Mongolian here, we have a lot of local callouts despite using the English version for 80% of them nowadays. In Nuke, we call Hut "Yellow" because the hut was indeed colored yellow in 1.6 and it was the only thing colored so yellow in that map. The door in A is also called differently. Also in Nuke, "Mind" has been used to callout the ramps in B, AND the control room. It can get extremely confusing. "Hell" isn't used as often as I'd want them to, it's really just "below Heaven".

I'll dispute one myself. I think "jail" on mirage is older and originates from the old cpl_strike version's chain link fencing that made the area look pretty much like a jail cell. edit: On inferno I've heard the two routes from middle be called wrap side for wrapping the long way around, and truck or porch side for the shorter one. There's a bit of language barrier problems on B as well, in my mind the closest spots to the left of the entrance will always be first and second oranges, the dark corner "emo", and coffins spools/spindles despite the game asset having changed. As far as d2, "palm tree" for what is now a light post in top mid, and "gamehelper" for the old ad behind what is now car on the 1.6 version of the map.

CS:GO translator here -- Underpass on Inferno is not called Vietnam for the same reason as it is called Mexico, as the act of calling that position Vietnam in reality came from the fact that there's also a underground tunnel system in Vietnam, but it's for a completely different purpose -- it's a mention of Địa đạo Củ Chi, part of an underground defense system that helped the North Vietnam soldiers in their fight against the US and its allies back when the Vietnam War was still raging.

Australian here, thought I'd give my two-cents. Mirage: I call "Under palace" scaffolding. I've never heard a callout for jail/forest before, ever. I just lump that in as "Bench". Inferno: I have a hybrid of your callouts - I call short, short, but long, "Arches", just like you. I call it Mexico as well, but I never knew why it was called that. Overpass: Every time I call it Optimus people unironically get mad at me. I swap between the two, I usually call it Optimus once, then swap to truck. I call both waters water, and it's only once become unclear which I've been referring to luckily. I might swap to calling one construction, since the site's water is more frequently referred to in my games. Dust 2: Yup, it's universally called bedroom here. Cache: Despite us saying "Zed" over here for the letter, we do still call it Z. I've never heard someone call it mid window unless they're specifically referring to the window itself. I seldom call it out, but I call it headshot box I believe. Ancient: (I very rarely play this map) Bedroom/Cave - I've only ever heard this called construction. So I call it construction. -- Fun fact: Some people I knew did called "Car" at the top of banana in inferno "Barrels", since they joined after the inferno remake. In Cache, the spot near the squeaky door next to quad I call "NBK". I think I heard the warowl call it that once? I've never heard another player call it out before, so people rarely understood me. In Inferno, "Church" is constantly also called "Construction" (Or Con), just like "Coffin" is constantly called "Silos". Nearly everyone understands each other despite the dispute.

If anyone is interested for how callouts go for Asian players like me specifically for Dust 2 For Chinese they always call a short (even in the catwalk side) as just A Short, even if you are still relatively near top mid. They do call out A Long (A da) Usually Anything near B, Like upper tunnel to B site itself they just refer to it as B and no specific callouts for box, car or window etc. However for Filipinos Any hit on A from the T's they always just call out just "it's A", whether it's from short or long My close circle of friends still call the T side of long doors as T side long For B, Filipinos bother to differentiate Tunnel from B itself, but from what I've experience both upper and lower tunnels are just called Tunnels either way by Filipinos. Filipinos like the Chinese tho call Short just short regardless of how far it is into mid and I once used the callout Catwalk and the Filipinos did not recognize what that was. Filipinos also call Spawns as base, T base or CT base, sometimes Attacker or Defender base on rare instances i had, probably due to the sheer popularity of valorant here I played with a few Russians and they by far are the most specific in terms of callouts and they roughly use the same csllouts as the NA and EU players on a standard basis, they unlike Filipinos or Chinese understand what "Goose" is and they differentiate the tunnels by calling lower tuns "dark" or "lower dark" sometimes, probably a nod to how dark it was in older cs titles. I found it interesting that in the span of experience I had playing with Indian players they actually differentiate short and catwalk, and they have an abriviation for Lower Tunnel to just call it LT. That's about all I know from my experience playing CSGO in Asia.

I love how the callouts change with the place you are from… So in Brazil almost everyone calls mirage's catwalk “L” and in Portugal we like to call Inferno's underground “rio seco” which translates to “dry river” and Nuke's mini “fora/dentro” which literally translates to “outside/inside” lol. I also hear a lot of russians calling Mirage's ramp “pit”?!? These are just some examples of callouts you didn't mention (mainly because theres no way for you to know these ones) that came to my mind.

for those interested in learning callouts in other countries, in Brazil we say L for catwalk(bc its a L shape lol); "areia"(sand) for underpalace(idk why, theres not even sand there); in Inferno Long is NIP(probably a reference to Ninja in Pijamas), and short Xuxa(a brazilian actress)

I think short vs catwalk can overlap. If a player is headed to short from cat, you can use callout "heading short". If a player is shooting at connector infront of the border to short, it can still be called short as to not confuse with further up catwalk
@rudolfmayer012 жыл бұрын
Agree. Callouts can sometimes just be rough areas because the enemy can move and also everything depends on context of the situation like you said. I also in general like thinking about short as either being the opposite of long (dust2 A, overpass A, inferno A) or being a zig-zag walkway to a bombsite.
@Sputnik12 жыл бұрын
Being a russian, there's a bunch of callouts that can get confused. We call heaven "nine" and hell "six" sometimes. Short can be called "ziga" from "zigzag". Tunnel can be called "kishka" - intestine, or "tyomka" from the word "tyomniy" - dark. Dust 2's long doors can be called "banka" - jar. Mirage is a complete mess - a mix of russian cs 1.6 names + russian csgo names + english csgo names. For example, we call the part that leads to B site's car is called "kovry" - carpets, from cs 1.6. There's many more

I once played cs go with a friend of mine. We fooled around and picked completely bullshit maps, including hostage maps. So the game started, and we found ourselves in CS_Militia. We didn't even know all of the map, had played it maybe 2 times before. The funny thing was, our teammates were VERY elaborate about calling places and were really into this map. At the stage where we heard the call "chicken!", we busted in laugh. After the next round, we heard "rabbit house!", and we were not playing any more, instead laughing our asses off. Thank you, with whoever we played that night, you made our day. We lost in the end, but that match created memories I don't want to miss. :-)

I feel like there’s a million more than you mentioned, i hear the area between B and Short on mirage called McDonalds or Arches, i hear the area Ts can get set up in before B on cache called Sun Room or Toxic. On inferno i hear the area just before tunnel if your coming from T side called ramp or T-base, maybe it’s because there’s so many languages in EU games but there’s almost no definitive call-outs, on Underpass graffiti isn’t always called that, sometimes it’s ABC

I learned 2:02 as crawlspace. But yeah, I'm trying to standardise callouts as much as possible. Short, Long, Mid, Connector are words that make sense on nearly every map/bombsite and don't have to be replaced by individual callouts imo.

In russian some positions are called meat like cave on ancient or water on overpass(that is between con and short), even some pro teams like navi(if you listen some of their teamspeaks) use this, i guess the reason is that these positions are most important on map and at you must take it all the time, what is called 'beat the meat' = re/take these positions

Something I’ve noticed is that in NA on overpass, we call the area where CTs come to the B bomb site “graffiti”, but I’ve heard people in EU call it “abc”. I’m not sure where the abc call comes from though
@rudolfmayer012 жыл бұрын
My guess would be A-to-B-Connector = ABC (just came up with that explanation). But me playing on EU servers for a long time I've heard both used, but I always thought graffiti meant the left side (from bombsite perspective) and not actually the place where CTs come from.
@rudolfmayer012 жыл бұрын
I actually found out that earlier in overpass history the left side had an actual graffiti on the wall. The text of the graffiti: "abc", sooooo well... I guess now we know.

That spot has tons of names! Slope, Ramp, A main, Pit, etc. But nothing is more annoying than A site, because “triple box” is often confused by “fire box” and vice versa. Fucken EU players make these confusing names and it’s confusing all of us in EU
@danotschko59482 жыл бұрын
@@iamauriyone3035 yeah i it's really annoying when nobody knows which box is meant. My friends and I now call the box near CT triple except if you stand exactly behind it when you come out of Ramp/Pit/whatever. The one next to palace we call default.
