I think there getting back to how dbz was when we were kids. Imo there trynna get probably 3-4 arcs ahead. So 1 they can take their time and 2 animate it all well. esp bc db fights should all have fight of the yr potential at this point just off scale and power. also by the time they get through whatever comes after granola toyble will prolly have at least 1 more arc done so then there not breathing down his neck about content or having to do hiatuses

I can't see any logical reason why it wouldn't be. It is much better for weekly series than Yamamuro's stiff style, so while Super Heroes is in Yamamuro sheets, if Super returns it should use Shintani's. That said, I don't think Super is returning anytime soon. Originally I thought it could return after Digimon Adventure: ended, but they pulled off early 2000s and started an another Digimon series instantly after it in the same time slot. Well, maybe after Dragon Quest ends?

@@unknownvariable9239 nah its the other way around. granola is one of the worst arks I have ever seen and thats surprising because the first ark of gt or resurrection of f exist. it's literally guy is angery and wants revenge and becomes stronger than goku and vegeta in a very small amount of time with some weak dragon and the 3 years left to live could be nullified with any other dragon balls. it's just stupid and granola also forgot about his revenge for frieza too. vegeta just loses his character development for what? nothing and ultra ego looks ugly with the ssj3 eyebrows too. moro was ok and at least everyone felt useful but went downhill when it was a repeat of cell.

Mix's filter is outstanding. Not even in the DBZ videos, did it brought the drawings closer to the style version like this one, at least imo. I guess thats thanks to the Z style being related to shading and line work, where Super Broly's lighting plays a huge role. Having said that, Granolah's drawing is MAGNIFICENT! Hakai Vegeta is amazing as well as the women. Merus looks like a real screenshot from the anime. I'll most likely come back to this video when Super returns airing to see how this work will hold up. Congrats to everyone who worked on it.

I really do think that Shintani's style needs to be the official style of Dragonball Super going forward. Especially now, if Toei were to get ahold of Mix's filter, or produce one of their own. The style is actually very well suited for animation and the faster they can animate the better the anime will actually look as there'll be more time to be used to make corrections where needed in post. ... ugh, I just want to see Dragonball Super continue already.

4:44 the before and after effects made the dark areas of the fur really REALLY dark, making the details that were there hardly noticeable. I tried a similar effect on some of my drawings and it ended up looking just as dark and i thought i must've done something wrong, but it's nice to see that even pros like you guys got similar looking results as well. Not too into darkening the drawing as much and loosing some of the details that were there.

It was revealed it was Akio Iyoku and the team from Shueisha that brought the manuscript ideas to Toriyama and pitched him movie ideas such as bringing back Broly. I assume Tori would rather make more of his own new characters than continue to use and have characters overstay their welcome.

@@자시엘 Shintani’s minimalistic style is good for sure, especially for fluid animation and yes it would be quite budget friendly, however, with every single key animator already heading other projects, Toei literally has no talent left to work on DBS. You know what that means? It means it doesn’t matter what the art style is, without talented animators it will look like shit. That’s why they stated once again in a new interview that they hope to promote other news content with this art style. It’s because it’s cheap as hell to reproduce new content now that they paid the big bucks to produce the models and rigging.

When it comes to Super's auras, I'd say the big thing that killed a lot of them was the insane amounts of light bloom used, which became particularly bad if the character's design was rather bright to begin with (cough Vegeta cough). Dragon Ball Super Broly, for the most part, says fuck you to using bloom on auras, or at least on the characters currently emanating said auras.

Zamasu's treatment was way better imo in the anime so there's still hope. @Cypher well yeah, the recent time out they've gotten for themselves certainly indicates that they're gonna take some time to make it, even if they will release episodes weekly once it comes out, but remember that DragonBall isn't the only anime they'll be working on, it will probably take priority over everything else except Onepiece but still, they have to manage stuff.

@Cypher they don't just have one piece and draginball to worry about, there are a ton of other series to work on, studios want to have a busy schedule all year to keep making profit, it makes no sense to put all your resources on a single project when you can make several and be sure to get some revenue even if some don't quite succeed.

Do you guys have a tutorial for these filters? Because I would love to tackle retro style and experiment with the Super Broly's visual style too, but there's a limit to how much I can learn from just seeing the end result when the "filter" is applied.

Knowing what DBS: Super Hero appears to be like as of this writing, projects like this is why the future of DBS terrifies me. I honestly hope that Naohiro Shintani and the Broly movie style returns to the series should the anime return. Otherwise…

@@Shrine_of_Karma I mean, to be fair, Dragon Ball has always been a series aimed for a young boys' demographic, even though it hits so much harder than that. While the DBZ anime was in an evening timeslot aimed for an older audience, and thus could get away with blood and gore, standards in Japan have changed since the '90s. What's more, the DBS anime in particular was aimed for a "Saturday Morning cartoon" series timeslot, and was very decidedly aimed towards a children's audience. So in a sense, you _are_ right, but it's not like DB is Game of Thrones-levels of mature. But DBS certainly could use more grit, which the manga definitely delivers on.
