I'm no imagineer (duh) but I am a painter with an interest in digital fabrication. For a while now I've wondered why Disneyland hasn't painted the base of the People Mover track into something that complements Tomorrowland's attractions and colors without destroying the parts that are built into the land itself. At night, the track could glow or feature unique projections of starships, aliens, and other futuristic Disney characters. Maybe it could even be somewhat interactive if it was implemented correctly! Plus, if measurements were taken carefully of the whole track, these concepts could be developed little by little in scale models and change with the times. -Just an idea.

Hi there, cast member here! Your comment is very touching, and I just wanted to offer my insights as an insider: there are zero disabilities the Disney Company is unwilling to accommodate, in fact some of our favorite cast members are the ones who get to bring their service dogs to work ☺ anything from visual impairments, to motor, to auditory, to the hidden disabilities that make some lives more difficult than others, none are un-welcome here at the parks. And they are only going to become more accessible from now on. Take it from me: I have a severe migraine disorder that stops me from working in direct sunlight/harsh light (at least not for extended periods of time.) So when I get to work on glow carts I get to work the evening shifts exclusively where I (used to) get to watch the fireworks every night 😁. Other than that I almost exclusively work pirates because it has some of the least-harsh indoor lighting of any location. I love my leads and managers, they look out for me all the time and make sure I'm feeling okay. The disney parks also have their own medical system, so you're never far from medical treatment if you need it. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have, and I hope all your dreams come true!

It's probably safe, there's not really anything they could easily replace it with. Plus it's just not as big a deal as the complainers say it is. You're not looking at the ceiling when the lightning flashes unless you know what's going to happen, otherwise you're looking at the stretching portraits and thust simply don't see it. You can easily go through the attraction multiple times without ever noticing the body or recognizing what it is.
@rattyeely3 жыл бұрын
I hope they never remove it, thought I will understand if they do because it's a pretty dark subject to touch on in a theme park. The idea simple fix would be to change the ghost host's dialog so that he implies someone else killed him instead of killing himself, but sadly that's nearly impossible to change...

I'm not for overstuffing the Disney parks with the IPs to the point where there's nothing else, but I would willingly sell my soul to make Disney put Tiana's restaurant into one of the parks. It could be the Magic Kingdom or the America pavilion in Epcot, I don't care. It would be awesome, I want it. (Also, be really cool to get a Ratatouille themed restaurant in the France pavilion, but I guess the ride's enough)

I would have loved to see Tiana get her own attraction or restaurant if it wasn't ruining Splash Mountain. I think that instead of ruining Splash Mountain and erasing black history, Disney instead could give Tiana her own restaurant on top of what Tom Sawyer's Island used to be at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Tom Sawyer's island is rarely visited, and it wouldn't really upset anybody if it were to make way for Tiana. That would be the best option for everybody.
@katelynjoymoore3 жыл бұрын
@@goodoldfashionedangel I had the same idea about Tom Sawyer Island, but did you just SERIOUSLY say ruining SM and "erasing black history:? There is NO black history in the ride because it is all the parables from the movie Song of the South, and the movie SotS is ERASING BLACK HISTORY. THAT'S WHY THEY'RE GETTING RID OF IT. You are hiding behind "history" to support your desire to not change the parks, while clearly knowing nothing about history. SotS displays slaves and slavemasters living together peacefully and happily on A PLANTATION, conveying the idea that slaves had it good. That is literally the movie. Because I live a long distance away, I've only been to Disneyland a handful of times. Every time it was different. Things that were there one time were gone another. Last time I was there I went to the Country Bear Jamboree. Before that, the Swiss Family Treehouse. Sometime before that, America Sings. Way before that, Peter Pan had a huge skull in a lagoon in the middle of Fantasyland and Captain Hook was selling tunafish sandwiches. I totally agree with the video, things change. Sometimes even for the better. Sure I miss the things that were removed, but I don't hold it against the things that were put in their place. I've loved going there every single time!

With Redd, I feel that there were two main issues, the big one was putting her in a scene that I don't think anyone had much of a problem with (seriously, I don't think anyone complained about it, and with how beloved the auctioneer scene was, where Disney sold merch up to a year before removing that scene, it makes little sense). I feel that they could have easily added Redd at the end during the shootout where she's actually doing something and joining in with the banter. The other main issue I have with Redd isn't her, but the audio they have for her, where for some reason, while the rest of the audio for that scene sounds natural and apart of the ride, hers seems amplified, where it's far more noticeable and in turn, out of place. Basically since they're keeping her in that scene, I feel they should tweak her audio a tad to make it sound more natural within the rest of the ride and more on the same level as the rest.

As a young girl, I wanted to be a pirate; but not seeing any female pirates on the pirates ride didn't make me want to be a pirate any less, I had a blast and didn't care. I really don't like the new "Red" scene because the dialogue doesn't even make any sense, they'd have to re-record and re-configure the whole scene to make the concept of two competing auctioneers for the same set of goods make any sense. Not to mention "We Want the Redhead" makes so much less sense in context now than just "We Want the Rum". "Oh, but they were competing over the women before!" NO KIDDING. THEY ARE PIRATES. THEY ARE BAD PEOPLE. THEY MURDER, STEAL, BURN THINGS (and probably people) TO ASHES. BUT HEAVEN FORBID THEY WANT SOME PLEASURABLE COMPANY AFTER BEINGS STUCK IN A LEAKING TUB WITH A BUNCH OF SMELLY, GANGRINE-INFECTED GUYS FOR MONTHS ON END. GEEZE. The whole ride pokes fun at the romanticized view of these actually horrible criminals, while still having them be the villains. NO ONE WAS UPSET WHEN THEY DROWNED THE MAYOR AND SET THE WHOLE ISLAND ABLAZE. THAT'S STILL IN THE RIDE. And now you've essentially made it worse by adding in a Female villain in the most awkward way possible while trying to frame it like she's somehow a hero because she's also a glorified barmaid. But that ride in general has been through the washer on high through the years, and it shows.

Just because you were allowed to want to be a pirate does not mean that is how it is for all the other millions visiting the park. I’ve seen young boys get slapped in the face for wanting to wave at a princess because their dads didn’t want to raise no fairy. Disney showing that its okay to be a pirate girl is cool and awesome. It also takes away from the weird auctioning off human beings conversation that disney doesn’t need to be starting after a ride. Its just now “Daddy whats rum?” “Its a drink that makes you act like a fool.”

@@MrDrProfessorPurple I'm deeply insulted that you'd insinuate I needed permission from ANYONE to get what I wanted out of life, be that parent or multi-billion dollar corporation. Not to mention it's not Disney's job to tell people how to live their lives or raise their kids, even if their Dads are too stupid to realize that PRINCES exist. I definitely don't need Disney To tell me that it's "OK" or "Cool" to be a female or a pirate; but even if that was their intention, the ride where they LITERALLY ARE MAKING FUN OF PIRATES is probably the WORST place to do it. It was fine when she was an attractive local girl who wasn't stuck on a boat with a bunch of horny, unwashed, toothless drunks for months on end; but now as a crewmate, since she is not ALSO a horny, unwashed toothless drunk, it doesn't really make sense. And don't tell me "Pirates of the Caribbean is about EMPOWERMENT!" That's in the movies if anything; the ride is just MAKING FUN OF THEM. NO ONE THINKS THEY"RE COOL. THE POINT IS TO LAUGH AT THEIR BAFFOONERY. SHE IS NOT LAUGHABLE, AND THE EXTRA BRAIN GYMNASTICS YOU HAVE TO PERFORM JUST TO MAKE THE DIALOGUE IN THAT SCENE MAKE SENSE NOW IS JUST MAKING IT WORSE. Her animatronic is fantastic, I'd like to see them use more of those in their other rides; BUT claiming that she's perfect in the updated scene just because she's a female who's now also a pirate is dishonest. Additionally, if a kid doesn't know what slavery is by the time they're old enough to ask, they're lucky.

I always felt a simple animatronic of the ghost host waving you to follow him while hanging out one of the windows of the attic would be a good alternative to the hanging version. I know the idea is that you die like him and become one of the new ghosts but it could be played off as a taunt that he can reach the way out and you can't. I planned on putting that into the Unreal Engine version I'm working on with some other fun tweaks and additions as well.

I don't think that would be effective. Remember, we only see the attic for about a second or two. That's enough time to recognize that something is hanging from the rafters and put two and two together, but not enough time to notice an animatronic figure, focus on it, and recognize that it is beckoning you to follow. Plus a lot of unfamiliar riders aren't really looking at the attic when the scene happens, so anything more complicated or expensive that the existing hanging body would largely be a wasted effect and therefore a waste of money.
