are the end, no good restaurant can operate properly without a dishman at the helm. You must always keep this in mind and don't let anyone step on you, be assertive and take control of things, you are far more important than you give yourself credit for.

You need to go in to work and then drain the water from it (All controls are at the top) then clean out the two filters first one is where the drain is and the second one is on the side below, it is like a metal tray with holes, and then when you do that press and hold the fill button until you think it is full enough to clean dishes and then load up a rack, slide it in and then close the doors and it should start automatically.
