Bro, So glad you made this video, I was saying this the other day about Goku vs Gohan (don’t get me wrong, the fight just started it could get better) but toyotaro draws as if he expects the anime to fill in the gaps of the actual combat. His fight choreography is basic as hell. It’s frustrating to see the lack of improvement given the amount of time he’s had to settle in, especially when compared to JJK & MHA who are pushing creativity, and giving the animators better material to create from. Yes Toyotaro has improved in still poses and drawings, I’ll give him that, he can do some great spreads and covers.
@blipblop75658 ай бұрын
Agreed, one thing I've noticed is that he doesn't foreshorten or do any different angles much. One thing I loved that Toriyama did was always draw in the perspective of the camera being at different angles; sometimes above the character pointing down at them, or below them pointing up towards them. Toyotaro doesn't do that; his art is very good but he rarely draws outside his comfort zone. It's mainly flat 2d compositions of the camera just facing the character head on. I've noticed that he tends to struggle with foreshortening though which I can't really blame him
@SatanbutspelledBroderick8 ай бұрын
@@blipblop7565 and what’s crazy is that most of his memorable art is from the vol covers where he’s doing new perspectives but in the actual manga it is VERY bland

@SatanbutspelledBroderick FACTS! I think if he cuts down on the amount of panels per page (to like 2-4 like Toriyama), He'd have less to draw and can expirement with his paneling more. He normally does like 5 panels (or more sometimes) per page and has too much to draw, so I guess he simplifies it because each panel is too small to draw something bigger, detailed, and grand. Most of Toriyama's fights are like 2 or 3 panels per page and have a lot of space for him to draw. Toyotaro has wayyyy too much reaction panels during his fighting. A character will get hit in one panel, and then the next panel will show same character reacting to that punch. It's basically just an unnecessary zoom in of that character's face in the next panel. Him doing this really slows down the fight scenes for me at least I think if he focused more on dynamic poses and drawing over just punch, kick, and reacting, he'd have some great fight scenes

@SatanbutspelledBroderick I think it's mainly just the fight scenes really. Toriyama, for example, was a big fanatic of martial arts films, so it's not a surprise how he constantly had new ideas for fight choreography. Even Kishimoto referenced a martial art film with the drunken fist fight between Rock Lee and that bone guy (forgot his name lol) But as for Toyotaro, I think his fight scenes lack creativity because he lacks inspiration; his only inspiration is dragon ball while the inspiration for dragon ball was a whole bunch of DIFFERENT inspirations combined. Toriyama was inspired by journey to the west, martial arts films, and even American movies like the Terminator. Meanwhile Toyotaro doesn't have much inspiration as far as I've seen. Edit: I don't hate Toyotaros art though, I just think it could be better

Ikemoto is a better artist than kishimoto. (I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ARTSTYLE. I'm talking about artists, Clearly Naruto art style is superior.) I wanna clarify what Kishimoto meant behind his statement of Ikemoto being a better artist than himself. Because Ikemoto IS ONE GUY DOING THIS ENTIRE MANGA. ONE GUY. Kishimoto needed like uhh 8 PEOPLE. And before you bring up ANY panel from the Naruto manga saying "Kishimoto drew this " I hope you know Ikemoto also drew that panel. He was the background specialist. Ikemoto is a really talented artist too because the fact that he is able to draw Boruto all alone without any assistants is impressive in its own right. He is better at drawing bodies than Kishimoto now. When Kishimoto was looking for assistants, he saw ikemoto's one shot manga and kishimoto was like "That guy. Right there. We need him." Why do you think Kishimoto choose him? Ikemoto carried the Naruto artstyle. He was the one that was helping Kishimoto often. But Kishimoto is way better at drawing perspectives than Ikemoto and he is better at drawing facial expressions, but Ikemoto draws male character bodies better than Kishimoto. When you look at the backgrounds in Naruto and compare the backgrounds to EARLY BORUTO. It is same quality. The reason why ikemoto toned it down is so the characters can be consistent. But now the art is rapidly becoming better every chapter since Ikemoto has the freedom to draw his own designs now. People often complain about Kawaki looking "Ugly" But thats because he literally is ugly. He looks weird because he is literally malnourished. He is not some hot guy like Sasuke. He is just an ugly dude in general and there is nothing wrong with his cover. They point out the long torso and short legs but no, his shirt is just too big and he is just pulling his pants down lol (Sagging). And before people start complaining about belts, YALL HAD NO PROBLEM WHEN KISHIMOTO SPAMMED FISHNETS ON EVERYONE but when Ikemoto does something repetitive "WAHH BAD BAD BAD" "Boruto has long arms" Hes just a tall lanky fella. I seen people with these arms before its nothing special. God forbid characters having different body types I guess. Also ikemoto draws way more detailed faces tbh. So overall Ikemoto IS a better artist than Kishimoto, but still, The naruto artstyle is better than boruto artstyle.

Ikemotos proportions sometimes are off, he has a lot of big head syndrome and the panel with Boruto returning is REALLY off his head and shoulder distance is CRAZY lmao, but like I said I just want his fights to get a bit better I like his art as it definitely has gotten better no issues there
