It’s crazy how the mentally ill homeless man sounds so much more articulate and reasonable than the reporter harassing him
@KaladinVegapunk
@KaladinVegapunk 5 ай бұрын
Yeah mental health issues can affect intelligent people too, but it's definitely surprising. I'm shocked the cops didn't just nail him as an easy arrest they almost always do that in high profile cases to get an arrest. Thankfully this moron basically gave himself up, if he'd got a lawyer and never talked they would barely have a case

I’ve hung out with so many homeless people and yeah they’re often intelligent and articulate… they just tend to have disagreements with reality or struggles with addiction often both. Bigger harms to themselves than others, although there are definitely exceptions.

I'm really glad that Shawn had a pretty solid alibi, because this could have gone south for him pretty quickly. She thought he was a threat I guess that’s why she wanted someone to kill her? It’s really confusing would have thought she hired a hit man for the stalker who wouldn’t leave her alone. It’s heartbreaking when a person feels they have no other recourse for their troubles than to take to the Internet where predators are constantly watching for their opportunity. This is why one should turn to the local network of counselors and mental health. Family is another source of support. There is always someone that can help you beat your troubles. Stay away from the internet for self help. Blessings to you Mike for sharing this tough story. ❤

"Stay away from the internet for self help" you say. Many years ago I was in a very bad place mentally and felt that I just couldn't open up and tell anyone I knew about it. Not even my siblings or parents. One night I felt I just had to talk to someone, so I started a thread on a forum that's considered quite controversial in my native Sweden, asking for help. Someone almost immediately sent me a PM on the forum and we ended up having a long conversation. That conversation made me comfortable with opening up to my family (which I did the next day). To this day I have no idea who I was talkning to or even the gender of the person (anonymity is very importat on that forum, and we only communicated through PMs), but I will be forever grateful to him or her and now I've been very healthy mentally for years. So the internet isn't all that bad. 🙂

That's what people are referring to when they said they're glad he wasn't arrested.

Its common just like people who date felons and have guns in the house knowing they cant have them around that person. Just like another case where a crazy ex killed his children because he agreed to turn himself in on his warrant if he could see the kids one last time. The judge let him and he murdered them on the phone with their mother who turned him in on the warrant he was supposed to be turning himself in for. Its just human psychology basically manipulation. Because assisting someone with their death is illegal. You're probably too young to remember Dr. Kevorkian. Murad Jacob "Jack" Kevorkian (May 26, 1928 - June 3, 2011) was an American pathologist and euthanasia proponent. He publicly championed a terminal patient's right to die by physician-assisted suicide, embodied in his quote, "Dying is not a crime". Kevorkian said that he assisted at least 130 patients to that end. He was convicted of murder in 1999 and was often portrayed in the media with the name of "Dr. Death". Oddly enough, physician-assisted "medical aid in dying", is now legal in eleven jurisdictions: California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Montana, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington. It is more commonly known as "Death with Dignity." This is quite different than what happened in this case, however. A patient must be confirmed by two physicians to be terminally ill with a prognosis of 6 months or less to live and must also be confirmed by two physicians to be mentally capable to make medical decisions. I believe in other countries, people who suffer from certain serious mental illnesses are also able to choose this option, in addition to patients who are terminally ill. It will never be legal to assist someone with their suicide, however, though obviously there is no law against killing one's self, as there is no one to charge for a successful act of such. As far as I know there are no laws that apply to failed suicide attempts in the U.S., either.

@spiderboo464 did he got he got put in jail because by law it was proven he is guilty? If that is the case he " abandoned her" by choice because he chooses to broke the law. You go to jail and your kids are fatherless. He doesn't have to say he "abandoned her" technically" he did.
@King_WhiteWolf
@King_WhiteWolf 5 ай бұрын
Her father's lack of presence in her life when she was younger doesn't automatically mean he didn't love her, even back when she was young. He was _put_ in jail, which generally speaking is not a voluntary decision. While one can certainly make the argument that a parent partaking in illegal shenanigans which could result in them being separated from their children is poor parenting and bad decision-making - and they'd be 100% correct in that assertion - it also doesn't mean on it's own merit that they don't love said children. We human beings as a race behave in contradictory ways _constantly_ and often times do so in direct opposition to our own values or beliefs. You are certainly guilty of this at times in your life, even if you think you're not guilty of it or convince yourself you're genuinely not; you still are. So is everyone else - myself included. We do these things not necessarily because we don't hold or have those values and beliefs (though that's sometimes the case too), but because we're notoriously bad at impulse control and discipline, and we allow various factors and influences to impact the actions we ultimately take even if we know they're wrong or know we'll regret them or know they go against our own will or best-interest. And while none of that makes taking such actions acceptable or the right thing to do, nor does it excuse one of the consequences of those actions, it _does_ mean that sometimes we take actions that have consequences which seem apathetic or uncaring of someone we actually genuinely care about or love. A person can love someone and still fail them miserably, unfortunately. That's one of the reasons love is so difficult to manage and be comfortable with, because it is most often those we love who can or do hurt us the most, regardless of whether or not they meant to. Regardless, gatekeeping someone's pain like this, that is to say dismissing or diminishing their right or desire to see the killer of their loved one be brought to justice and punished for their crimes, is far more ironic and lame than the person you're admonishing. *Especially* considering your entire perspective is based on your own surface level assumptions made with very little or no deeper context beyond that presented to you by a single 3rd party investigator. You definitely have some growing up to do bud.

@@glow1815 That seems like a very myopic view. Dads and moms make mistakes and bad decisions. That in no way relates to a purposeful abandonment of a child. It also doesn't address whether or not the father tried to reform, make contact with his daughter, was denied contact, etc. Sure, this is the "interwebs" and we can all say whatever we want without much in the way of consequences but sheesh have a little empathy. She had stated she couldn’t go through with suicide, so clearly the act of death was terrifying, she was a heroin user previously, so the opportunity to take a drug where nothing else matters while someone commits the act for you is pretty obvious. I was watching a show with Ryan Montgomery an ethical hacker who is trying to take down these creeps. He in real time posted as a 15 year old girl just looking to chat and as he's explaining to the audience what he is doing bam under 46 seconds a guy replied to his message. A creepy middle aged guy just sitting on his computer waiting. That's the scariest part these guys are everywhere just waiting and ready to pounce

Mike, you rock! Thank you for bringing attention to those cases that need to be warnings for young people and all people, for that matter. And BTW, luv you, too. You seem like family ❤ Stacey Gould Boucher' Amiz.

Not familiar with how craiglist works, but to me it seems so rare that someone within her vircinity not only happened to see the post, but was also a pyscho willing to do it.

@deborahwhitehead5414 - There are psychos everywhere. They observe others to find out how to act like they have a conscience and empathy. There are more sociopaths and narcissists, though.

That "..if ya please" right at the end shows what a sweetheart Mike is. From the looks of Dad, I don't think Natalie had a chance in life, frankly. So very sad, what happened to her.

I don't know why, after all the stories you have covered, I find this one really upsetting. I think that girl had a real sense of hopelessness. It must be awful to feel that alone. To have lived life where you found so little joy, and copious amounts of pain.
